Advantages: FREE ON PRESCRIPTION, 99% PROTECTION AGAINST PREGNANCY Disadvantages: CAN HAVE SOME SLIGHT SIDE AFFECTS
I had never heard of Yasmin until I dropped by my doctors to tell him I needed a new pill yet again! The background on this was that I used to take Dianette the contraceptive pill that also helps prevent acne but as this is one of the most strongest pills on the market you are advised not to take for a long period of time so after 5 year I swapped to the dreaded Microgen which was really just your average pill I didn't have any babies but I got a ...

Advantages: great cycle control, clearer skin, stable moods, weight loss, effective contraception Disadvantages: slight nausea and tender breasts for 2 months, acne increases at first.
Yasmin is a combined oral contraceptive. It contains drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol. Drosperinone is a fairly new progestogen, and is the closest to the natural female progesterone hormone. It also functions as an anti-androgen and when combined with ethinyl estradiol (the "oestrogen" component), it can be highly effective as an acne and hirsuitism treatment without the harsher side effects of other drugs. Yasmin contains Ethinylestradiol 30 micrograms ...

Advantages: Very few side effects Disadvantages: May have difficulty getting doctor to agree to prescribing it
...in the UK this week. Yasmin has fewer side effects than other low-dose contraceptive Pills, say its makers, Schering Health Care. They claim it does not cause fluid retention or mood swings and it reduces breast tenderness.
One medical study found that women taking Yasmin even lost weight in the first year of using it.
Schering also claims it improves skin and hair condition and relieves the bloating associated with other oral contraceptives, ...

Advantages: Lighter/regular periods, no pregnancy, no side effects. Disadvantages: Can be difficult to remember to take it, other than that no problems.
I've been on the Yasmin pill for nearly a year now, and was prescribed it following an appointment with my doctor when I explained how irregular and painful my periods were. On hearing this, she prescribed me with the pill Yasmin and explained that I may experience some problems, but it was to be expected. If they got worse, then I would end up having to go back to change to another pill.
I never had to do that, even when I started it up for the ...

Advantages: No mood swings! Disadvantages: Eczema, migraine, weight gain
I switched to Yasmin from the mini-pill Cerazette because I couldn't cope with the bleeds every 14 days and terrible mood swings.
I had initially been given Cerazette because I have a migraine history and the progesterone only mini-pills don't aggravate the problem, however due to the reasons mentioned above, I had to give up on it, so my doctor suggested Yasmin as the oestrogene is low-dose, so the hope was it would give me contraceptive cover, ...

Moody and hungry! Review ofYasmin Contraceptive Pillby
Dollywood1980
Advantages: Not pregnant Disadvantages: Psychotic mood swings, increased appetite
...me moody). I changed onto Yasmin about 2 months ago following recommendations from a couple of friends. Yasmin was no better though and I was only on it for a month as, whether down to the moodiness caused by Microgynon or not, I was like Jekyll and Hide and became very violent towards my boyfriend, who I lashed out at because he didn't help me bring the shopping bags in!!! It was like I had a time bomb ticking away inside me until one day when I ...

Advantages: Bigger boobs Disadvantages: Mood swings, headaches and thats just for starters
I was prescribed Yasmin due to its low strength and the fact that the levogestronel that is used in lots of other pills was making me feel nauseous and at times I was sick. However I swear Yasmin is sending me crackers. I'm normally an extremely rational person but after taking this pill for just one week I have been acting extremely out of character. One minute i'm as high as a kite making complete life changes (deciding to leave my job, family, ...

Advantages: Effective Contraception, Supposedly the least side effects of any conbined pill. Disadvantages: New pill so long term effects are uknown.
I have been on quite a few different pills throughout my teens and early twenties and have done a lot of research regarding this method of contraception over the years. I have found, from experience and from research that the pill has many side effects which aren't always listed on the leaflet thats given out inside the box of pills.
The hormones that are inside the pill could be linked to many problems that women have in their lives, but as these ...

Advantages: ...huge boobs!!! Disadvantages: Where do I start?!...mood swings, pains/cramps and spasms in my leg etc!!!
...gain, breathlessnes, sickness...
I was prescribed Yasmin in February 2007 to clear my skin and sort out my erratic periods. I'd managed to get through my teenage years with flawless skin but have suffered from breakouts for several years now. In the nicest possible way I'd grown tired of everyone advising me of what to do to clear my skin and found that the medication I'd been prescribed was making it significantly worse.
Initially I was happy ...

~*Background Info*~
I decided to try Yasmin after diagnosing myself with PCOS. Yep even the DOCTOR couldnt get it right! Since I wasnt obese (actually VERY slim) there was *no way* I could have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - despite having ALL (or nearly all) the other symptoms and other symptoms in the family. Argh stupid doctor!!!
I went to the doctor DESPERATELY searching for a cure for clear skin. She was quick to prescribe the pill and I ...

...at the time I started Yasmin were fairly bad (other pills I tried had flared it up again). Within a couple of weeks I noticed a big change in my skin. Not only was it clearer but break outs decreased to only around my period. My periods were lighter and shorter and my water retention disappeared.
Side effects? Well yes I have had a couple, but nothing too serious. My skin is drier and for the first few weeks I felt sick. I also find I have more ...

So i tried it out for 6 months, you take Yasmin for 21 days have your usual 7 days off then repeat, ok it made my periods more regular and less painful along with easing the pain I have in my breasts for 2 weeks due to fibroids, but for the 1st month i felt sick all the time.
