Everyone's body is different and can react differently when hormones are introduced. Unfortunately, the best way to find one that works for you is with the help of your physician is through trial and error. I can only speak from my experiences.. I am a non-smoker in my 30's who suffers from...

Severe depression, weight gain, spots

I started taking Marvelon at the beginning of the year, i've never had acne but im in my late 20's and always seem to have at least one spot a week so the idea of getting hassle free contraception and clear skin seemed like a bonus to me! 3 months later though i was getting really bad indegestion...

I was prescribed Yasmin years ago when I was a teenager, for both contraception and also to help clear my teenage skin. Back then it seemed to work fine, no major side effects...or so I thought. I was on it for years, trying on occasion to come off it, but everytime I did that,my face would break...

I had taken Dianette for around 8 years without any problems. I initially went on Dianette as my last resort option for acne before considering Retional A. However over the years I was on it I also used it as my contraceptive and it kept my skin clear and I never experienced any problems with it...

My doctor offered me Yasmin when I described to her my heavy periods. I had been tested for fibriods and even talked about the process of having the lining of the womb removed (which does grow back) or even a hysterectomy. I felt I was l too young for these options and may still want to have more...

I'm not the sort of person who is easily affected by medication or its side effects so when I read some of the reviews on here before I started taking Yasmin I ignored the reviews surrounding depression and anxiety. Yasmin is a pill that you take for 3 weeks and then have 1 week off. I have been on Yasmin for nearly 2 and a half years and am happy to say that I have had no problems with it, apart from forgetting to take it myself! This is the second pill I have ever taken and feel quite happy taking it. The...

Not for me

published 23/07/2008

Recently I have been taken off Yasmin due to the amount of migraines i had suffered in the space of seven days and the hight of my blood pressure. I now only wish that I had took other side effects on board sooner and gained professional help as I have been suffering with depression, Crying everyday without fail for no reason,Sickness, Dioreah,Stomache aches. I have not resorted to any other pill as my experience whilst taking Yasmin over the past 9 months has put me off. I had my self believing that I was depressed & emotionally unstable when all along it was that little tablet!

Not for me

I went on to Yasmin after my previous pill, which I had been on for years without any problems) was discontinued. Initially it seemed fine but within a few months I turned from being a very confident out going trusting person into an irrationally, anxious wreck. At least 3/4 times a week I would break down in hysterical tears over the oddest of things, which scared the life out of me, and my boyfriend. Yasmin may be the new wonder pill, and period-wise it was great but it seriously messed up my head while I was on it. I've been off Yasmin now for 3 months and I'm back to being myself.

No mood swings and no weight gain

Swollen legs, bad skin, fluid retention

Im not going to bore almost everyone with the ins and outs of how the pill works or taking the pill as I think there are so many reviews that do that, Im just cutting straight to my experience on this pill. I was on Yasmin for 7 months after trying all kinds of differant pills. I am now 31 and...

I was on Microgynon 30 for 13 years. It made me depressed, bloated and very moody. I recently (past 6 months) started to develop excess hair over my face and body as well as acne, went to the doctor who suggested i go on Yasmin. So far it has been 2 months, spots have been less, I feel less bloated and have gone from a 34B to a 32D bra size which I am very happy with. I had mild headaches in the 1st week of taking yasmin, but nothing since then. Defiantely a lot lot better than Microgynon. I feel happier and my libido is a lot better...my libido before was -10! I would say to people, give it a month or 2 before you pack it in, it's worth it!

Not for me

published 17/09/2007

I went onto Yasmin havng used Dianette for 6 months. Dianette was supposed to ease the effects of Polycistic Ovary Syndrome, however, still bearded (yes, lucky me), and then a stone heavier (Dianette sucked) it was recommended that I try Yasmin as I was also now using the pill as a contraceptive. I have just emptied all 5 packets and the few remaining pills of this months cycle into the bin having just experienced one of the worst fortnights of my life. I have felt entirely out of control, panicky and most of all, deeply depressed. Although I imagined by changing the pill there would be SOME side-effects, it definitely is not worth a life of misery and fear. My message is do not take Yasmin.
