A Novel Of The Plague

AdvantagesA thrilling read that I found gripping and extremely informative.

DisadvantagesSlightly Americanised ending!

"I've been doing the Times bookclub thing. Each week a bestseller is only 99p with a copy of The Time. 'Year Of Wonders' by Geraldine Brook was one of these. I had been wanting to read this book for ages (and for 99p it was a bargain) ...and it was so worth the wait! Ring-a-ring o'roses ... we all fall down.

AdvantagesGreat story, fascinating characters, haunting read

In 17th century England, it was in the back of beyond - most people had no idea where it was. But the village has its own unique page in English history. When an outbreak of plague occurred, the residents elected to close themselves off from the rest of the world and try to contain the disease. This ..." Read review
