Ah'll mek thee t' best brew this side o' Pennines.

Advantages: Great tasting, iconic brew.
Disadvantages: Not yet Fairtrade, not the cheapest cuppa either.

...of delight, otherwise known as Yorkshire Tea. And how can you not notice the Yorkshire Tea box? Behind the bold red, black and white logo is depicted the most charming nostalgia-fest I can imagine, especially as a Yorkshire lad myself: rolling hills with vast fields divided by dry-stone walls, a healthy smattering of sheep, a couple of tumbledown cottages; plumes of smoke lazily rising from their chimneys and a village church. Personally, I am hoping ...
...As a company too, Yorkshire Tea (part of Taylors of Harrogate) is appealing. While not carrying the Fairtrade logo, they adhere to ethical policies of fair remuneration for tea growers and donate substantially to the Trees for Life Fund, which undertakes tree planting and community projects in the UK and abroad. So that’s the guilt taken out of your cup! Price-wise, Yorkshire tea sits somewhere in the middle of the range; you'll pay around £2 for ...

Only Suitable If You Have A Consenting Partner

Advantages: Strong and one tea bag makes two cups of tea.
Disadvantages: Has a bitter taste and leaves cups looking brown.

...yes ... I see ... Yorkshire Tea ... and this isn't up north.", she eventually grimaced, "Ee by gum." She went on her way, muttering something or other, and knocked on the next door and I went back inside my flat. As it was about 'cup of tea time' I opened the box and inside were ten tea bags - big 'uns though, and oblong shaped, not like the normal nifty neat round ones I buy. I pulled out a bag, well actually I pulled out two as they were joined ...
..."But why is it Yorkshire Tea?", I asked myself. Myself answered something about how there must be a lot of tea grown in the Dales. I could picture the women in their clogs, curlers and cross over pinnies plucking only the best leaves. Nah, that was silly. I looked to the packet for an answer. 'Our tea tasters sample hundreds of teas every week, just to find the few good enough for Yorkshire Tea. We blend together teas from about twenty gardens to ...

'Ard Water, Not With Yorkshire Tea!

Advantages: Smells and Tastes Great
Disadvantages: Bit Pricey With An Aftertaste Some May Not Like

...was a green box containing Yorkshire Tea bags, not just any tea bag but Taylors of Harrogate's special blend for hard water and ten of them at that. Pictures of rural Yorkshire adorn the box and for a few moments memories came flooding back to me. I was born 11 miles from Harrogate and the pictures returned me to the countryside I played in as a child. I was also reminded of trips with my grandparents to Harrogate market where after a busy morning, ...
...more than his share of Yorkshire ale. Such was the impression the box made on me. Right that's memory lane visited, back to the task in hand or more accurately the hot, steaming mug of tea in hand. While that cools, a bit more on the box. Apart from the rural scenes there's a green teapot on the front of the box that states, this is the best cup of tea in Britain. A bold statement but as Taylors have been tea merchants since 1886, they must have ...

EE BAH GUM IT'S TEA OOP NORTH

Advantages: tastes nice, sell different tea bags to suit your local water, free samples
Disadvantages: more expensive than our usual brand

...offer for some samples of Yorkshire Tea on a website, I thought that’s just my, erm, cup of tea! I was also interested in them offering different types of tea depending on where you lived. Apparently, we live in a hard water area, so my free sample was a little box of six free tea bags, especially made for hard water. Now admittedly, six cups aren’t many for a test, but I often find my ordinary tea bags get a surface of foamy stuff on ...
...This didn’t happen with the Yorkshire Tea. Six perfect cups of tea. Brilliant. The tea bags are rectangular and slightly bigger than I am used to. They make an ideal strength too and the tea is very tasty, not smoky at all, but with a bit of a tang. Hard to describe really. (I feel like that awful blonde woman from the Food and Drink programme, swilling it round my mouth and trying to find new superlatives!) But, believe me, it does make a ...

A Little Taste of Yorkshire That Isn't a Cow Pat

Advantages: A strong and comforting cuppa that makes you feel good
Disadvantages: Aftertaste, but no worse than with other teas.

...received a free sample of Yorkshire tea through the post. There were 6 tea bags in the pack with the usual Yorkshire Tea livery some of us are familiar with. But are we familiar with it? I for one have never tried it, although I have often seen it on the supermarket shelves. I have had two cups so far, so here goes with the low down:- This tea brews extremely quickly. I always go for ippy dippy tea. You know, teabag in the mug, boiling water on ...
...up in the morning. Yorkshire Tea however, did not leave me with this sensation, it left me feeling warm and comforted - a feel good tea I would say. I would therefore not call this a breakfast tea, which is the time of day I like to feel fresh and awake. For me I would drink it in the afternoon (tea time of course :o) Approximately 15 minutes after I had finished my tea, I noticed a taste in my mouth. Not sure how to describe it, but I went and brushed ...

A taste of Leeds

Advantages: A proper cup of tea
Disadvantages: none

...but I`m not your typical yorkshire lass. I prefer my tea very weak, that`s why I choose to drink Yorkshire tea. Some teabags can give you quite a strong taste even when only dunked for a minute or two, that`s where Yorkshire tea differs. Depending on the dunking time, you will get varying strengths and tastes. I prefer to dunk mine with a spoon for a maximum of about ten seconds, that way I still get the full flavour of Yorkshire tea but it doesn`t ...
...they`re being short changed. Yorkshire tea themselves describe their tea as being rich, refreshing and full bodied. I`d agree with the second and third descriptions, but I find the taste more mild than rich. The other good thing about these tea bags, is that there is no hint of a perfume, unlike some other teas. I want a proper cup of tea, not eau de toilette tea. If you live in a hard water area, then Yorkshire tea also do a teabag especially ...

Ee by gum that's grand that is

Advantages: Tastes Great
Disadvantages: None

Yorkshire Tea is made by the rather posh sounding Taylors of Harrogate, one of the few remaining family tea merchants in the UK. It is a tea of very high quality, yet is reasonably priced and easily available in all supermarkets and local shops. For me, a several mugs a day woman, it beats the pants off PG, Tetley and all the rest. So what makes Yorkshire tea so good? Well, according to Taylors of Harrogate’s marketing department, it’s ...
...shows what particular blend of Yorkshire Tea you need. I prefer to think it's so good because it was made for all those hardy Yorkshire pitmen who needed a damn good mash to keep them going throughout their arduous day. Anyway, back to this water thing. Apparently, if you live in the South East, South Central England or the Midlands, you need special Yorkshire Tea for Hard Water. The rest of the UK can make do with ordinary Yorkshire Tea. Now ...

...he grew up to be yorkshire tea obsessed; no other brand would do. In italian restaurants he would demand a cup of tea at the end of the meal and get into a long debate with the waiter as to how they could prove their tea came from yorkshire. Not put off by the waiter's response that 'tea usually comes from india sir', he gainfully continued with his cuppa muttering the odd word about armies and empires. When a couple marry compromise is essential. ...

TRY IT FREE it's Simply Tea Best

Advantages: Taste, colour, and try it free
Disadvantages: none (though might be a little pricey)

Yorkshire Tea is what I drink these days, so the advert tells us! And so do I! I am the type of person who enjoys a cuppa without having to fuss about with leaves and pots etc. Yep, I fling a bag in a cup and add the water! However, it is advisable to ensure that the water is boiling – otherwise you’ll get the ‘yuck’ effect face! I have tried almost all the teas available (teabags that is), Tetley, Typhoo, PG, Sainsbury’s red label, Brooke Bond ...
...it came to Yorkshire tea it took me a while before I decided to go for it and buy that red box sitting on Sainsbury’s shelf. But I eventually gave in and bought a box of 80 bags. At this point I would like to point out that 80 tea bags costs round £1.89, although you may get these cheaper depending on where you buy them of course. Now where was I? Oh yes: so now I had the box in my cupboard waiting for my ‘old’ bags (No not you dear!) to finish. ...

Tea fixes everything

Advantages: Fresh taste, lovely packaging
Disadvantages: Maybe the price

...My first encounter with Yorkshire tea came when I was at uni and managed to get my hands on some free samples! Any company that sends out free samples immediately goes up in my estimations! When I tried my first cup I was amazed at how the taste differred to my normal tea. It's a bit difficult to describe but it tastes extremely fresh and clear. When I say that, I mean that it tastes as though the the tea has been filtered and all of the impurities ...
...Like most tea bags, Yorkshire Tea comes in a large rectangular cardboard box with a hinged lid and is sealed in cellophane. After getting past the cellophane the box is extremely easy to open because of the hinge and there is no need to break the perforations which I always break my nails on! Another good point about the box is that because it 100% cardboard so it can be recycled. However, the picture on box is so lovely it seems a shame to throw ...

Tea at it's best

Aah that is good

Advantages: Great taste
Disadvantages: Not if it stews

...then, let's talk tea and Yorkshire tea in particular... Tea is one of the most refreshing drinks around, IF IT IS MADE CORRECTLY. If, on the other hand it is made badly, it can indeed be particularly dire - I mean there is very little that is worse in this entire world than a cup of stewed tea, which resembles poison at worst and liquid mud at best. Here's the dave27 instruction for a good cup of tea: Boil a kettle, pouring a little hot water ...

All manure and drystone walls

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: expensive, dry aftertaste and no better than the rest

...The tea in question is Yorkshire Tea for hard water made by Taylor’s of Harrogate. I have resisted the temptation to read the other opinions on this tea that have been written but did notice that the writers offered high star ratings for the product – sorry, I have to disagree. Yorkshire Tea ranks amongst the most expensive everyday teas that you will find in the supermarket. I don’t think that it merits the price. Taylor’s ...
...from softer water. Taylor’s Yorkshire tea just had to be worth a go but does it have the Ronseal factor - does it do what it says on the tin? Taylor’s claim that, like the Victorian tea merchants, they have selected a special blend of teas especially for use in hard water areas. The result should be a flavoursome cup of tea. I always make my tea the old fashioned way, in a teapot, the bag (or preferably leaves) left to steep for five ...

A Nice Cuppa Char

Advantages: Good value - one teabag makes 2 cups of tea
Disadvantages: A bit more expensive than your average tea bags

...most. I've been drinking Yorkshire Tea (teabags) for a good few years now. I first spotted its' distinctive orange box in York (surprise, surprise) several years ago, and, having brewed my first cup, was converted on the spot. You can imagine my joy when I realised that Asda sell it in all their stores (in boxes of 80 and 160), and that I wouldn't have to mail order them from Betty's in York every time I needed a box! What hadn't clicked with me ...

So I clicked the relevant boxes and today I received my free sample of Yorkshire Tea for Hard Water. And that’s the reason that I'm writing this review now. I'm sitting here sipping a brew whilst I type, and it is luvverly! I’m not too sure how this ‘hard water’ brew is different from the ‘normal’ brew, although I did ...
