ZyXEL Prestige 660HWP - wireless router

excellent product , rock solid ( upgraded from old netgear B WIFI router) its seems more stable than the netgear kit ( usually i would loose connection once in every 5 hours ) Things to note though - check your settings with your provider , to ensure that you have everything correct - check the if there is a more current firmware ( google the full name of the firmware as the UK website does not give you the firmware link for some reason, google does ) Only used the wireless part, it comes pre-configured what is a bonus ( you might need to change the SSID and the pass phrase after you have everything working ) cant wait to use the powerline part for my PC / mediaplayer down stairs ...

i bought one of these and the first thing i noticed was that the router fails the window connectivity test (upnp section). it would also drop out the adsl connection for no apparent reason wheras my netgear dg834g would never do. i then tried a firmware update and this made no difference. the upnp just stops working completely after around 5-10 mins of operation and does not return unless you reboot the router. later the whole router started resetting ...
...the exact same experience again. i never got to try the homeplug av part of it. i was attracted by the £50 price tag on pc worlds website, lets just say you cannot get a 54g adsl router and homeplug for £50, coz these things are very poor indeed. the 2 worst routers i have ever used have both been Zyxel. why is upnp important? well if you have a ps3 or wii then you'll soon find out they dont connect properly with this pile of cack. probably xbox ...
