"Users can buy or sell anything from holidays to computers to used cars. Ad Trader offers the biggest choice, the best bargains and free online classified ads for private individuals."
You read this the first time you enter the site: I wonder if it's true. So I went browsing around adtrader to find out what they might have in store for their consumers.
I tried the links to their categories and discovered they have actually listed a handful--IN ... ...ad sites are often in a clutter--you know, the links are all over the place and then you simply get lost in them (I hate that personally).
Well, this place has the full number of ads available regarding anything you might be interested in. I'm particularly interested in art decors and crafts, well, I'm impressed with the selection they have here (priced resonably). Interesting. Likewise, the ads are filtered by town and country--that's tad thoughtful ...

Although as stated, this site could do with improvements, I am responding to the' Astrader scam'. I found there were extensive details of the cars for sale, and you are advised about the private response number procedure when you click on the details of the ad. Obviously these charges are not ideal, but they are explained fully. That's not to say that you won't get scammed, whether using AdTrader.co.uk, ebay or wherever, when goods are second hand ... ...be willing to take. If you are taking the time to review a site like this, please do the necessary research before shouting SCAM as loud as you can. If your claims are correct then fair enough, but after reading your comment and doing a little bit of research, I found that the comments were worthless. ...

Advantages: Another place to look for stuff Disadvantages: Dubious practices
Look at the Adtrader motoring section. Ever wondered why there are hardly any details of the vehicles for sale? That's because they want you to ring up and ask the seller; and spend as long as possible on the phone!
Why? Because although they don't tell you. all calls go through a special telephone number (07092) and are charged as follows:
# 10.63p per minute (ex VAT), or approximately 12.5p per minute (inc VAT) Weekends.
# 21.27p per minute ...

Advantages: you can sell anything and look for anything, or put an ad for things wanted, its free to advertise. Disadvantages: none
Well hear I am again wondering if I have put this opinion in the right place. Well thankfully I think I have.
The Scottish Supermart now known as The Ad Trader is one of the most powerful ways to buy and sell absolutley anything, from the garden gnomes to aunty Mauds bloomers. It has 966 classifications which have two categories an offered section and a wanted section so that makes it an outstanding 1932 catagories.
It is free to advertise if you ... ...a trader there is a reasonable cost. There are two copies of the paper available a week. The yellow one is out on a Wednesday and the blue one on a Saturday. Adverts for the wednesdays paper must be phoned, e-mailed, faxed or sent in by 12pm Monday or for saturdays they must be in for 12pm Thursday. The paper itself costs £1.20.

Advantages: Items for sale in your area, clear and concise categories Disadvantages: Maybe a bit too limiting
From what I have seen of Adtrader it seems to be quite a helpful site, it includes classified advertisments and most of all ones in your area, which is a big help so at least you know that the item you want is not far away. The different categories are set out clearly and are comprehensive. And if you are looking for vehicles it is very good.
However in comparison to other auctions I don't find it as good and as clear as QXL for example and maybe ...

Advantages: Ummm... it's in English Disadvantages: Slow, cumbersome, old technology, complicated to use, inconvienient to follow through with purchases
I stumbled across Adtrader in my search for online auction sites. There is an auction facility on the site if you look carefully - otherwise what you tend to find is the classified listings.
Basically the service they offer seems to be little more than a listing of classified advertisements. It reminded me very much of the old LOOT paper that I used to turn to before discovering the joys of online shopping. The auction functions are very basic and ... ...shopped. The software they've chosen to use for their auction engine is probably not the best available.
The interface at AdTrader is not particularly easy to use and searching is overly complicated by being required to search within particular city or postcode districts. Then once you find a listing of the itmes you're after there is rarely a picture, the descriptions seem to be uniformly brief and unhelpful. What astounded me most about the site ...

I have been registered with Ad Trader for a while now and have found it to be one of the worst auction sites available. It offers a poor selection of items although they do seem to be in rather good condition. The prices suite all pockets but the quality just doesn't seem to be there. It's design is well thought out and placing bids is free and no hassle. sending/receiving payment for a auction you have won/sold is easy enough as both seller and bidder ...

After a trying to find a item that was reviewed in the Sunday Times, a Pod Hammock I tried a search via a search engine. This revealed two sites, one was Ad Trade the other was Boystuff. I checked both sites and was highly suprised when I found that Ad Trader had a starting bid that was £15 cheaper than Boystuff own site even though the seller was suppose to be Boystuff. I thought I'd at least make a profit, but I was wrong.
The bidding started ... ...so I increased the bid by a pound. This did not meet the bid either. A feature on this site is the automatic increase were you can set a limit price and the bid will automatically be increased by a £1 until you meet the winning bid. So I placed a limit at £40 since I'd at least be making a £5 profit over Boystuff's main site.
Not to my suprise the bid was accepted at £40 and when the bid closed I received a email saying I had won, but it now included ...
