    Ask Jeeves is the Search Engine with a difference and very unlike your usual Search Engines such as Yahoo and Lycos, to name a few. What struck me most about Ask Jeeves was the simplicity of the start page. An unknowing visitor could not be blamed for mistaking this as a website for a posh restaurant or hotel.     'Oh', I lamented in my chair for the fourth time that fine summer's evening, 'Dear Jeeves.... - will you ever learn?' Alas, no, it seems. Jeeves, my internet butler, far from serving me, his master, with any information from the internet I so desire, will be served himself with his P45. I suspect Jeeves has had the tantalus keys copied: I'm sure I could detect the smell of sherry when he told me with a straight face I can buy curtains from an Irish Estate Agent.     Jeeves wants you to ask a question they have never been asked before to win a million pounds! Sounds good but www.askjeeves.com is a massive site which has been going for a while now and therefore this may be more difficult than it sounds! The concept of the site is very simple, all you have to do is go to the site and type your question. Jeeves then finds possible sites that will help you answer your question.     Not much of an update just to say that good old jeeves £1million question has finished and that it looks like he gets to keep it :o( maybe he can buy himself a new suit :o) Here is the challenge! If you think you can ask a question that hasn’t been asked before, the £1million is yours to keep! If you don’t, then don’t worry because you can ask up to fifty questions a day and you will be entered into a daily draw of fantastic prizes which is open until the 12th of July!     I don't believe it. Dooyoo has everything on it but they have only just added ask.co.uk. Either this is an oversight or I am one of the few using ask Jeeves! How could anyone miss the tacky tv ads asking you to use Jeeves (butler guy from PGWodehouse I think, might be very wrong). Ask is a meta search engine, this means that it searches other search engines, generally lycos, yahoo types. It is easy to use and well laid out. You simply type your question into the central box and click on the 'ask' sign. It always discounts the 'where can i find a site about' part of the question and ... more

    The stately homes had one, the wealthy had one and now everybody can have one, their own personal butler. Not to fetch and carry in the real world but to do the fetching in cyberspace. AskJeeves is a brilliant idea to help people find out about any subject under the sun and even on it. Type in www.askjeeves.co.uk and you get a pale yellow box with Jeeves looking as if he is ready to do your bidding.     Disadvantages Disadvantages It doesn't find things you want. It finds the /wrong/ things. It steals your screen.

    If you wanted to find two of the most popular products to write about in Ciao then I would direct you at Google and Ask Jeeves. Pretty much everyone bows down and worships the CyberSpace in which Google rules, but opinions seem to be mixed on Ask Jeeves. Newbies - and it can be pretty easy to spot these people - often seem to like Ask Jeeves, whereas old hats like myself hate it. www.askjeeves.com is an American site. www.ask.co.uk is the British one.     Jeeves...what a guy every womans dream, well he's mine anyway, hes the answer to my preys when ever i get homework from college i cant do im straight on jeeves like you wouldnt believe. he comes in useful for everything, my two favourite search engineers are certainly jeeves and google. both answer my questions a dream. he always comes up woth the right answers, and he even spell checks things if he doesnt understand the question. he even gives u links to other search engines. his website address is WWW.ASK.COM its easy to use, easy to get around and everythng is explained what could be ... more

    www.Ask.co.uk is the UK version of what must be quite a successful US site www.Ask.com. The advertising for the website here in the UK has been to Ask Jeeves, the internet Butler, and I would say that the adverts have probably been quite successful, as I'm sure the site would not be running if they didn't get enough people using it. ~~Searching~~ The idea behind the site is that you type in something to search for much like most other Internet search engines on the web.
