Advantages: Cheap for sellers. Disadvantages: Very quiet of late!!
I originally started to use Aucland to sell my products when they were offering you the chance to sell items completely free (ie. no listing fee or commission fees). At this time the site was buzzing and I was selling quite a few products that I had listed. The site was very easy to use making the whole experience very simple. However, there have been some recent changes which are certainly not for the better.
Website Redesign
The Aucland website ... ...the previous version but the fancy graphics now take longer to download and the navigiation is a little more complex. The team seem to have focused on the aesthetic approach and not the more important user-friendly approach which we all want.
Pricing
Well, the only reason Aucland are here is to make money. However, when they were offering free listings they were not making any real cash so that had to change. As a result, you now have to pay a ...

Advantages: Access to European markets Disadvantages: Nothing there
Reading the history of reviews of Aucland it's not difficult to see a steady declining pattern. Looking at the site today it's certainly difficult to justify their (current) number 3 slot in the 'Best Auctions'-even QXL is better and that says alot!
Its already been said - but incase you missed it. Aucland is a Paris based online auction with sites in France, Spain, Italy and the UK. (I can't comment on the other sites - except to say they look ... ...not up to the translastions.)
The site has recently been redesigned and following the trend set by QXL - they have made it more 'click intensive' to navigate the site in a bid for greater 'advertising page views'. I find this really irritating. The other thing they have done is stopped displaying the number of lots they have for sale in each category (the reading was getting too grim!).
Having been a keen follower of Aucland for more than a year ...

Advantages: promotional items are great Disadvantages: quiet
Aucland is a pretty quiet UK based auction site but with a difference!...
Quite often they have special promotional auctions. These often start at £1 with no reserve. It is a great place to pick up a bragain. They have products such as TVs and mobile phones which go for a lot less than their retail price. Of course, you can buy from private sellers but there are not many products for sale but you may pick up a bargain.
There is a freephone aucland ...

Advantages: Fast, clear, many features, special offers, easy to find a bargain, great customer support Disadvantages: Too quiet for sellers
Aucland are a france-based company who are expanding all over Europe to pring Internet users yet another auction site. They first opened their doors over a year ago now, but they're still yet to break on to the auction scene, and it's looking less and less likely that they ever will.
their site is crisp and clear, and thanks to the lack of traffic, listing your items is quite often free. But really, it's pretty unlikely that your item will sell ... ...But if you're a buyer, that means you have more chance of actually finding a bargain item than you would on either of those two sites. However, the choice is far more limited.
The best thing about Aucland by far are the regular offers they have from companies, selling things from compact discs to holidays for a minute fraction of the price you'd find in the shops. I bought my mobile phone from there, as well as 100+ CD's.
When you sign up, you ...

Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: lack of users
I have been using Aucland for over 6 months now for buying a range of things from computers to C.D's and in my opinion it is one of the best British auction sites out there at the moment. The layout is good with the mainpage providing a good overview to whats happening on the rest of the site. There is a search box positioned in the center an links to the main sections are positioned to the left with number indicators to show the amount of items ... ...into the various sub-catorgories, then into the items for sale. The links to the auctions are layed out below each other with the current highest bid, end date and a range of icons to indicate whether the item has a reserve price, whether there is a photo and how popular the item is. There is usually a good range of items in most sections being sold by both merchants and individuals. The auction page gives the overall rating of the seller and the ...

Advantages: Can't fault layout and design Disadvantages: Never seems to many items for auction
I have used a number of auctions and I was disapointed by the limited quantity of auctions taking place at aucland. Where other sites would have say 100 auctions on a specific item eg. rock/pop CDs, aucland seems only to ever have about 25. Aucland has great potential, the site is fast and user friendly to navigate around, it just needs more people using the site. More publicity is needed so that it can compete with other leading auction sites, otherwise ...

Aucland an excellemt auction site which you can move through the site easy and find great bargains that the site has on offer. The only problem that I found with the site was that there wasn't enough stuff though the site is user friendly. The site is great to look and really easy to use compaired to other auction sites I've been to. It's great to find a product that you've been searching for with such easy.
It's also great for selling as well as ...

Advantages: Seems very attractive, when you sign up. Disadvantages: Cant seem to sell owt!
Having been a member of Aucland for quite some time now, I am becoming very uncomfortable, regards the ins and outs of the workings of this site!
I have personally place several items for sale on Aucland, and have found it impossible to sell even one of them.
Sure......their site is very well laid out and its functions and facilities are great....such as being emailed when someone has bid for and item, or being informed when any particular item, ... ...one wants to buy what your selling.
I recently placed for auction, an eighteenth centuary family bible, with dedications and a family tree!....The bible was even the former property of a Squire....I DID'NT EVEN GET ONE BID..
Now that is strange, that I just cannot understand.
I am begining to wonder, wether it was worth even signing up for Aucland. ...

Advantages: Lots of Auction topics covered Disadvantages: Sort your own arrangemnets out after sale
I first got introduced to aucland with an offer through libertysurf, offering all libertysurf mambers a free chart CD if they registered at Aucland. Since joining, i have recieved my free CD, and think the service is very good there. you don't have to mess about putting your credit card details in as you just sort out the payments with the other party when the auctioned item has been sold. It is an easily navigatable site and easy to bid, they have ... ...months. they make their money, at the moment, by offering bold text and top of list rankings, for sellers. They will also shortly start charging for selling items. You can keep up to date with any items you are bidding on by receiving emails informing you of your bidding status. I have both bought and sold on aucland, and they don't even want your credit card details!!!!! ...

Aucland is a superb internet auction site. You can buy and sell almost anything you want on Aucland which is good. It doesn't ask for credit card details like most auction sites. You can register quickly and start selling. I have sold loads of stuff on Aucland and the people I deal with never mess you around. If I want to sell something quickly I go straight to Aucland. The best place is the Computer and Movie section of the site. It is also free ...
Advantages: easy to use Disadvantages: no guarantees for seller
Aucland is a good site, don't get me wrong but recently it seems to be getting awful quiet. Some sections remain popular - the computer ones mostly.
I have sold quite a lot of things on the site and they could do with implementing something like qxl has where users enter credit card details - as it is just now the auction could close and the buyer changes his/her mind then their isn't much you can do about it.
The interface is easy to navigate ...

Advantages: Question the seller before you bid Disadvantages: None
In my opinion Aucland is one of the best auction sites available at the moment. It is always a very daunting task to buy something from someone whom you have never seen or met, Therefore Auclands facility to question the buyer is invaluable and reassuring. I have used this facility several times and had my doubts either confirmed or eliminated by the seller himself. Without the facility of questioning the seller I certainly wouldn't have had the ...

Advantages: still free to sellers (I think) Disadvantages: not a lot of people looking or buying it seems
I joined Aucland for the free chart cd they were giving away. Whether there was a supply problem, or whether they'd simply run out of their stock, I never got one.
Not to be put off I tried the site to sell a couple of Atari cartridges that were taking up valuable bookshelf space.
I had no offers at all. When I looked around the site it was quite clear that it was not receiving a vast quantity of bids and not selling a vast quantity of goods.
... ...how start-ups can rival ebay and qxl, since for an auction site to be a success it already needs to be a success.
To place goods you have to see that a lot of people are looking and buying, and to buy goods you have to know that a lot of people are selling a lot of stuff.
I didn't find any of this on aucland, and went back to ebay. ...

A while back a saw an advert for Auckland, claiming that it was the best auction site around. So of course, I decided to have a look.
The site itself is very easy to use and navigate, loads quickly and has many interesting items for sale at very good prices.

I have had a detailed look at aucland. The software is good and it is easy to get around, however I am interested in music and philately. In the music section they seem to be selling one company's goods, the goods are all cheap items and fairly easy to get. Not very interesting.
The stamp section is very confusing. Again all of the stamps come from one company and are badly categorised. They refer to stanley gibbons numbers, but forget to tell you ...
