Trading up...?

Advantages: Choice, easily navigated, availability of reviews and car related links
Disadvantages: too much choice..!

Since landing myself a new job opportunity 55 miles away (nice career development move!) I have been on the car buying merry go round with a vengeance. Obviously for that distance both fuel economy and comfort are of utmost importance and I am looking for something quite rare - notably a diesel automatic vehicle, budget was stretching to a 3-5yr old vehicle depending on how prestigious a model I elected for, and low mileage was a factor - as I will ...
...years without doing a lot more than commuting. In years previous, the autotrader magazine has always served its purpose relatively well, although 500 pages of black and white car adverts could be a little on the tedious side. Like everything, the internet has changed the way we shop for goods, although the jury is still out for me on whether it has actually simplified the process or made it ten times harder! Without question, however, my favourite ...

So You Want More Choice

Advantages: HUGE choice of vehicles. GREAT search facility
Disadvantages: None that I experienced

~ ~ As most of you are already probably aware, I am a taxi-driver here in the Fair City of Dublin, Ireland for the past seven years or so. And any of you who have read my car reviews will also be aware of my obvious attachment to Nissan motor cars. In July 1999, I found myself on the lookout for a replacement for my trusty 1991 Nissan Bluebird, which was long past due for an honourable retirement. I had a notion that I could just possibly manage ...
...my usual round of daily and evening newspapers, local garages, and main dealers. And there my problems began. Although Nissan, and the Bluebird in particular, is a very popular marque here in Ireland, the last of these marvellous cars was manufactured in early 1992. And although there are still plenty of Bluebirds around, finding a "clean" example, which would stand up to the rigours of use as a taxi, proved a very daunting task. Looking through ...

The tool of the eighties in a new and useful guise

Advantages: expansive data base
Disadvantages: None really

Autotrader is an icon of the eighties that has moved into the new century with grace and skill. This is not through active management but it has been driven by market forces and as such it has survived. Both a magazine and a website, it is dedicated to the sole aim of selling cars and car accessories to the Great British public and it does this very successfully. The website is found at www.autotrader.co.uk . It has a search facility that allows ...
...Basic search allows you to search for manufacturer and model only. This is useful if you are looking for a rare car such as a TVR chimera (47 results today). For your more common models it is too extensive, you cannot hope to find your desired Ford Ka from 760 found. The advanced search allows you to hone your criteria to price range, geographic area and yes even colour. Www.autotrader.co.uk contains lists of motors that individuals want to sell ...

Advantages: Nice quick website.
Disadvantages: Nothing if it sells your car.

Ive been a fan of the autotrader since I started using the magazine back in the dark ages when I was 18.Ive tried a lot of different ways to selling cars, via free and local papers, agencys , and local shop windows. The one that Ive had the most success out of by a long way is the Autotrader.I how this as I always ask the person whom have bought the car where they saw it advertised, so I know where to look advertise in the future. I have to say since ...

Useful if you know what you want

Advantages: great for finding a car to buy
Disadvantages: need to know exactly what you want

This is a really quick and painless way to find a new or used car its worthwile noting the following tips for searching the dattabase because its not that easy to browse around if you are not sure what model of car you want to buy. Definately register, as you can look for a particular model number (ie. GL GLX etc) and you can look for a particular mileage and age. And don't bother if you don't least know the make of the car and model of the car that ...

Excellent Site

Advantages: Easy to use, massive database
Disadvantages: ???

Anyone who is looking to buy a used car should visit the autotrader website. It has a massive database and contains thousands of cars. It is also extremely easy to use and sophisticated. You can specify various options to narrow the search down to your ideal car, right down to the colour. Another good feature of this website is that you can limit the distance of the cars it lists. You also get a good idea of what price you should be paying as there ...

Autotrader internet service benefits

Advantages: Huge target market
Disadvantages: Had to contact them to remind them to get the car put on to the internet

I am not a regular reader of Autotrader, or any other car sales magazines or publications. However, I have always assumed that the best way to sell a car or buy a second hand one is through the Autotrader. I advertised my car, priced a little too high and with few details (In my heart of hearts I didnt want to sell it but I had to !!) and the photographer came round. By that thursday, my car was advertised in the correct section, and looked good. ...
...only phonecalls I received were from other sales magazines telling me they were better. I was a little discouraged, but checked the details on the website they had promised. My car wasnt there, so I emailed them immediately. They got back to me and assured me that they would put the car online immediately. Within 24 hours I had received a number of calls from all over the country, and had arranged to meet a prospective buyer halfway between his ...

Easy to use

Advantages: makes looking for a car simple
Disadvantages: none

This site is very easy to find what you want. Just enter the type of car you want and the area you are living in and it will search for that car within a certain amount of miles. It lists all the cars that are listed in the magazine and those with pictures are placed in colour on the site. Only problem with that is sometimes you will end up with say a Ford Sierra picture in with a Peugeot 306 section. You can view the results in many ways like in ...

A great site to get information on and buy cars

Advantages: Lots of information and cars
Disadvantages: Parkers does not have all car models listed

We were recently looking for a new car and looked at this site quite a lot. Apart from giving you listing for cars, new and 2nd hand, that are for sale throughout the country, you specify how close to home you want to look it also gives you listings of the cars that suit your needs if you do not have a particular model in mind. There is a questionnaire that asks you about your needs such as the size of car, price etc and then it suggests models that ...
...for. You can also sell your car on line for a very reasonable fee. There is also a link to www.parkers.co.uk. When you go to this site it gives you price guides for most cars so that you know what price to sell your car at or what is the best price to buy at and gives you details of cars for example what to look for when you are looking at a particular model and its pros and cons. Parkers also do a book that you can buy in the shops however it costs ...

Loadscars but not such a quick service.

Advantages: Good site
Disadvantages: Too slow and out of date

Autotrader.co.uk is a brilliant way to find yourself a new car. For example. I have just come into the market to relive my early 20's by buying an old Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI like I used to own. Great fun for the summer and a good restoration project for the Winter. I logged on and was immediately impressed with the site. Easy to navigate and find what you want. Its all broken down into sections such as cars, cans, boats ,caravans, etc. The cars ...
...went for the used car section to enter my search details. Problem 1. It is free to use but you have to register your details. No such thing as a free lunch. Once registered, it automatically realises you want to log in and does this for you. You dont have to wait for emails confirming your password but it sends you one anyway for the future. The search screen is very easy to use if you know eactly what you are looking for. Luckily I did and selected ...

A Superb Site For All

Advantages: Easy to use, clear, up to date
Disadvantages: None

The first place my husband visits when he accesses the Web is Auto Trader. This site is excellent whether you are actively looking for a car or just browsing. Are you looking for a car

Advantages: excellent wenbsite
Disadvantages: can be slow at times

...not look at this site, Autotrader.co.uk is fantastic for buying selling cars. Every Thursday they have the latest cars for sale, they have such a huge range, all you need to do is fill a search in so it is personalised, so they can search for cars that are near you. Some sites that have magazines that sell products don’t put the phone numbers on straight away but this does. The site is so easy to use, you don’t need to register just put in a search or alternatively click on one of the categories ...
