Evans direct - trendy clothes size 16 - 32

Advantages: Up to the minute fashion in sizes 16-32
Disadvantages: £2.95 delivery charge

Evans the high street store specialising in clothes for the larger lady has a website from which you can browse their range at www.evans.ltd.uk and also a catalogue from which you can order from. Long gone are the days when all you could pick up in your local Evans store was a flowery tent for that night out! Now they have an excellent range of clothing in up to date fashion. Also available is a good range of underwear, swimwear and footwear - my ...

Junk at high prices

Advantages: My husband likes me 16+
Disadvantages: The fashion industry should produce wearable clothes in all sizes - not fancy dress in size 8

In this section you will find an opinion from a lady who cannot find 16+ petite, everything being too long. There are also a couple of opinions on Evans, which are far too complimentary. I have been in there a couple of times recently (different branches) and I am amazed at the high prices being asked for poor quality fabrics and badly made clothes. One jacket I picked up, part of a mix-and-match range had an uneven hem, a loose button and looked ...
...What would that look like after a day at the office. The whole of the British fashion industry have to get used to the fact that the majority of women in this country do not look like Posh Spice and have no hope of ever doing so. Instead theyve invented another scam - undersizing to save money and make us feel miserable about our size. If a label says 16, then it should BE 16. A jacket I ordered from Look again was marked 18, yet it was smaller ...

Easy online 16+

Advantages: range of styles and sizes. Returns simplified by physical shops
Disadvantages: only those intrinsic to mail order for clothing

As the web face of the well known high street chain, it has to be said one of it's main advantages is those bricks and mortar stores. If returning things wasn't so easy (a quick trip to my local store) I would probably be less enthusiastic about ordering online, as clothes are so fiddly to judge without seeing them in person. Bearing in mind all the usual reservations about mail order clothing, this is actually a pretty good site - fairly well organised ...
...each main item, I just don't always understand at all what the relation is!) giving fairy detailed information about the clothes, and the photos are designed to actually show the clothes, rather than just project an image (If I'm buying a dress I want to see the whole dress, not just from the waist up!)> My local store doesn't carry the whole 'Seven' range (their funkier range), so this site is great from that point of view. Ordering is easy, although ...

Evans - easy fashion

Advantages: Wide choice of fashion
Disadvantages: Not all items always in stock

I've only recently discovered Evans - and now I wonder what took me so long! I'm slightly concious of my size and find it a little embarrassing looking round the shops for something that fits. At last I can mooch through pages of fashion in the comfort of my own home and have it delivered to my door to try on. No more embarrassment in public changing rooms! The selection is wide - and ordering is easy. One gripe I did have is that some things I chose ...

evans

Advantages: wide size 16+
Disadvantages: slow web site

Evans is unique as it has the widest range of fashion available anywere for a size 16+ in one place. I currently have the latest catalouge at home for evens direct and i find that there is more choice then in my local store but then the local store is extreamly small. There range goes from your basic wardrobe to sexy underwear to shoes and there is a great range for younger shoppers too. The prices are very reasonable and start at £10 for your basic ...
...tend to think larger ladies want to dress exactly the same as a skinny minny which isn't always the case ,some of the clothes arn't very flattering for a size 16+ i.e a hankerchief top, god would i look a site in that! but if you have the confidance to wear it then good luck. Over all a big thumbs up find then at www.evans.ltd.uk ...

Use to be great now just ok

Advantages: Look by product ie skirt
Disadvantages: No a big enough range

I have used evans online for many years, I found it particualy useful before i had my daughter and was still working in London. I never had the time to pop in for neccesities like tights and so found it useful just to order them online. I also liked to be able to search by product, so if i needed a skirt i didn't have to spend hours trawling through item after item, i could in one click see all the skirt they offered. This site use to be great, ...
...outfits, but I have noticed in the last year that they have reduced greatly the amount they sell online. They no longer sell tights or shoes and have a greatly reduced choice of items. I have found that sometimes I want to buy everything and other times can not find one thing i like, they seem to go from trendy to downright frumpy. ok you are able to shop by product, style or if u have there catalogue by product code. All the products come in ...

Great for Bigger Sizes!

Advantages: Fashionable clothes in large sizes
Disadvantages: a bit pricey

Evans, originally a size 16+ shop, are now stocking clothes from size 14+. Their clothes fit well, and are flattering (mostly). I find this shop is best for formal wear, suits, evening dresses etc. They also do casual wear, but it doesnt fit so well, and is overpriced, compared to other high street stores. If you're a size 14-18, you can buy clothes cheaper in New Look, Asda and Etams, but for size 20+, Evans gives you a good choice of fashionable ...
...bargain hunter, I don't go to Evans unless I'm looking for something special, as they rarely have sales or special offers. However, the staff are helpful (if a little skinny:) and they will help you find your size if it's not on the shelf. Evans also has a catalogue and online store. ...

Size 20 must I really wear old fashioned clothes

Advantages: No annoying beanpole shop assistants
Disadvantages: Generally for a less fashion conscious clientele

At a size 20 I am rather conscious of my size so was delighted at the thought of on-line shopping. No more quizzical glares from beanpole shop assistants!!. So one rainy afternoon I sat myself in front of my PC to select an outfit for an works evening out. I perused the site (which was admittedly easy to find your way around) to find a mixture of black and brown clothes designed to hang on anyone who would dare wear them and make the most toned ...

Avoid at all costs!

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: EVERYTHING!

Shopping with Evans mail order catalogue has been a total nightmare. The first time I ordered only 2 items out of 5 were available the others being sold out even though the catalogue had only been out a few weeks, the clothes were cut poorly, and were 'tent like' they had no shape to them at all and rather than flattering a fuller figure made it seem twice the size! When asking for my refund cheque, after many phonecalls and letters to them 5 months ...
...catalogues as often as once a month and usually they are the same catalogue as I had before!!! I told myself I would never buy from them again, but recently a year after the first time I decided to try again, again most items were sold out after the catalogue had only been out for 3 weeks!!! thankfully though my refund cheque arrived a few days later, but I don't think I will buy from Evans again. ...
