    Advantages Advantages The complete website

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Unfair advantage

The moment Andrew Gilligan broke the covenant of trust between the national broadcast media and the government, with that infamous 45 minutes quote, questioning the very legitimacy of the war in Iraq, the BBC, under its current guise, was doomed, not only under New Labour but the Tory's too, the pledge to get rid of Six Music and the Asian Network a rather desperate plea by the Director General to Cameron not to go further. Gilligan was correct to do what he did, diligent journalism indeed, and was proven right too, but when a government goes to war over its 'national interests abroad' it ... more

Advantages Advantages Very professional uptodate online content

Disadvantages Disadvantages compulsary TV licence fee

BBC BBC is listed as one of the top three searches on Google UK, so what is the BBC? The fact that Google say that it is one of the most searched terms in the UK is quite surprising to me as I have never searched for it on Google, though I think my wife uses the BBC website to checkout the Weather Forecast occasionally and on one rare occasion watched BBC TV on the Internet. Going by the Wikipedia definition, "The British Broadcasting Corporation, almost always referred to by its abbreviation "the BBC". The BBC was founded by John Reith in 1922. Since living with my wife who prefers Sky ... more

Advantages Advantages A superb web community

Disadvantages Disadvantages You don’t get paid for writing

The BBC website is one of the greatest, and H2G2 became a part of it in February 2001, so this is an opinion of H2G2, a website in a website, sorry, I know its annoying when an opinion you read isn’t actually about what you wanted, but H2G2 is probably the greatest community website of all (in my humble opinion, of course). The BBC web site has everything you would want to know about the BBC, its programmes (radio and TV), channels and such. I use it to find out the latest news from my wifes home country of Nigeria, The latest info about Doctor Who and The HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages None, really - it's never let me down

It’s estimated that the BBC website is one of the five most visited in the UK. Whether the source for that came from the Beeb or not I don’t know, but it’s certainly one of those I consult most regularly, and I’m sure I’m not alone. The home page will offer you links on a wealth of subjects, from Business & Money (Business News, E-commerce, Your Money), Children's (CBBC, CBBC Search), Entertainment (Films, Comedy), Health (Healthy Living, Parenting, Relationships), History (Ancient History, History for Kids, Wars), to Learning (Languages, Revision, Schools), Lifestyle (Antiques, Food ... more

Advantages Advantages Absolutely enormous amount of information

Disadvantages Disadvantages The search facility isn't wonderful, I suppose

The BBC's website at http://www.bbc.co.uk, otherwise known as "BBC Online", has been my browser start page from the very first day I ventured out onto the internet. There's never been any question of me changing it, and whenever I change ISP, and it decides to shove its own site in as the start page, I change it right back. So, what is it that makes the BBC's effort so good? Well, the heart and soul of the site is the news coverage (which you can get to directly via http://news.bbc.co.uk). Here you'll find links to about three "big stories", which are in little sections of their own, along ... more

'bbc.co.uk' is the homepage of the BBC website. The BBC is the 'British Broadcasting Corporation' which is the world's largest broadcaster in the world. The BBC website has undergone some more updates recently and it is more customisable.. The top part of the homepage contains the main news headlines 'local to your area'. You are able to customise the homepage to your specifications now which is great; you can do this by using the option to 'Set Your Location' at the top of the page. 'Set Your Location' shows a drop down box where you can select the 'UK version' or 'International Version' ... more

~ ~ As many of you are aware, the “mad cabbie” not only writes opinions here at Ciao, but is also a freelance journalist. As such, it is very important to me that I keep myself fully up-to-date with all the current home and international news, and what is making the headlines. I was always an avid reader in any case, especially of daily newspapers, but now I find that between my work as a taxi-driver, my journalism work, and the huge amount of time I spend on opinion sites like Ciao and dooyoo, (not to mention my beloved golf) that the best I can do is give one daily newspaper a ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages None really ( only very minor )

BBC.co.uk is a vast resource of information that will meet all the needs of people of any age and with nearly any interests. The BBC online idea was though up a few years back after the massive explosion of the World Wide Web and this prompted them to invest large amounts of money into another excellent service other than 24 hour terrestrial television. The BBC website offers what barely any other site on the internet does as it covers nearly every topic that will relate to you which include the following:- * News * Weather * Science * Arts * History * Sport * Live Chat * Entertainment * Food ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages no other tv channels

I am no great lover of the BBC especially on certain issues such as being forced to pay for it's running etc but I have used their website for all my information needs and still can't find a better site out there for news and sport. NEWS News is updated by the minute so if something happens out there you can find out in an instant and they will have anaylasis and comments about the story in minutes online and ready to read. Anthing that you take a further intrest in can be followed up by using links to relevent sites or delveing into the archives. Storys are always fairly accurate and contain ... more
