Advantages: Can get bargains, good selection of goods Disadvantages: Pricey p&p, you can end up buying tat!
I 'invested' in Sky Digital some 3 and a half years ago, once I had, I was amazed b the wide variet of channels! Upon flicking through the 647th channel- Bid UP TV (as it was then) I came across what appeared to be an online eBay, auctioning off saucepans, watches, golf lcubs and kiddies toys, absolutely enchanted by the bright orange set, I decided to sit down and have a watch. I wasn't overly impressed and found myself flicking though the rest of ...

Advantages: You may find a bargain Disadvantages: High delivery prices, unstable website
While flicking through the hundreds of channels on Sky a couple of years back, my husband happened upon Bid Up, a shopping channel with a difference. Instead of simply buying an item, you could bid on it, a little bit like Ebay only you would phone in your bid. After watching for a while we discovered there was a website that would let us join in the fun, and so we registered and took the plunge, placing several bids, some successful, but most that ...

Advantages: Bid-up shopping is very easy Disadvantages: Auctions may prove costly
I used to be an avid shopper at bid-up.tv because its so easy to buy and the bargains to be had seemed terrific.
The principle is to auction off approximately eight lots per hour, sometimes more if it is a speed auction.
An auctioneer describes the product, usually in glowing terms and great detail and a minimum bid is shown on the tv screen alongside a telephone number to ring to bid on the particular auction showing at the time. When you decide ...

Summary
Bid-up.tv is an interactive auction channel featuring on Sky Digital (647), Freeview (24), Ntlworld and Telewest. It is the sister channel of pricedrop.tv (see my review dated 1/1/2004) however, it has been established for a longer period of time and was one of the first live auction channels to be created on television.
There are approximately 6 to 10 auctions each hour, with the channel operating between 8 am and 1 am, 7 days a week, ...

Advantages: Many items are excellent value for money Disadvantages: the additional costs take the edge off your bargain
I am not too happy with some of the happenings of these channels. The fact you can only buy one item at a time (or pay P&P and call cost) on another phone. They boast a money back guarantee but they fail to say it doesn't include your P&P. I recently had to return a very cheap item because they sent the wrong size, even their invoice confirmed the size it should have been, but the label on the garment was a size smaller. I called and said I expected ...

Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: Registration is abit complicated
Bid-up.tv is a amazingly popular but low key auction channel that operates on Sky Digital and services alike such as NTL etc. With friendly presenters, friendly chit-chat Bid-up.tv make auctionering fun and honest, and value for money.
Items range from 100's of sets of plates to a collection of 10 recent DVD's. Most auctions start at £1.00 and move up from there, normally they have 40/50+ lots of each item but it really does vary. The quality of ...

Well my family and me must have discovered this TV show and WEBSITE about a year ago we decided to treat our selves and bought a digital box. Then we discovered this channel AND WEBSITE and decided to buy a few more treats oops. We must have spent a 1000 pounds or more, we bought all sorts from clothes, games to ornaments. And boy did we pay the price my parents were addicted to the program and wouldn't stop buying things.

Advantages: fantastic chance to view and buy gifts ect, at a greatly reduced price Disadvantages: you have to know weights on jewelrey (grams ect)
In my opinion, bid-up. TV has to be the best site on the web and TV.
I have bid and won loads of gifts. Both on TV, and on the web.
It is the easiest thing I have ever taken part in. The directions are made absolutely clear both on the phone and on the web.
I have bought most of my Christmas gifts at bid-up. I have returned a curb necklace because I wanted a thick chain for my husband. And not understanding the gram weight, (7g) it was to thin ...

Advantages: Bid what you can afford Disadvantages: Last minute bidders nicking your bargain
One day last december i was flicking through the channels on my Frewview box only to come across BIDUPTV. I decided to watch out of interest and within an hour I was a fully fledged website member. The hosts are funny and explain things in plain simple fashion with the added glitz of some rather sexy girl assistants by their sides.
The concept is easy. Every 10 minutes or so the auctioneer introduces a new item for sale - this item could range ...

Trying to get a refund for non delivery is almost impossible, as all they keep telling you is to wait ten days for a returns form.
When this doe,s not arrive they tell you a second form will be with you asap, but what they mean is another ten days.
In my view this firm is a load of crap where customer services concerned.

Advantages: Ease of access, frequent auctions. Disadvantages: Need to phone in to bid, if you bid when viewing the tv.
This service is very impressive. The bargains, to be had, are tremendous, in my opinion. Excellent value for money, a saving of over £70 on two formula one racing car and track sets, alone. There is viewing of the products, time to judge whether you feel they are worth the estimate, and how much you may save. Then the bidding, hots up, once the clock is on screen. The minimum bid, shows exactly as it sounds, the minimum price you must bid, to be a ...

Advantages: You get to shop for items that may not be available in your local area Disadvantages: Items are repeated and may sell for much less than you have paid earlier
I used Bid-Up TV to buy many of my christmas presants this year. It saved a lot of time wandering around the shops. I bought some really high quality name brand products at significant savings. The process of bidding over the telephone is very easy.
I have recently started to bid over the internet this has the advantage of setting your highest bid before the auction starts and then if the item sells for a lower figure than your bid you get the ...

Advantages: Buying from chair! excellent range of goods Disadvantages: P+P is a little too high on some things
Bid-up.tv is the most brilliant concept I have ever come across! It’s the consumer friendly auction for couch potatoes! You can either bid by phone which costs 75 p per minute or use the website to bid for free. The auctioneers are very good and one in particular is a real hoot, Andy Hodgson is his name I think. He could quite easily get a job on mainstream TV as a funny man. The goods range from bikes to jewellery and everything in between. Some ...
