    Well not really but I did need to get your attention. I have been using Copernic for just over three years and have bitten the bullet and upgraded to the Plus (paid) version. As I use it for Business research this has turned out to be a great investment, and for probably the same reasons as everyone else. But, never mind repetition, here are my reasons. Appearance. Not a pretty start page but "functional" with a very good windows look and feel menu bar.     I have a saw in my garage, a limb chipper in my shed, and Copernic on my computer. What do these items have in common?     You know it's only when you REALLY want to find something on the Internet that you realise just how many search engines there are out there. Some are excellent, some are adequate, while others have fallen so far behind the times so much they're downright useless. But how do you know? If you're looking for something in particular then the best way of going about it is to sit and scan through a whole lot of the available search engines in the hope that maybe one or two of them will be able to point you in the right direction. Everyone who has ever been on the internet (and even those who haven’t) knows of the huge amount of search engines out there, Lycos, Yahoo, MSN, etc. Each of the search engines has its good points and its bad points.     Disadvantages Disadvantages can be slow to run depending on your connection

    I always used to hate using search engines... The thing I was looking for was impossible to define in keywords, they all have their own individual quirks (such as using Boolean logic or not), and they're either totally US-biased (even so-called UK versions of MSN and Altavista) or British and a bit crap. And it took so looooong... I knew they'd all find different things, and I wished there was some way I could search them all simultaneously and get only the most useful results.     Advantages Advantages Searches multiple search engines at the same time which in itself saves time. Has the Validator to weed out dead links.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes a hefty chunk of System Resources if yuo're not careful.

    Copernic 2000 is what you could define in the broadest terms as a local search engine. Not very exciting so far - I mean, there are hundreds of search engines all over the internet, the big players being the ones used every day by the internet searching community. But what if I told you that Copernic can be 15 search engines in one go? Copernic 2000 takes your search criteria and submits it to the search for fields of up to 15 major search engines and collects the results from them and displays them within the program.     Copernic 2000 is an excellent piece of software. You can use this service for free and can be used on most computers. The system requirements are windows 95/98/NT4/2000/ME Netscape 3 and later,or internet explorer 3 and later. You are limited to what you can use for free but to me it does everything I want it to. You can pay extra money for an enhanced version but I think the free one is adequate. The file doesn't take too long to download, depending on the speed of your computer etc. The copernic icon sits nicely on the desk top waiting for you to click on it and fire it up.     Advantages Advantages Very comprehensive search engine

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can give a very large number of hits, some duplicated.

    www.copernic.com can be downloaded to your PC free of charge in its basic form, although you can pay a premium to download enhanced versions. In its basic form, you only have to ask it to search for whatever you specify. It will then search around 12 of the biggest search engines simultaneously and give you up to 10 hits from each engine giving yoy the hits wcich cover all or most of the words yoy asked it to find. Its quick, and VERY effective. Its absolutely ideal for finding answers to general knowledge crossword clues where the answers are otherwise hard to find. ... more

    I have been using copernic 2000 as my search engine for about a month now, You can ask it to find a subject by inputting one word or a whole phrase. It will search the majority of search engines for you (on my version you can ask for "the web" or "the web UK" to be looked at). To me it seems extremley fast and comes up with plenty of categories for you to look at. It doesn't give one word answers, it adds details as to what you will find on the sites.
