A big question mark from a buyers perspective

Advantagesalternative to traditionally large auction sites, UK hosted

Disadvantagesuser privacy not enforced, lacks basic features

"...are pages located on the CQout.com server. While I understand that transparency is of importance I vehemently deny the need for indexing profile and rating-related pages using search engines. Not only does it give quick access to private information to (possibly malicious) users but it is also in violation of the CQout privacy policy stating "CQout does not pass on [...]personal data to any third party [...]". By letting search engines have access ..." Read review

Life after Yahoo

AdvantagesClear well laid out site

Disadvantagesnothing to report yet

"With Yahoo auctions shutting up shop, I thought I better take a look around and see what else I could find, and I came across www.CQout.com which I thought was worth a mention. First thing I noticed is that CQout charges commission and even charges £1 for registration. Not at all like Yahoo which was all free, but then again, you don’t need to be a Harvard Business School graduate to figure out that you don’t have a business if you don’t charge ..." Read review

CQout of the net

AdvantagesThe money you pay to register goes to charity

Disadvantagesalmost everything on the site

"CQout is a auction site I discovered about a two week's ago and I was amazed there was a type of auction site I had not yet seen or heard of. So I gave it a week's trial and it seemed ok for the first few day's but then I did not get no bids at all.So I waited until the end of all of my auction's to see if someone had bid on them and no-one did. I contacted the auction master and put in the e-mail I have listed 57 items and not one of them got ..." Read review

Silly Name-- Lots of Bargains

AdvantagesClear and simple to use

Disadvantages£1 to register

"I first came across CQout when I did a search for auctions in a search engine, I was looking to see if there were any new sites. The search engine listing said something like “ Seek out a real bargain at CQout…”. I was glad it was put that way because I would have never got what CQout stood for .. Clever, maybe a little too clever !! I registered which cost £1, at first I thought what a cheek, but straight away I was beginning ..." Read review

CQout.com-Safe and easy

AdvantagesProfessionally set up and run & No sale no fee!

DisadvantagesCan't think of any but I guess nothing is perfect !

"Try CQout.com It is Safe and easy I have used CQout.several times to both buy and sell. I have bought a variety of items such from CD writer and Blank CDs to a golf balls and a 7 wood. The latter even came with free and helpful advise from the seller ( a professional golf outlet). I have sold a number of specialised items of equipment to the Dental Profession. In all cases, the transactions were straightforward, honest and business-like. The ..." Read review

An end to Freeserve Auctions- The alternatives

AdvantagesNo Listing Fees

DisadvantagesVery strict site rules, on user conduct

"As the doors close on Freeserve auctions and all previous users are shuffled across like cattle to eBay, also affectionately known to its users as FeeBay, because of the high fees they charge, I thought it was time for me to do a round of available UK sites and see alternatives exist. There are a lot of small “free” type auctions around like Avabid, Yeeha, Bloke in the pub, ubid, etc. In my experience these are a real waste of time. I have listed ..." Read review

A FIRST CLASS NET AUCTION SITE

AdvantagesEasy to use, simple but effective layout

DisadvantagesNone really to speak of

"I have recently found what turns out to be an excellent internet auction web site. It is called CQout or www.cqout.com. Unlike some other auction houses on the net, I was delighted to find how simple it is to use and to navigate around the site. The five key buttons are at the top of the Home Page AND all others. Thus, to repeat, navigation is made easy. To actually buy and/or sell items for auction, there is a registration process. This also ..." Read review

Nicely laid out site but £1 to register!

Advantageseasy to navigate

Disadvantages£1 to register, low content

"Why oh why do www.cqout.co.uk insist on charging a £1 registration fee? OK it goes to charity, but in the competitive internet auction market its about the only distinctive thing about the site! The layout is easy to use and it loads OK, just like a lot of other sites. There isn't really a great deal of content and the impression that I got was that it was probably about 20 people selling all the items. Its really an imitaion of the Ebay site and ..." Read review

this is a site i would definatly recommend

Advantagesthe ease of use

Disadvantagesnone that i know of

"I am a student and keen on the Internet. I have my own WebPages selling Corinthian football figures. A few months ago I came across CQout, and soon became a fan. My first pleasant surprise was how friendly and helpful the support team running the site were when I sent them an email. To be honest it was a shock just finding real people behind a web-site. It really make a big difference when you can hold an email conversation with a person at the ..." Read review

Silly name - great principle.

AdvantagesSecurity

DisadvantagesLack of buyers and sellers

"Online auctions are really two a penny these days (and with the QXL share price collapsing the way it has been probably 3 a penny soon!). I have been using online auctions for sometime and the most frustrating thing about using this format is the lack of comeback on sellers and buyers that default. (Particularly Yahoo during half term!) CQout's catch line of being the 'most secure online auction ' made it worth a look. First impression - not ..." Read review

Wow. What a site.

AdvantagesNo listing fees, quick to use, secure, registration fee to charity

DisadvantagesNone

"This is the best site ever. It is easy to use, it's secure, it has a great range of listings and you deal with like-minded people. I love it so much that I am selling all my bits and pieces from the spare room through CQOut - my husband is so proud of me! The registration fee going to charity is such a fab idea. The site helps me and I help someone else. What a pleasure to know I am doing good to others while doing myself good too! I have ..." Read review

CQout, Don't Bother You Won't Miss a Thing

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesFavours the Seller and Never Encourages the Buyer

"CQout is frankly a rubbish site that actually seems to favour the seller instead of encouraging the buyer. BUYERS BEWARE. I recently logged an "Instant Bid" for a laptop Wireless LAN Card. I had to contact the seller, as although he advertised that he accepted PayPal on the item he did not have a registered email with them when I tried to pay, STRANGE EH! When I called him he said that as PayPal fees were exorbitant he had stopped dealing with ..." Read review

Quick review of cqout.com

"I find CQOut a refreshing change to eBay, and it is streets ahead of the likes of eBid. Customer support levels are excellent. I received a neg from somebody unjustifiably, and CQOut removed it before I even realised it was there! How's that for customer service? eBay please take note. Plus, the free listing is nice. Traffic is not as good as eBay, but it is picking up and it is worth perservering.

Seems really good

Advantageseasy

Disadvantagesnone so far

"I visited cqout.com for the first time after seeing the banner on ciao. I was really impressed, the homepage was really simple to follow, and after signing up you could bid for what ever you wanted. The good thing is that there's a huge variety so your not confined and the bidding is simple and very easy. I haven't bought anything yet but I have put a few bids in, you can pick up some really good bargains. I have tried other online auctions ..." Read review

CQout - A needle in the haystack

AdvantagesSecurity, Hassle free sales, no listing fees

DisadvantagesLess members than ebay

"This is a brilliant website that takes security seriously. The in house payment systems make for fast yet secure and reliable methods of payment compared to Ebay. I have bought from there twice and have both times been extremely happy with the service i get. There are less scammers on CQOut than on Ebay due to the £1 fee for signing up which is ultimately given to charity anyway. The feedback is nearly always without a negative and this is due ..."
