Advantages Advantages alternative to traditionally large auction sites, UK hosted

Disadvantages Disadvantages user privacy not enforced, lacks basic features

CQout has been around for quite a while now (since 1999). I registered last year (around March 2003) and have had both good and bad experiences. It is an auction site like many others: it offers items in a large variety of categories (much like eBay and others) including the obvious "Arts & Antiques", all variations of electronics, collectables, clothing, etc. but also tickets and seats for concerts etc. (Unlike many other auction sites, it includes an X-rated section that is available to within Europe and is even browseable without registering first.) One thing in particular is tarnishing ... more

Advantages Advantages Clear well laid out site

Disadvantages Disadvantages nothing to report yet

With Yahoo auctions shutting up shop, I thought I better take a look around and see what else I could find, and I came across www.CQout.com which I thought was worth a mention. First thing I noticed is that CQout charges commission and even charges £1 for registration. Not at all like Yahoo which was all free, but then again, you don’t need to be a Harvard Business School graduate to figure out that you don’t have a business if you don’t charge for your services !!!!! I wonder how many of investors’ millions was poured down the drain by Yahoo proving that obvious point?…. but that is a ... more

Advantages Advantages The money you pay to register goes to charity

Disadvantages Disadvantages almost everything on the site

CQout is a auction site I discovered about a two week's ago and I was amazed there was a type of auction site I had not yet seen or heard of. So I gave it a week's trial and it seemed ok for the first few day's but then I did not get no bids at all.So I waited until the end of all of my auction's to see if someone had bid on them and no-one did. I contacted the auction master and put in the e-mail I have listed 57 items and not one of them got any bid's.The auction master replyed and said "we are very sorry but it is not our problem if you do not get any bid's on your auction's".So i replyed ... more

Advantages Advantages Clear and simple to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages £1 to register

I first came across CQout when I did a search for auctions in a search engine, I was looking to see if there were any new sites. The search engine listing said something like “ Seek out a real bargain at CQout…”. I was glad it was put that way because I would have never got what CQout stood for .. Clever, maybe a little too clever !! I registered which cost £1, at first I thought what a cheek, but straight away I was beginning to like the site because the £1 registration fee was to check the user’s true credentials, and I liked the fact that some sort of checking was ... more

Advantages Advantages Professionally set up and run & No sale no fee!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any but I guess nothing is perfect !

Try CQout.com It is Safe and easy I have used CQout.several times to both buy and sell. I have bought a variety of items such from CD writer and Blank CDs to a golf balls and a 7 wood. The latter even came with free and helpful advise from the seller ( a professional golf outlet). I have sold a number of specialised items of equipment to the Dental Profession. In all cases, the transactions were straightforward, honest and business-like. The items bought, arrived promptly and were properly boxed/wrapped. I like the registration process since it provides considerable peace of mind. ... more

    Advantages Advantages No Listing Fees

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very strict site rules, on user conduct

As the doors close on Freeserve auctions and all previous users are shuffled across like cattle to eBay, also affectionately known to its users as FeeBay, because of the high fees they charge, I thought it was time for me to do a round of available UK sites and see alternatives exist. There are a lot of small “free” type auctions around like Avabid, Yeeha, Bloke in the pub, ubid, etc. In my experience these are a real waste of time. I have listed items on these sites but they have very little traffic and they don’t last long. It seems they pop-up one day and they quietly disappear a few months ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, simple but effective layout

Disadvantages Disadvantages None really to speak of

I have recently found what turns out to be an excellent internet auction web site. It is called CQout or www.cqout.com. Unlike some other auction houses on the net, I was delighted to find how simple it is to use and to navigate around the site. The five key buttons are at the top of the Home Page AND all others. Thus, to repeat, navigation is made easy. To actually buy and/or sell items for auction, there is a registration process. This also turned out to be simple, but there is a fee. BUT this fee is only £1 and this money goes direct to charity. I did enquire why the organisers of this site ... more

    Advantages Advantages easy to navigate

Disadvantages Disadvantages £1 to register, low content

Why oh why do www.cqout.co.uk insist on charging a £1 registration fee? OK it goes to charity, but in the competitive internet auction market its about the only distinctive thing about the site! The layout is easy to use and it loads OK, just like a lot of other sites. There isn't really a great deal of content and the impression that I got was that it was probably about 20 people selling all the items. Its really an imitaion of the Ebay site and as far as the look and feel then I would rate the navigation and menus as better than Ebay, but thats it! ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages none that i know of

I am a student and keen on the Internet. I have my own WebPages selling Corinthian football figures. A few months ago I came across CQout, and soon became a fan. My first pleasant surprise was how friendly and helpful the support team running the site were when I sent them an email. To be honest it was a shock just finding real people behind a web-site. It really make a big difference when you can hold an email conversation with a person at the other end rather than be sent to a huge list of FAQ’s to try and find an answer to your question which happens on a lot of other sites. Of course ... more

    Advantages Advantages Security

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of buyers and sellers

Online auctions are really two a penny these days (and with the QXL share price collapsing the way it has been probably 3 a penny soon!). I have been using online auctions for sometime and the most frustrating thing about using this format is the lack of comeback on sellers and buyers that default. (Particularly Yahoo during half term!) CQout's catch line of being the 'most secure online auction ' made it worth a look. First impression - not a bad looking site - very functional (which is a good thing) and I do like those big navigation buttons at the top that follow you around the site so you ... more
