B & don't Q

Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: no price match guarantee online

This website is really well laid out and is very useful if you're a busy person and need info quick. The special offers section is particually good and the pictures are big enough and clear enough to make sure you're buying the right thing without seeing it. B&Qs price match promise is great. No only will they refund the difference but they'll also give you 10% extra. The only problem is that this doesn't apply online so watch out. The learning ...
...tasks such as ... fitting kitchens, tiling and plastering - just print off and away you go. Great website if you need opening times, nearest branch, contact details ect. Vey easy to navigate. Overall One of the best home improvement websites with very competative prices. ...

Half price kitchen offer not true

Advantages: It's at the end of my road
Disadvantages: They blatently lie

I had a quote for a kitchen on 20th November 08, nice, the lady came to my house and did the CAD to show me what the kitchen would look like, but I felt the installation costs were a bit steep so I shelved it for a couple of weeks, reasoning that the cost of the actual kitchen would be unlikely to change, and I would get a couple of quotes from some independant fitters for comparison. I was very pleased to find that, immediately after christmas, ...
...Based on this offer, I would save £1300 on fitting alone, never mind the half price kitchen - much better than the price the independants were likely to be able to offer. So I hot-footed down to my local store to have them re-jig my quote and waited excitedly for it to come through the door. Imagine my shock when comparing the new and old quotes that the cost of installation has roughly DOUBLED since my quote 6 weeks ago (how convenient) and the ...

It has taken over 7 weeks the installation Two B & Q appointed contractors employed, shoddy workmanship by first contractor. No response from store manager, sales and design person or Customer service Manager on complaining and writing about shoddy workmanship and delay in supply of goods. Quick review of diy.co.uk ( B & Q )

The B&Q website is a joke. Although there is an advert in the paper for a loft ladder for less than £30, can we find it on the website? No way. It has all the ease of access of a labyrinth. Past experience of B&Q hasn't proved to be a great experience. The parts of a kitchen were delivered in four separate bits, and that only after much hassle. All in all, I'd recommend shopping elsewhere, online and otherwise. ...

Quick review of diy.co.uk ( B & Q )

I recently purchased sliding wardrobe doors from B&Q in Plymouth. After taking the first set back, the second set proved there to be a fault in the design. Despite the display set in store showing the same problem, the staff were unwilling to accept liability and one member of staff was extremely rude. The customer service via the store and the telephone were both dreadful. Having provided B&Q with a lot of custom whilst building our extension, we would expect a higher quality of customer service. ...

Dont pay before you check stock availability

Advantages: you wont pay your money out
Disadvantages: none

seems they like to take your money then after 2/3 day later they tell you it is out of stock, When we ordered our patio doors on the 22/07/2008 we where told they would be delivered on the 28/07/08. we where then informed they on the 24/07/08 that there was one item missing from our order IE; the fixed panel door it was not in stock, since then we have been given 2 different delivery date`s of stock but low and behold they did not arrive Today the ...
...promised delivery. When enquiries where made through the store manager i get insulted by his ranting and raving and i was told never to shop there again . If this is the way B&Q treat their customers I my family and friends will not shop there again. My advice to customers of B&Q check it is in stock before you pay for it or better still shop elswhere. This particular store is located on junction 9 M62 warrington. ...

Don't Order A Kitchen !

Advantages: Excellent Sales & Design Staff in Store
Disadvantages: Absolute Rubbish Back-up Staff And Delivery Times/Failed Delivery

I ordered and paid for kitchen 4th April 2008. Delivery was quoted 24th May, 7 weeks and 1 day later. Seems a while you might think, but I was told this was because they had such good Easter in terms of orders that this was the best they could do, so I had to accept it. Well, after waiting 7 weeks + my kitchen was delivered but without any worktops ! Anybody who has ever fitted a kitchen will know that without worktops there is only so much work ...

Not impressed with B&Q website

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Not always the full range and do not carry all accesories you may require.

Have just read the other reviews and have to disagree with most of them. The layout of the website looks dreadful, I appreciate that they have used corporate colour scheme but the colour of text makes it difficult to read. The initial images of products are very poor and you have to enlarge them to get a better look. This makes it time consuming to navigate the site. I have been to a store and then tried find the same products on the website It ...

B&Q..Great if you dont want to buy a hose!!!

Advantages: lots of products to choose from, good value for money, saves searching round aisles of cement!
Disadvantages: certain items are really hard to find, expensive delivery charge

My mission started after sorting though boxes of books and deciding that I really could do with a book shelf, I also needed a hose for washing the back yard out and the only place where I figured I could buy both items was B&Q. Now I could have taken a 15 minute trip down the road to my local store but I'm pregnant and the thought of traipsing round aisle after aisle of DIY tools, paints and door knobs didn’t really appeal to me so I decided ...

You are not overloaded with too much information or products which encouraged me to explore further! SEARCHING: ...

No augments; just great service

Advantages: Great customer service; friendly returns
Disadvantages: Nothing really - read on

It’s rare that I write an opinion where I have praise for something and have little to criticise, but after reading on here many people’s bitter experiences with retailers I thought I would add a good one for some balance! Over a year ago I purchased an air conditioning unit from DIY.com. It was relatively good value (about 300 quid) and because there were offering free delivery at the time, it seemed easier than buying it from the store and then ...
...of buying from the website was quick and easy - including being able to choose my delivery date. The product arrived on the correct date and the driver took it straight into the kitchen. Because it was a “kerb side” delivery service, I thought he’d leave me with the task of getting into the house – so it was a refreshing change to have a no "jobs-worth" driver. I then had fun removing the heap of packaging and humping it up 3 flights of stairs ...

To start with this web site looks as good as any other and better than quite a few. I'm sure it is easier when you want say an 'Internal door' as they have a department for that. ...

Now we have a room full of loft insulation.

Advantages: quick, easy, effective
Disadvantages: none

Normally we walk over the Hill to B&Q, which is fine if you want something small, but not suitable for big purchases. It is an even less helpful solution if they don't happen to have the one thing you really need. It was therefore out of necessity rather than enthusiasm that I hoped online to investigate the B&Q website. I would imagine that if you are wise in the ways of DIY the site will make a lot of sense - with products arrayed under their general ...
...who spends a long time wandering hopelessly from aisle to aisle, you may find the online expereince is comparable. The search facilities are good, but the more you know about what you want to buy, the better chance you have of finding it. EG- we want to buy a waterproof paint. We search through paint, through masonry stuff, we eventually end up with a bituminous paint sold as 'for roofing' it takes a while. We want loft insulation. We search for ...
