Ebay. Everyone talks about how wonderful, or annoying, ebay is/can be. I have to admit that I thought ebay was a great thing when I was looking for a prom dress. Got a nice red ball gown for £58. Disadvantages: Listing cost, final value @ 10% of auction plus additional paypal costs,

Ebay now charge so much it's not worth selling nik naks from around the home for 99p, since they bought paypal they charge you 3 times, listing fee, final value fee and paypal fee. This is now not worth my while. Thanks ebay, you have effectively stopped small time sellers. Once upon a time I used to work from home and make a living by selling 12" records on ebay, nowadays it's not viable to sell anything under a quid unless you are listing 700 similar ... Read review

eBay? What can I say about eBay? well basically eBay has been a haven for me for the past few years. I have bought and sold many, many things on this site and in my eyes, its the only place you should go to if your selling something. The site is so easy to use as you can basically search for any item you want straight from the homepage. Results are quick and appear instantly. Disadvantages: postage costs can deter sales but this is not Ebay`s fault.

In my opinion and in my experience the services of Ebay have encouraged me to earn money, recycle items of no further usage and to help others obtain items at a lesser cost than would have been possible before. By displaying an item for sale or for auction on Ebay I have the whole world as potential customers. If I only had a shop I would only have the people who passed by my windows and door. Disadvantages: Compulsory Free P&P on certain categories, complaining very hard, fixed width design: non w3c

Ebay make it compulsory that you have to have free postage and packaging on products in categories like bags and DVDs. But lets you charge what you like in the jewellery category. When you enter something in a category that is enforced by ebay as free p&p it still lets you type in an amount but then throws up the error when you try and submit the listing 'postage cannot be more than £0.00' so why is that field there then? Disadvantages: Very expensive to sellers and biased towards buyers - easily scammed and open to abuse.

As both a seller and a buyer and am now really disappointed at the way that e-bay has shifted the bias towards buyers and taken away the ability of sellers to leave negative feedback about dubious buyers. From experience buyers can take ages to pay for an item and then demand a refund on the basis that they do not like the item or for other superfluous reasons without the seller being able to respond in a structured manner.
