Advantages Advantages Single payment then free listing & no selling fees for store owners

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not all sellers seem to compare their prices before listing

I began my eBid evolutionary journey as a casual browser when I was sent to explore this 'new site' in 1998/99, whilst working for a newspaper. At that point, we were all just getting to grips with the fact that we could buy and sell via the Internet, so the prospect of a UK based auction phenomenon was really exciting. Not only could I claim my online exploration as research, I could also suss out some bargains and explore the possibility of earning some lucrative extra income. Wholeheartedly, I marched into eBid, mouse in one hand, coffee cup in the other, and it was love at first sight. By ... more

Advantages Advantages Free listings, bargains to be had, some nice features

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not many bidders, less choice of goods than eBay, high 'Security Subscription', PPPay integrated into the system

I am an eBay addict, so what am I doing writing about a rival auction site? I stumbled on eBid by accident, being desperate for an item that wasn't available on eBay. I did a search on google for auction sites, and so found eBid. I have been using the site for a couple of years now. In case anyone reading this does not know about eBay either, both sites are on-line auction sites where you can buy and sell almost anything - from a pencil to a car, and from a pair of knickers to a stereo system. You have to register to bid or sell, and the URL for ebid is www.ebid.co.uk or www.ebid.tv. They have ... more

    Advantages Advantages NO SELLING FEES

Disadvantages Disadvantages A NEW SITE NOT MANY HAVE HEARD OF THERFORE NOT AS MUCH CHOICE.

This IS the new 'ebay'. Many years ago, I discovered ebay and quickly became a devotee, having several times created and deleted accounts for one reason or another. Over my time on there I became more and more disgruntled with it. This is due, partly because of the new meanness of the buyers who seem to no longer delight in getting a bargain at a good low price, but who now seem to have devised buying strategies which include, watching an item until its last seconds and only then placing a bid thus ensuring that they only pay the starting price. All very well if you are a buyer, but if you are ... more

Advantages Advantages Still undiscovered territory so stake your claim while you can

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's all so hush-hush!

****For Buyers***** This is a great site for buyers because so many buyers have their noses stuck in Ebay that they often forget that there are great bargains to be had on other auction sites out there! Since the Ebay fee increases, many Ebay sellers have flocked over to Ebid as it's free for them to list. And as it's free for sellers to list on Ebid, many of them pass on these savings to their customers. Just looking through many of the categories on the site, it's amazing how things that are often bid to impossible prices on Ebay, are still sitting at a diddly squat 99p on Ebid - and so many ... more

Advantages Advantages FREE!!! And 100% excellent customer service!

Disadvantages Disadvantages needs to make potential users more aware of it's presence

As a keen eBay user, but SICK of the fees imposed on almost everything when selling, I decided to look for an alternative. I found all the usual ones, but none held any interest for me, especially as they were smaller, had way less buyers, but still charged fees. Then I found eBid. Which was 100% free to list items, with NO Final Value Fees. In January 2003 I joined and listed a few bits and pieces. I didn't really expect much to come from it at the time, as the site and forums were pretty quiet, although the range of items listed was very varied and interesting enough for me to place some ... more

Advantages Advantages Exceptional customer service, very fast growing and no fees

Disadvantages Disadvantages not as big as ebay... duh who is?

As online auction sites go this is the best i've seen. I think the easiest way to give you a true idea of how good it is is to directly compare it to the current 'best' auction site which is ebay listing Fees: Well as we all probably know by now ebay has recently raised all of there fees making life for sellers of small low value/collectable items a living hell as the fees cancel out any profit they make eBid has the advantage the it charges no listing fees or final value fees, you pay nothing to set up a buyers account, and a 1 off payment of £2.50 is all that is needed to upgrade to a ... more

Advantages Advantages Generally cheaper than Ebay

Disadvantages Disadvantages fraudulent sellers/buyers common on all auction sites

www.ebid.co.uk is a site I only really noticed around 6 weeks ago. I had never heard of it before, and, as some of the non-ebay auction sites are a bit empty, I wasn't expecting much. So, imagine my surprise to find there were thousands and thousands of items on there! Okay, so not as many as Ebay, but not too shabby either. It was easy to join, and if you register a credit card details with them, you can immediately jump from bronze to silver status. Buying is simple if you have been on the auction sites before, competition is not so intense as Ebay and there is less chance of someone ... more

Advantages Advantages FREE, fantastic support, friendly forums for help and advice... FREE!

Disadvantages Disadvantages not enough people know about it!

Hi, I am a member (buyer and seller) in several auction sites (ebid, ebay, QXL.com, amazon etc) but I'd just like to say out of every auction site I have came across so far - ebid is the best! The first distinct advantage it has is that its FREE! Yes you read it right - you can sell an item on there without paying any listing, selling or membership fees. Even opening up your own shops free! You do have options where you can upgrade your listings much like ebay but the prices are so cheap I upgrade on every auction. (2% final value for gallery or 40p for a FRONT PAGE FEATURED AUCTION!). I dont ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages fraudulant sellers

I have moved my ebay op to the ebay bit were its meant to be but a while ago Ebid.co.uk is one of the only online sites that i trust with my. Although there are a lot of methods used to combat the problem of false sellers there are always those who slip through the net and manage to sting people for hundreds of pounds. I have heard many stories of this happening but the one that sticks in my mind is this one; My friend decided he trusted Ebid as he had made many many purchases from their and bought a computer foolishly forgetting to check the sellers feedback. And low and behold he sent a ... more

    Advantages Advantages List for free

    Disadvantages Disadvantages not many

Ebid is the best internet auction site. Advantages for Buyers. Due to the recent massive changes on ebay such as a huge hike in listing fee's, changes to the search that is now in favour of the big boys that ebay have done special deals with, and changes to the feedback system etc, many Ebay sellers have flocked over to Ebid because it is free for them to list. Many sellers pass on these savings to their customers. Go and look through the many categories on Ebid. It is amazing how things that are often bid to impossible prices on Ebay, are selling for a lot lower prices on Ebid. So it looks ... more
