Advantages: Easy to place an order Disadvantages: Object never arrived
Certainly my worst experience of purchasing on line.
After almost three weeks I find out my electronic item is discontinued.
There was no communication from the company and attempts to access them both on line and by phone were very time consuming. I now hope to get my refund but time will tell. When I finally got through by telephone the person that I dealt with was extremely polite and pleasant and said he could only apologise for my experience ...
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Misleading and lied to.
Rubbish - avoid them like the plague.
Ordered an Otterbox on-line, with a 1-4 day delivery date via Royal Mail.
Received my e-mail confimration saying my item had been shipped the next day.
Wait the alloted 4 working days, because I know Royal Mail have their moments, then phone Expansys.
I was told that it was shipped the day of my order, but from the US!!!
Estimated delivery should be within 21 days, but if it hasn't come by then, call us ... ...told I couldn't until the item arrived, and I could then send it back and get a refund.
This is of course a lie. Under the Distance Selling Regulations, you can cancel at any time.
Two weeks later, I'm still waiting, and their website still shows the item I wanted as being in stock at their Central warehouse in Slough, which is not true. ...

Advantages: Good Prices Disadvantages: Poor service, Attitude
I've just bought a PDA plus a lots of bits from these people. The prices are great but the experience hardly makes it worth it.
The order was delayed because I needed to confirm my identity by fax. It's very laudable to try and prevent fraud but when I watched the fax transmit 3 times and they still claimed not to have received it, it's frustrating and they missed the shipment deadline.
The biggest problem was their online tracking which gave wrong ... ...bwhen they hadn't at all so I wasted over a day hanging around and calling them and shipping agents. Spent nearly a hour in total on the phone.
Calls take ages to answer and whilst the front end people are pretty good, the customer services manager's attitude was curt, not at all apologetic and basically said 'take it or leave it'.
They did refund some postage (but got it back by charging over £5 on a £7 item that had gone out of stock since I ...

Advantages: Had product no one else in UK had Disadvantages: Couldn't deliver it.
My experience of expansys has so far been pretty poor.
I ordered a Roku Soundbridge which showed as 7 days for delivery. At this stage the item was IN STOCK at their US site. Working for an import company, I know that a standard UPS service to the UK takes 2 days.
After 7 days I emailed them and was told the item would be another 5 days. I questioned this and was told they were waiting for stock.
I pointed out that their US site was showing stock ... ...5 days later I contacted them again and was told they were still waiting for stock.
My order now shows 6 days expected lead time and their web site says 5 days expected lead time.
I could have ordered this item directly from the US roku site and had it delivered for less money faster.
I think they make up their lead times to secure orders. They certainly have not lived up to my expectations - order cancelled.
I will not be buying from them again. ...

Advantages: Travel with only one power adapter for phones, pdas, gps, ipods etc Disadvantages: none
I already own an iGo Wallpower charger, with which I'm very happy. I wanted to collect the right power tips so that when we travel I need to carry only one charger rather than the motley collection of chargers, cords and adapters we normally need. Expansys were the only place in the UK I could find this particular tip for my wife's Palm M515. Having ordered it, my order sat for a few days with a future expected delivery date. So I contacted Expansys ... ...said they'd get one shipped from the US as a special order. Not only did they do this, but they kept me fully informed about when I could expect it. All for an item that cost under £4 including shipping. In my opinion this is great customer service and I'll happily use Expansys again (and again...) Oh, and the power tip charges the Palm, just as it said it would. Very pleased. ...

Advantages: NONE - All i have is inconvenience and expense Disadvantages: See above
I recently lost my contract Nokie E71 and being unable to afford the high cost of replacing it, I looked out for a cheap replacement. As I like to use my phone as a diary and organiser, I wanted one that ran Windows mobile in order that I can synchronise it with Outlook on my computer. I was delighted when I saw that Expansys were selling Palm Treo 500s for what I thought was a bargain price of £80 plus (I have since found that www.svp.co.uk are ... ...to boot). I bought the phone as it was the cheapest that ran Windows mobile, despite some mixed reviews of the handset itself and many people complaining about poor reliablity / build quality. I decided to dismiss these fears as I only had 6 months until my contract ran out, and also I figured that any UK company would honour their 12 month guarantee right? Well how wrong I was! I bought the phone last month, and by the beginning of this month it ...

Don't buy from these people!
I bought an HTC s710 top of the range mobile phone which arrived with a cracked screen. I contacted them on the day it arrived, and they said was HTCs responsibility, despite the fact that their website clearly states that they offer replacements and refunds within 21 days. I contacted HTC who said it was Expansys's responsibility.
So I've paid £270 for broken phone from this bunch of cowboys, who's customer service was appalling
DONT EVER BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!! ...

Advantages: Initially they appear to be competitively priced Disadvantages: Poor customer service, No free returns policy, Poor lead times
I recently purchased a RTX DUALphone 3088 from Expansys. If asked to recommend this company to anyone my response would be: "STAY WELL CLEAR". The product I received was defective so I had to return it. It took them two weeks to confirm its receipt only after calling them 3 or 4 times because I never received any emails from them. Customer services were giving me conflicting accounts on progress of my replacement. The first customer service rep told ... ...me there was no record of it. They promised the customer services manager to give me a call - I'm still waiting! After all this palaver it took another 2 weeks for me to receive my replacement. In all it took just over a month to resolve what should have been a straightforward exchange. In my experience, having dealt with many online firms, Expansys is by far the worst firm I've had to deal with. There were two reasons why I decided to buy from this ...

Advantages: None that I can think of Disadvantages: Terrible customer service. Double charged my credit card
Expansys have double charged me for an item ordered a month ago and still have not delivered it, even though they reported it as shipped a fortnight ago
I have written to their customer support twice and have not received a reply to either email
I have called them twice and both times the reps said they'd call me back but haven't
They vary between telling me that the item has been shipped/ not shipped in the course of the same conversation but ... ...the name of the courier used and a tracking number
I have had a refund of one of that charges made but only because I wrote to them warning them that I would be reporting a fraud to my credit card supplier if I didn't get my money back ASAP
Steer well clear of this bunch of cowboys
Absolutely appalling ...

Awful. Phone was faulty, as admitted by manufacturer - netgear. Tried to contact expansys in vain. Eventually they acknowledged my communication - but too late - I was outside of the 21 days returns policy. So now they won't give me a refund. They will not respond to my court proceedings, or any letters that went before them. AWFUL company BEWARE!!
Poor customer service, poor communication systems, VERY BAD MANNERS. ...

Advantages: Cheapest UK prices for many PDA accessories Disadvantages: Poor customer service. Fail to ship on time
These guys in Manchester have great prices for PDA accessories and the like (things like palm pilots, pocket pcs and the accessories that go with them - storage cards, satellite navigation bolt-ons etc.) - probably the cheapest in the UK for many PDA related items. They also sell mobile phones, with and without contract, although their prices on phones are not as competitive.
Site offers secure ordering. P&P is extra, even on high value items, although ... ...money back guarantee, except for returns necessitated by their mistakes and their statutory requirements.
The estimates for shipping times for out of stock items are not adhered to, e-mails to customer support are neither answered nor acknowledged, the order tracking system is not updated, and a phone call to their help desk is met with a rather unenthusiastic response. Apparently, they're so busy that they can't afford the time to update their ...

Advantages: prices are good Disadvantages: products are sent to you which are customers faulty returns, awful customer service
Ordered from this company last week, item was shown as in stock on the website and that I would get in time for xmas. It arrived 5 days later, thought that was good at first. Took off the black wrapping and found a rip in the box, opened the box and the inside packaging was damaged. The product itself was obviously a faulty customer return as the DVD part would not open or close, it was missing a foot and had loads of major marks and scratches. It ... ...was told to return the product myself, it was not until I kept on at them that they arranged a courier. Which I am still waiting for to collect the item. God knows how long I will have to wait for a collection and a refund.
Awful customer service, no one bothered to apologize for this matter, but only argue that the product was new and they sounded like they couldn't care less.
It was not new that is for sure, even the batteries were loose. ...

I bought a product the 16/12/2008,
They didnt have it in stock so they said it would take 8 days to get the product and send it.
8 days later, it was still stated "waiting for stock arrival" so i sent an email.
They did not respond to the email, so I sent them another one.
They responded to this one saying that it is indeed still waiting for stock, and if i needed any futher information, i could email them again.
So about 2 weeks later, I sent ... ...same state, and they didnt respond.
Finally the 7th of January (3 weeks later?!) I got an email from seemingly an official spokesperson from Expansys, saying that my product was coming in the next day, and that it should be shipped the same day.
We are now the 13th of January and I have yet to recieve my product, and answers to my dozens of emails i have sent.
My conclusion is that these people are not at all professionals, and they have an attitude ...

Advantages: lower then high street prices Disadvantages: unflexible delivery, fairly less-then-average level of customer service
Had only 2 shopping with Expansys experiences . Both left me unimpressed, least to say.
First, half a year ago, I ordered a mobile phone cable. When it came for a wrong phone model, I decided not to waste my time and energy with returns.
And recently, I decided to order a mobile phone with a delivery to my work address. With Expansys, it wasn't an option - delivery is possible ONLY to a residential address! I have also called Expansys customer ... ...and was met with unhelpful and, fairly not enthusiastic staff who didn't even want to listen to polite suggestions that might improve their own trading effectiveness!
In my eyes, Expansys (or a similar web trading company) could have 3 advantages over the high street shop:
- price, - convenience and speed of delivery, and - good customer service / aftersale care.
Expansys offered no convenience in delivery and payment options. On the top of that, ...

Advantages: Goods in stock and available for next day delivery Disadvantages: A bit pricey
I got a recommendation from a trusted techie friend to try this company.
The web site was very easy to navigate. The goods I wanted (PS3 60Gb) were in stock for next day delivery (out of stock at every other place I tried and trust me, I tried dozens!!!).
Not the cheapest place I tried but not by much.
Friendly and efficient staff (or at least the one I spoke to was).
Received confirmation and could track immediately where my order was with Expansys ...
