Advantages Advantages A great safe site, which allows you keep in contact with friends

Disadvantages Disadvantages You could get tagged in some embarrasing pictures. I know I have :D

For years I managed to stay away from the Facebook craze, whilst all my friends were talking about Facebook and I was looking at them, feeling pretty pleased with myself for not being so sad that I spent a lot of my time on a social networking site which pretty much was based on people leaving comments stating what they were up to. However 2 years into college, I got pulled into the obsession that the rest of the world seems to have at the moment, and I’m afraid I have yet to get out of that obsession and it just seems to get deeper and deeper each day. What is Facebook? Facebook is a social ... more

This review is going to be about Facebook the social networking site. This is an application you can join online by joining www.facebook.com and registering your details to become a member and chat with other users online using the same facility. History --------- Facebook is actually a spin off from another place named Facemash. This was an idea by Mark Zuckerberg who apparently when his girlfriend dumped him he decided to do something to take his mind off her. He was a student at Harvard University as well, and after people began to read his work he decided that he would do a new website. On ... more

Advantages Advantages Keep in touch with friends

Disadvantages Disadvantages A social experiment that can feel Orwellian at times

Facebook is a social networking website, for the five people left on earth who haven’t at the very least heard of it, which re-connects, or hopefully maintains an existing connection, between friends (more on that later). The main functions of the site are the newsfeed, in which you can read something one of/many of your friends might have posted as their “status”, or even, more and frustratingly more common, conversations which someone you know may be a part of, but which are in most cases completely irrelevant to your good self. You also are updated on timely information such as Fred likes ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent site, easy to use, some great games and some nice people on it.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cant put skins on without downloading stuff as far as I know.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE SITE It took me quite a while to get around to using Facebook. Even though I had heard a lot about it. I was always busy hopping from one social networking site to the other. The first sites I joined were the likes of Bebo, Faceparty, Tagged, Perfspot etc. Tagged recently gave me a virus. So, I have decided to stop using it. Facebook is the one I am currently most addicted to. Saying that since I discovered Ciao and Dooyoo I use it less than I ever use to. But, I still use it quite a lot and I find it is one of the best ways to waste time. In a way Facebook is like Bebo ... more

Facebook Facebook is a social networking website where you can communicate in a variety of ways with people you know irrespective of their geographical location. I do not intend to waffle on for ages about the history and development of Facebook but there are a few facts and bits of information that are interesting to know to put this review into context. Facebook is privately owned and was created in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, it was initially just available to Harvard University students but has evolved and with over 120 million members worldwide is now open to anyone over 13 years old. With ... more

FACEBOOK INC - Review - date: 19/11/08 Founder: Mark Zuckerberg - Titled: 'Mark, face it, you should get out more!' ------------------------------------------------------------- - Please note that this review is assuming you already know of Facebook, and some of the terminology used and platform. It is only 5 years old; just about primary school age, yet we all know of Facebook. I'm actually surprised that my spell checker has just highlighted this well-known name. It's a house-hold name that has captured the imagination of many; many have been addicted to the social networking scene. Many of ... more

Facebook is what people call a social networking website, it is one of quite a few social networking sites on the internet, but in my opinion it is one of the best. I am going to tell you a little about it, based on my experience and whilst I will give as much detail as I can, it would be impossible for me to touch upon everything Facebook has to offer and I feel it wouldn't be right for me to make comment about things I don't use or know much about within the site. The layout of Facebook is quite straight forward and has the usual things you'd expect from a social networking site, including ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages New applications are annoying

Having used Facebook, for about two years now, I though I would write a review of my experiences with Facebook, show new users how to use this website, any advantages and disadvantages, and finally my opinion about the social networking website. Facebook History: Facebook was first launched in 2004, created by Mark Zuckerberg a student of Harvard. The idea was simple to create a social networking website that allowed users to interact with one another, much like that of myspace and hi5 and so forth. Before September 2006, only certain users, from certain academic school were allowed to join ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tricky to get used to, can put vulnerable people at risk, potential lack of privacy

I resisted the facebook phenomenon for, what I believe, was an admirably long time - especially when you consider the repeated emails I received telling me that my friends had invited me to use facebook and "connect with the people around me", despite people saying "come onto facebook, it's much better than myspace", despite people informing me of their desire to 'poke' me (all will be explained)...but I just thought "what's the point?" As far as I was concerned, I was having enough online social networking through my lovingly designed and maintained myspace page - I'd found some old friends ... more

***Throughout this op “friend” means “facebook friend”. FACEBOOK is a social utility tool. Pardon? OK Facebook, I think you could re-define yourselves, but that’s only a wee criticism in relation to all the fun that can be had there. Here’s the crack: Go to www.facebook.com and sign up. In order to sign up, you need to supply only your email address and name. However, you’ll have oodles more fun if you feed in a few more personal facts, but this can be done later. Once registered, your next step is to see whether anyone else you know is already on facebook. To do this, you must have a web ... more
