Advantages: Non-Its offline permanently Disadvantages: You can't shop
The auction site firedup.com is no longer on the internet. I logged on the other day and it said that it was no longer on the internet.
I suppose you could say it was fired down.
Anyway I am just writing this to save people a lot of time and bother. Do not bother visiting this site. They could of at least told us eager internet shoppers out there!
I should reckon that the site was a load of crap anyway. The next best thing now is to register with ... ...were any of you firedup.com members. If you were, did they tell you that they were closing down? Let me know.
I do not think that firedup.com cut the mustard to be perfectly honest. It was only made out to be a cut above the rest. I would now recommend QXL for all internet shoppers out there
Send me a memo 'cos I would like to know what you think.

I have successfully purchased from this site 3 times, twice to buy CDs which were much cheeper than high street prices. The first time this was very successful but the second time they sold me a CD which they didn't have in stock and I had to wait over a month in order and phone several times to eventually get the CD. I have sinced used the site to buy tickets for the firedup events, in this case tickets to a London jazz club. The tickets were at ... ...for which I was the only bidder. So definately a good site to visit if you wish to get cheep tickets to london venues. The rest of the site however is much worse. A lot of the items are advertised with the bidding starting only very slightly below the normal seeling price (this can usually be found by following the link to the selling company from the lot description). As a result many of the lots are sold at greater than normal prices. The website ...

...quality newspapers you will love firedup.com – the “auction site” that is also brought to you by News International.
However, anyone who is not a fully paid-up member of DENSA will soon realise that FiredUp, like its printed stable-mates is big on headlines, but low on content.

· the wine took nearly three weeks to arrive
· it cost far more than I expected
· the “case” was only half a case
· the web site was unreliable
· most items were straight sales – not auctions at all
If you want to take my advice, do not even bother to log on to firedup.com.
The only consolation I have is that I can now drown my sorrows in some rather nice, rather ...

Advantages: Can buy some valuable stuff at the right price if you spend the time to search Disadvantages: Download time quite slow, and some goods very expensive
Firedup.com is different to the other online auctions, in that you know that you are doing business with e-retailers rather than individuals. Some of the prices do seem to be ridiculously expensive. They are selling CDs for over a tenner, whereas you can get them for £8.99 for CD-Wow.com. Are they relying on customers with no time on their hands to buy these rip offs?
I have had a very good experience of dealing with Firedup. I was able to buy a ... ...a price cheaper than in most online bookshops, and I was able to negotiate directly with Ottakers about reducing the p&p by half.
A bad experience was when I bought a parking timer key ring via boystuff.co.uk. However, the company was very apologetic and gave me the timer for free.
I noticed a 2 for a tenner offer on CDs and missed out on that offer. It is a shame that they do not offer something like this more often ...

Advantages: Cheap CD's Disadvantages: Customer service practically non-existant
I visited this website after seeing the great adverts for it, but was extremely disappointed. I examined the auctions but found that many items were no cheaper than on the high street, which surely defeats the whole object of an auction site, some of the items were actually more expensive on firedup, for example a subscription to PC Format!
I did buy some CD's from them in their "buy two CD's for a tenner" offer, and received the CD's with no problems ... ...with this offer, as the CD's are new releases and would have cost at least twice as much from a high street store, however, I was tempted back for their recent CD sale, and that was very definitely a mistake! I ordered two CD's almost a month ago which still haven't arrived. I e-mailed to complain two weeks ago and was sent a return e-mail apologising and promising I'd receive the CD's in the next few days, but they still haven't arrived, despite ...

I was attracted to this site due to the advertisement. They seem to have spent more time thinking about marketing than actual content. i am dissapointed that you need a credit card for most auctions so that counts me out of bidding. I wanted to bid for an auction and pay by switch as the seller allowed but you have to enter you're credit card details to bid which i think is really pathetic. i dont possess a credit card and i'm sure I'm not the only ... ...i went tothe page this week and it said free wap phone to the first 500 who joined or logged in. so i logged and found i had won. Or had I? Yeah i'd won a phone but also the monthly line contract that comes with it. Oh and it also bugs me the way it says "win" an auction. For goodness sake, you dont win if you pay for it,you buy it. ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Evrything has higher reserve price - annoying, end of line stuff, owned by Rupert Murdoch
Advertised shamelesly in News International papers (for this is owned by Murdoch), this is not a good site. All merchant partners who want far too much for their stuff - but show headline prices that are very good. Of course, all these have a reserve price which really winds me up!! For example, I saw a running machine advertised at 500 quid, yet bid up to 600 and still hadn't met reserve. I contacted a supplier I saw on QXL, and he sold me the same ...

Advantages: Nice layout Disadvantages: Over priced, and over hyped!
What with the ads on the tv and cinema all the time and the fact I use Auction sites a lot I thought I'd have a look at Firedup.com. And I was disappointed to say the least! I layout is nice, very well put together, that's not the problem. The main problem this site has is that the items for auction aren't in any way bargains! You get a few cheap things but in the main what is for auction is no cheaper than buying from an online shop or even in cases ...

Advantages: Nice looking, fair range of goods Disadvantages: Annoying flaws, too many commercially set reserves
I decided to go to fired-up.com purely down to the nice series of ads on the TV. The site, at first glance, lives up to the image on the screen. But there are a few annoying pioints that generally put me off visiting the site regularly. Unlike eBay, for instance, the majority of goods on auction appear to be from commercial retailers. While this ensures quality and (in theory) a safer way of bidding than with a stranger halfway across the globe, ... ...*real* bargain. No £6 DVDs to be had here. This brings up one of what i believe to be one of the site's major flaws. As you are unable to check what a lot's reserve price is, it is quite possible to put in a winning bid, then not get the item, as your bid was below the retailer's reserve. Another annoying flaw is the fact that a search will bring up the *initial* bid of a lot. So, you can see, say an item up for £10, only to click on it and find ...
