    Advantages Advantages A good way of earning a bit of extra cash, whilst helping to ensure good customer service.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages It can involve quite a lot of work - most costs not covered.

    Whenever I go out, I always appreciate good customer service. It can be too easy to take this for granted, but having previously worked in a service industry (banking) for eleven years, I know what a difference it can make to a customer, and that it costs nothing to be polite and be helpful. It also frustrates me when the customer service falls below what is acceptable - or in some cases, outright rude. This can range from not giving me, the customer, full attention (such as chatting to colleagues whilst serving), or not handling complaints well.     I am always looking for new ways of making some extra cash, and whilst reading some new reviews on Ciao, I came across a mystery shopping website called Gapbuster.com. From working in The Body Shop I had come across several mystery shopping reports which would crop up once every 2/3 months. Unsuspecting people would pose as shoppers, asking questions about the product, while assessing the service, the general condition of shop and the transaction process.     Until I got involved with reading and writing opinions I'd heard of Mystery Shoppers but didn't have a clue about how to become a Mystery Shopper or indeed what the role of a Mystery Shopper entailed.     I’ll be surprised if there are many members of this site who know nothing about the concept of mystery shopping. Ciao has abundance of mystery shoppers and I’m sure there are many of them who can discuss the topic in far more detail than me. Having read many of these reviews over the months, my interest in the schemes has grown and grown and in January of this year I set about registering my details with a number of mystery shopping agencies.     Well for my first review of 2003, I think I decided to write about a company which I recomend and have used for a while now. Yes Gapbuster. So who are they? What do they do? Are they genuine? All these answers will follow shortly. I saw a banner on a website back in August saying get paid to be a mystery shopper and I though it was a load of tosh. Like all these things you see.     Well, it's not quite James Bond, but mystery shopping is a form of undercover assignment. I can't tell you where I have worked for this organisation, but I can say that it's not all glamorous women, fast cars and champagne. More likely a fast food meal, shop assistants and having to concentrate on detail so much that it's all over before you know it!     I first discovered this mystery shopping Co about 2 months ago from an ad they placed in my local paper. Everything is done online and the registration process was very easy. If you are thinking of applying please note that they ask for 2 references but I never filled these boxes in and still got accepted! You are given a unique 'shopper code' and password and then login to the 'WebPortal' area. You can search for assigments by area or client but actual assignments are few and far between and you have to be quick!     Gapbuster is an online mystery shopping company. I have worked for gapbuster for six months now. I searched online for a bit of extra cash and found this site that could offer you money for shopping. I couldn't believe it but it's true. I work shifts at the moment so it is very easy for me to pick up some assignment when I'm not working and get free food and drink in the process.     To any shoppers thinking of working for GAPbuster - I will share my experience. For a start they make you fill in a whole list of questions to assess suitability before you can even see the available dates for a mystery shop, these can take 1/2 hour to do because you have to watch the videos and then answer up to 18 questions. Then you may find that you can't do those days because of work or other commitments anyway. I had completed one of these already, but something went wrong with the system and I needed to complete it again, I got 1 question wrong and that was it I was barred from that ... more
