Advantages: Handy little utility that saves your information and fill the forms for you Disadvantages: Invasion of privacy
History tells us that it is highly unlikely that an alligator would help you in anyway but will certainly bite you at his own convenience, but what about this little gator that does all the work for you and never asks anything in return. I am talking about the software named Gator, which is apparently very helpful tool while you are working on line. I am sure you all know about Gator but just a brief description before I go any further.
Gator is ... ...while you are online and saves all your information like user name, passwords, addresses and automatically fills the form next time so you don’t have to remember passwords any more or to type any other information again. You can have different profiles allowing all the members of the family to use the same software. It’s a small file which can be downloaded and installed in minutes. So far so good, a very useful utility, but I still won’t ...

...name, address and credit cards. Gator.com believes that this personal information is, well, personal and belongs only to the consumer. Gator is extremely safe because it stores this information in an encrypted file only on consumers' computers." Also stated is "Gator is completely secure so there's no need to worry about the information you put into Gator. Your private information is stored only on your own computer. And never shared with anyone ... ...as my personal data was certainly not safe. I had been bitten by the alligator. Whether gator directly reports data back or the program is used by others as a gateway to infiltrate your machine is unclear to me, that however is equally unimportant, the fact that this software, diectly or indirectly, is responsible for infiltration was enough to convince me it was certainly not what it appeared to be.
At this time I was not running any firewall or ...

Advantages: Totally free to download, saves time when filling in online forms and login in. Disadvantages: American program which has American offers and some of the details you are asked for are American, so aren't recognised on English forms.
Gator will rapidly become your online companion, as it automatically fills in online forms and remembers login ID’s and passwords, thus eliminating unnecessary typing and the frustration of remembering passwords for different online web sites. This will also save you valuable time as it instantly fills in forms with just one click. This software program is essential, to any one that loves sending for freebies or entering competitions online.

How it works
~~~~~~~~~~~
When you have downloaded Gator, then it remains quite discreet until there is an online form to fill in, or you need to fill in your login and password. It will then ask you if you want Gator to remember the password and login name, after that it will automatically remember your information and will log you in every time you ...
Advantages: nothing Disadvantages: See the ENTIRE text above, the worst is the spy software it neglects to tell you it is using.
I downloaded Gator after it popped up in one of those really annoying advert windows you sometimes get on sites. I was enticed by the blurb about never having to fill in forms etc... and so I gave it a go. I wish I hadn't bothered.
Firstly, I had to sit for hours entering loads of info that its very unlikely I will ever use. Then, despite the assurances Gator gave about not giving out my email and personal details, I found that my email address ... ...but I dont use this address, I only set it up so I could put it in on Gator to see how it worked before commiting my real email account to it. Isn't that a breach of UK law or something? Data protection act and all that?
Oh well. The program itself was poor at doing what it was supposed to as well. The promise was that it would 'fill in all your forms''no need to fill out a form ever again'. Well, thats not strictly true. Gator was annoying because ...
At first I thought this was a great idea, with so many password to remember these days you do need some extra help. So I had little hesitation in downloading the sofwatre from the site. It works with you as yu are working online. It’s a small tool that floats on top of your screen and stores all your username and password. For the first couple of weeks this software was excellent, it made logging in and out very easy. No loner did you have ... ...be hacked into. However, it was only when a friend wanted to use the internet that I started thinking about this software. It didn’t seem that rosy anymore. When she went to hotmail, my username and password came out. And although she’s a good friend I still would want anyone to know my passwords. So, I turned it off and felt a touch let down. But, it didn’t stop there, when I went back to the site. I felt a bit suspicious. This ...
www.gator.com Take the grind out of online form filling and password entry
This little utility is very useful, a freeware programme downloaded from the above site, Gator allows you to fill in forms within websites automatically. Gator allows you to store your home and/or work details, i.e. address, telephone number, e-mail address and credit card details on your computer. (I have just downloaded an upgrade of Gator recently and remember the accompanying ... ...your machine, in otherwords Gator doesn't have access to it.) Gator is password protected once on your machine so only you and/or people you trust can gain access to it (For example little Johnny can't use it to order £500 worth of Pokemon cards online) and appears, from my experience, to work in two different ways. 1.0 Drag and Drop. You can drag and drop information from your Gator form to the website form that you are filling in. 2.0 Automatic ...
I installed Go!Zilla Download manager, and now it automatically comes with gator.com's Gator who will remember your passwords for you. On the face of it a useful thing, and it sure as hell saves on having a sheet of paper covered in passwords, or if you are a bit like me, countless notes in your PDA full of passwords.
This side of the service is good, although, like IE, he can't distinguish between my Ciao UK password and my Ciao DE password, so ... ...again neither can autocomplete on IE5! Of course for those of you using IE5, then you already have a built-in gator, so there is no point in installing another.
However gator is evil, just like old crockywock the crocodile (apologies to Roald Dahl), as as well as digesting your passwords, he is also gobbling up your info. He stores your credit card numbers, but although these are put onto gator's own server, they can still extract a lot of demographic ...
I downloaded 'Gator' from my Spedia Bar (For full details about Spedia and why I not longer use it see my op 'Warning Spedia Bar') however that aside I was very impressed (and still am) with this free piece of sofeware. If you want to you can also put your payment details (Credit Card Number)into the form to make online shopping easier. I have not as I don't ...
I was basically forced to download Gator from a website which seemed to only let me join if I did download Gator, obviously some kind of pact between the two companies then, but, although it bothered me at the time, not now!
For those of you who are unfamiliar to what Gator is, it is a small program which will store your passwords from all the websites you regularly visit. It also stores your personal details such as your full name, your address, ... ...it enough, your credit card number.
What is good about this software is that it stores any information you type into it, on your hard drive, and so is stored locally. The advantage here is that, nobody else can see your details, and so they are safe.
The download took about ten minutes, another five to install, so quite good for a program which will save you time when you are surfing. Who isn’t tired of constantly filling in forms and entering ...
Advantages: Can be handy if you only log into very few sites on a regular basis. Disadvantages: Can get very annoying in the long run.
Gator - Your online companion, this is what it states on the website and is what it is supposed to be. After using Gator now for about the last 2 months I however disagree. When you download Gator from www.Gator.com, (pretty small download, about 1MB or less) it happily sits in your task bar until it is being used. Gator is used to remember your online passwords, fill in forms and give price comparisons. At first I thought Gator would come in very ... ...sites and don't always remember the login names and passwords, this was until it started to get the passwords wrong. If you only use Gator for a few passwords then fair enough it is a very handy program to have, but if like me you use it for hundreds it starts typing in a password from another site but makes it completley useless. Also Gator's price comparison is a waste of time, occasionally on various sites a little banner from Gator pops up offereing ...
Where did I put that password, Gator is where I put that password. gator stores all your passwords for every site you have. It remembers it the first time you enter it and keeps it. gator loads up every time that site comes back on your browser so you don't have to remember anything. Gator is also automatic, it loads up with windows and you don't need to press a thing for gator to pop up with your password. You can tell Gator which passwords you ... ...people have access to. You can have more than one person using Gator on the same machine if you wish, it sets different accounts up for you and all you have to do is drop down a menu and select the new person who you wish Gator to save the passwords of. Besides passwords Gator can also fill in annoying forms for you. You enter stuff like your address and telephone numbers etc and every time a form requires that information gator puts it there for ...
Advantages: Short download time. Disadvantages: USA edge. Messed up my IE5 set-up, halted my ability to use Web
I recently downloaded Gator as I had heard about the software and thought "yeah I could do with that". However I begin to wish I hadn't. I am quite a skilled PC user and never really have had any major problems with software, and downloading etc. The first download failed to complete, it was peak time(8pm in evening) so I gave up and tried another day. This time it came through Ok and installed fine. So I went on, registered and set-up the software ... ...the fact that it only accepts the US style format of phone number, and also another gripe was that I couldn't enter my Switch card details (which is my chosen method of payment for my cd's online!!) Then when I had restarted my machine and dialled up again, my problems had clearly begun!
All of a sudden, IE5.5 would not fetch any web pages at all, so I had to assume gator had interfered with some obscure setting somewhere! After some fiddling around ...
Advantages: remembers your password for you and sounds good Disadvantages: confidentiality?
Some of you may have heard about this tool, it’s aim is to help keep passwords and usernames all in one tool so it makes remembering passwords a lot easier. It’s like a small frog hovering at the top of your screen. It’s quick to download and really good if you have a lot of usernames and passwords. But, I have read a lot of opinions on this tool suggesting perhaps that this tool isn’t 100% good. So, I e-mailed ‘Jane’ ... ...or username will get passed through. I received an e-mail back the same day, which was impressive. She said “our company had a very strict policy and keep all details of members confidential” So basically no information will be passed on. She went on to say that “the company benefits from the members telling friends etc which gives free promotion to the company, which is the reason why the tool is free”.
This obviously makes ...
