Advantages: Have yet to see one Disadvantages: No chair to sit on
In early July I ordered 2 sofa's from a local Sainsbury Homebase store. I had just moved home and decided that rather than move my old sofa 200 miles at great expense I would treat myself to a new one. Having searched around on line for the best deal I was put off by the 90 day delivery quoted by some stores. Therefore I was delighted when by chance saw a very comfortable and reasonably priced pair of sofas in a local Homebase store with a promised ... ...time drew near I called for confirmation of the date, only to find - after several calls and transfers around different departments and/or personnel, that due to a change of catalogue which now had my chosen model under a different code, my order had not been processed and would have to be placed again with a further 30 day delivery time. This second 30 days was up this week, but instead of receiving 2 sofas, all I got was a letter headed "1st Broken ...

Quick review of homebase.co.uk
Not sure what all the fuss is about - I've always found Homebase to be a greta place to shop, both in store and (latterly) online. Products are good, and customer service is excellent (I've had to return one product as it was ordered in error).
Keep it up and I will remain a loyal customer! ...

Quick review of homebase.co.uk
Tried to buy a tent on special offer from the Homebase website using vouchers I had received from Homebase (after receiving numerous faulty goods) only to find out you cannot use vouchers on line.
Called customer service and was told to order in store. Went to the store and was told cannot order this item in store. Called customer service again and was told that basically the website and the stores are two different companies and I cannot use the vouchers and that they would not do anything or try to help me.
All vouchers have a code on them so all they need to do is add a box on line where you enter the voucher code. Very poor customer service. ...

Quick review of homebase.co.uk
On Sunday, 30 March, I visited the Homebase Yeovil Superstore to purchase 10 litres of Farrow & Ball paint. I sought to take advantage of a 15 % discount offer which had been sent to me. The staff could not locate the paint which I required and had absolutely no idea as to whether, and if so, how the paint could be ordered. After spending about 20 minutes getting nowhere I left the store in total frustration. If the company holds itself out as selling a particular product the least it can do is to know how to do so.
Staff training is critical and until this improves I do not intend to use the store again. ...

Advantages: none Disadvantages: future purchases from Homebase not likely
On 24th September,2007, I visited the birkenhead store where I purchsaed bathroom furniture consisting of 2 x W/mist base unit 65, 1 W/mist 3 drawer base unit 32.5.
Items delivered on 12th October, 2007, and all major items arrived.
It was not until fitting that legs found missing from the drawer unit.
I contacted customer services to advise and was assured that they would be delivered within the week and I would be contacted with delivery date. ... ...customer services on 6th..12th..26th November all with same response given.."Will call you back with result"..No call back on any of those dates.
On 27th November, I made direct contact with the store manager who had enquiries made and I was contacted with a result on 28th.
I eventually received the missing parts on 11th December.
A letter of complaint regarding the standard of customer service was sent but it appears that it is acceptable for ...

Advantages: It was quick and easy to use Disadvantages: they don't sell the same range as the stores
...looked on the internet. Homebase.co.uk had a much bigger range of mowers than their shop down the road, 22 in fact, but I should add that a few of them were out of stock for home delivery.
We settled on a Black and Decker model, which was originally £59.99, but reduced to £44.99. THE SITE
The site is very easy to navigate. It looks quite similar to Argos, but that's because they are owned by the same company.
There are various sections across ... ...Heating, Homewares, Household appliances, Kitchen, Lighting, Outdoor Living, Sound and Vision. The six most popular categories are displayed prominently on the first page.
There is an A-Z index and a search facility for the site, and a store locator.
The site does warn that not all product ranges in store are available on line, but they do provide a link which tells you which ranges are available. You can look for showers or tool boxes, but there's ...

Advantages: great buying guides Disadvantages: didn't have what we were looking for.
We have been looking to buy a new greenhouse recently and decided to have a look at this website as we have bought other item from there stores which we were more than happy with. Our nearest store is around 20 miles away so we liked the idea of looking at what was available and at prices before travelling through. We were a bit disappointed though as there were no actual greenhouses on sale in the web site. I have been told recently that buying ... ...though so perhaps they are still getting everything upgraded. However, what we did find was a really helpful buyers guide which explained all the different types of greenhouses we could choose from and which ones were best from lean-to's and barn-style roofs they cover them all as well as advice on where you should position it for best advantages for sun and also for watering or heating needs. It also goes on to explain about staging and shelving ...

~~ FIRST IMPRESSIONS ~~
On entering the web address into my browser, my immediate impression was that the Homebase website is a bit slower to load than most sites when you are using a dial-up internet connection.
On loading, my impression was that the home-page is very 'busy' looking, with lots of text and pictures. Quite difficult to see what you want at first, and then your eyes get used to it, and you notice that there are ... ...to different sections of the site. Other pages are clean and simple looking - a welcome relief on the eyes compared to the home page!
I was quite surprised to learn that there are no online ordering facilities and you cannot view their product range online. As Homebase is such a big company, this suggests to me that they are a bit 'behind the times', as almost all large retail companies these days have online ordering. However, it does state on ...
