Advantages Advantages has lots of features

Disadvantages Disadvantages most names you want on it are allready taken

I have several email accounts but this is my favourite. To begin with I was overwhelmed by the amount of spam I was receiving, and no matter how many spam letters I blocked I still received TONs of junk!!! Often very pornographic and offering me Viagra!! This is very worrying if you have teenagers using these accounts. However they have made great efforts to improve the site, and since then I have had no more spam!! Thank god. The steps they have introduced to halt the excessive spam is by creating an "inbox protector" which basically once you have actioned it, it prevents any mail that is ... more

Hotmail is the only email i use apart from my freeserve one. I love hotmail as it integrates easily with the msn messenger service i have. Hotmail is a free web based email service in which millions of people worldwide use. Its a quick easy way to use email and it can be checked from anywhere in the world using your password and login. Signing Up - - - - - - First, You will need to go to http://www.hotmail.com. You will be provided with a page asking you to login and above it, it says sign up now to hotmail. This is not very big and i should suggest that microsoft make this bigger. Then the ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish new interface, much faster, can write formatted emails, address book and appointment functionality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Almost all identities are taken due to the popularity of the service

I thought I’d never find myself saying this but Hotmail has evolved into an excellent service. At one point it was rubbish, slow, pointless which is why I started using Yahoo! Mail for my web based email – but it seems after just having signed up for another hotmail account after about two years the service has changed to no end! The first noticeable change is the interface. At one point, the Hotmail interface was not only ugly, but also slow and unhelpful. All that has changed in the latest reincarnation of Hotmail: the whole service has been given a major aesthetic makeover ... more

Advantages Advantages Very simple to use; free; lots of features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't fault it

One of the first things you ever do on the internet is likely to be setting up your own email account, and the majority of people choose the best known option - hotmail.com. It was certainly my first online action, right back at the turn of the millenium, and guess what? I'm still using the same hotmail account today. The biggest draw for me was that the website was free, and being the only one I'd heard of, it was my first port of call. But now that I'm more web-savvy, why have I chosen to stay, and open subsequent accounts, with hotmail? The site works in a relatively straightforward way ... more

    Advantages Advantages Free, effective

    Disadvantages Disadvantages SPAM prone

What’s the word that almost invariably pops into your head as soon as you hear the name HOTMAIL? Well, for most people, even if they’ve never actually had their own E-mail account with Bill Gates’ little spin off organisation, it’s inevitably SPAM – the popular name for unsolicited commercial E-mail – because invariably the thing that you’re bound to start collecting pretty much as soon as you’ve gone out and acquired your brand spanking new, all shiny Hotmail address is the daily Inbox packed to the gills with unlooked for offers of Viagara, porno sites and/or get rich very, very quick ... more

Advantages Advantages A reasonable chat facility which is on offer from millions of amature sites.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slow, boring, spam mad, advert crazy, unconsistant site design, different names, loadsa passwords, hard to find unique user name, runs of Microsoft Interenet Explorer, Hard to back out off...all in all a disgrace for such a well respected firm.

Microsoft have really let me down. I first joined this because a lot of people at college use MSN, and so i could chat using the messenger service. Everyone was singing it's praises so I decided to give it a go. After trying for over 20 mins to find a user name nobody else had, I was finally able to join filling out a boring, bland application form. I use AOL and have always been v. happy with the e-mail, and ease of using it. I simply log on and bumph, it tells me if I want mail, if I want to read it and how many I have all in a neat row. But Microsift has to be different. I work a lot with ... more

Advantages Advantages Cross compatibility with MS products, Spam-free.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be slow at times.

I’ve read a lot of badmouthing on Ciao about Hotmail free email accounts, and whereas a lot of the points made are valid, I feel some of the problems can be avoided. Hotmail, for those of you who don’t know, is a free, web-based email service. Although it began as an independent service, it seems to have been bought in recent times by Microsoft, which in itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing. When you sign up, you’re asked a few basic questions, nothing too searching at all. After that, you’re asked to read a lengthy “Terms & Conditions” document ... more

    Advantages Advantages MSN MESSENGER

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Millions use it

Hotmail.com is possibly the worlds best free free e-mail provider. Run by Msn which is run by Microsoft, which is owned by Bill Gates, it was a must do for a computer geek like me. To set up your hotmail account simply go to http://www.hotmail.com and register there. it will ask you all the questions that are usually asked i.e. Name, Age, Date Of Birth etc. It will also ask you for a username. The bad thing about hotmail is that is used by millions world wide. This means that millions of usernames have already been taken up. You'd be lucky to get Bradfordcity@hotmail.com and you'd need the ... more

Advantages Advantages Anominous, customisable, easy to use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slow, spam, management a bunch of crooks, not as good as other free services

Don't get me wrong, Hotmail isn't that bad. It's just not very good, especially compared to many oher free webmail services. I know it's popular, (I even use it myself for certain purposes), but please let me support my claim. First, advantages. As it comes from Microsoft, you'd expect it to be pretty reliable. This is generally the case - it works most of the time, although in the four years I've been using it, it's record for reliability hasn't been brilliant, and it's record for security has been even worse, although to be fair, I think they've ironed out these problems (there was an ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Full of Spam and other indigestibles. Security doubts. Space - a final frontier

We have just deleted the contents of your sent mail box. Have a nice day! My fault I guess for not reading through yet another tedious message from the hotmail homeland defence staff HQ that they were going to do it to all their valued customers by a date I had not noticed. Why didn't they just take out all the Spam and other indigestibles and leave me the dozen or so prized specimens I had tucked away in my sent box? Well, gone is gone in this disposable electronic world I guess it's what we live with. Maybe it was a ploy to get people to read the messages and bulletins from central HQ ... more
