When I first acquired a computer, the technology overwhelmed me. I found that Outlook Express was a good mail program for sending out my emails, and although there were several coloured backgrounds that I could use, these were rather dull and limited.
This all ended about two years ago when I received an email with an animated character in it. It amused me. Little things please little minds I know, but in this particular instance, it actually made ... ...an email such as this, and I typed the word Incredimail into google because curiosity got the better of me.
Downloading Incredimail was simple and not too time consuming, and when it arrived, it arrived with a package for me to design my own backgrounds although I didn't actually find designing them that enjoyable.

Lets face it, writing a letter can be tedious and for this reason the E mail was welcomed as a fine alternative to putting pen to paper and adding a stamp.

Fed up with dull dreary Outlook Express? Then here is just the replacement you need.

Incredimail has all the functions you are used to in Outlook, plus lots more additions too, packed with colourful stationary, animations, sounds and notifiers all of which I will tell you about further on.

I have only recently found out about a possible problem with Incredimail, it concerns any attachments you may get with you Emails. The problem arises from the fact that the program actually saves every single attachment you receive in a folder, to which you’ll find in the following place (that’s if you installed it in the Program Files directory):
C:\Program Files\IncrediMail\Data\Identities\{Your personal number}\Message ... ...of attachments off friends and families, i.e. Photos, Large files, etc, well Incredimail is actually making a back-up of these files in its own folder, so if these files are large, you might in fact be unsuspectingly filling your Hard-Drive up with useless clutter. Another thing that you have to worry about are viruses, should you be sent an Email that is infected with a viruses (usually via an attached file), well despite you clearing the virus, ...

Incredimail Xe is a free e-mail program to replace Outlook available from www.incredimail.com, although you can pay to upgrade to the premium version for $29.95 which gives slightly improved features ( for instance you can set different notifiers for different senders ). It's compatible with Windows 98 upwards.
If you're familiar with Outlook Express you won't find this program very different and once it's downloaded you can import you're messages ... ...an option to transfer settings from or to a new computer. You have all the familiar functions that come with your present mail server and newsgroups are supported.

Incredimail is a brilliant email programme. I got mine on a free cd, but you can download it for free at the Incredimail website. It`s got all the usual stuff that you find in most email programmes, such as sending and receiving mail, folders, and address book, but it`s also got the ability to add a bit more fun into your mail.
If you choose to you can still send mail on a plain white background or you can make your letters more exciting by choosing ... ...you click on new mail a letter page opens up. From here you can choose which paper you want to use. All the ones available to you are clearly listed on the left hand side. There are many to choose from, such as romance, a lot of these have big lipstick laden pouting lips printed on them, smileys, there are still ones or animated ones, comic faces with all different expressions on them, or if your into the cutsie cutsie, there are animals with pictures ...

The way I see it I will never have a real butler but I do have a handsome butler I named Jeeves that says "message for you madam" Now that I like.
I had seen a friend use incredimail some months ago and she sent me the link to get it and off I went. It just takes over your outlook mail (not to say you can't use that too) and you can move your address book and folders right along with you.
There is a display at the top with the date, day and time ... ...if you are using the free download but nothing annoying or that interferes with what you are doing. I did however purchase the premium package after testing out the free one.
Free is good though. You get quite a selection of stationery and each day you can go to the site and check for new ones. As you change your background your font will change also.
You can add animation to your mail or even send a talking e-mail. What I love are all the cute ...
