From my experience it seems Kazaa is no longer functionning properly and you may be better to look for other file sharing web sites to download your music. After reinstalling many versions of Kazaa over the last couple of months I have been unable to keep any up and running.

I have not used kazaa in a few months now due to lots of corrupted music downloads and the fact im on dial-up mean i can only download a limited number of songs per week.
This is a great peer to peer sharing program but it does have some serious drawbacks.
In most of the versions of the software there is spyware,ads and popups that are most annoying. There is now lots of dead music on there, usually you can tell if you are downloading one of these ... ...the inbult player.
I have tried several peer to peer downloading softwares such as limewire and bitcommet etc and I have now moved on and download music from napster and buying music singles and albums from shops.
Since i have started using napster I have never had a faulty track and althought it costs a small amount to buy the music it is well worth it knowing that it is going to be good quality and what you what.

Well since Napster shut its doors a while ago I've converted to being a Kazaa lite user. I find Kazaa is Very good for downloads, whether it be Movies, games or music you are after many of the users offer a wide variety of different things. The best part about Kazaa is that it is free to download and use so all you pay is your phone bill (if you are not paying monthly ). First of all, what is Kazaa?
Kazaa is a program that has the ability for people to share files with each other no matter what country they live in or how far apart they are from each other. Kazaa is a Peer-to-Peer software. Kazaa is literally a huge database of files from every user, such as music, pictures and software.
When you search for a file in Kazaa you are checking the files of everybody online to see if they have that file or something ... ...is determined by the bandwith of the other users. A standard dial-up modem which has a dencent bandwidth can download at around 4kb/s. Even if you have broadband, and download from someone who has a dial-up connection, you can only downlaod as quick as they upload. So the speed may still be 4kb/s. The best way to speed up Kazaa your download is to download file used by many users which have a high bandwidth.

There are a lot of opinions already here about Kazaa.com, so rather than repeat a lot of what has already been written, I thought I'd concentrate on a slightly different aspect.
One of the major problems with Kazaa is the amount of "hidden" spyware in the program. Basically, you may be downloading music ostensibly "free", but the hidden cost to you is that various organisations are monitoring your internet use, not just of Kazaa, but of every web ... ...mentioning a specific website, a dutch site (suffix .nl) offers a free download of "Kazaa-lite". This program offers all the functionality of Kazaa, but with NO spyware included.
You can still access Kazaa, as well as Morpheus and Grockster. This gives you access to literally millions of tracks, which is where the problems can come!! It is very easy to become addicted to searching for yet another song you haven't heard for 20 or 30 years, and the ...

Kazza is a great tool although it is quite a big download file about 240mb I believe.
Yet it doesnt take to long, you are able to download pictures in many formats such as jpg,gif etc and music also movies.
You can get very big files here so gigabyte size but you need to be patient they take a while, but it is worth it.
The downloads to time out and you may pause them if you wish.
If you search there could be a bit of porn found in your search, ... ...you have many options to narrow your search.
While downloading you have oodles of info from who your downloading from the time left for the download in real time and what the file is.
A bonus is it remembers your files if your computer crashes or u switch off.
In your tool bar you have many options from dating links to chats to points aculiaters and games.
For a search tool for movies music and pics this is a must as said before by fellow ciaoers ...

I had been aware of Kazaa (and Napster ) for quite a while, mainly through friends at work, who had broadband internet access, and everyone who had it seemed in favour. I made a mental note to look into getting a download service when I finally got broadband.
Well, the big day arrived, I got broadband, and after the 'wow' factor had worn off a little, I remembered that I was going to do something to make use of the big bandwidth, ah, Kazaa !
I ... ...as I paid the £11 ($19) to sign up to the service, and downloaded the software. Installation was quick and easy, and using the Kazaa service is very easy too. When you have the program running, you can use a search function to find what you want, and you can search 'everything' or narrow it down to music, images, video, software etc, so you don't get millions of unwanted results.
Once you have found what you want, you right click, select 'download' ...

...you need to go to Kazaa.com and download their desktop, which is a very simple procedure. You have a choice of different kinds, and I chose the KazaaLite because you do not get the same amount of adverts popping up. It is much more stable and I have had a lot less problems with it than the original Kazaa Desktop.
When you have downloaded the desktop, you have a screen that shows you the options that you have. There is a search facility and when ... ...an artiste that you want to find, or the name of a piece of software you are looking for, even photographs. Say for example you want a good photograph of a forest, type in the word forest and then tick the box for photographs and you will see what is online. When you find what you want right click it and press download and it starts to look for the file you want.
In the section market traffic, you can keep track of the things that you are downloading ...

Kazza is a package you can download free from the internet and is very easy to use and you can basically download anything you want. Here is an overview of kazza:
Firstly you can download audio files. This can be new songs, old hits, clips off the radio...practically anything even songs and albums that havent been released yet.
You can download documents and software. This basically means files with a bulk of writing or programs (updates fror kazza ... ...and videos. Unfortunatly or fortunately (depending on your view point) there is a lot of porn out there and innocent searches such as 'About a boy' by Badly Drawn Boy bring up results that i didn't want. I solved this problem by enabling the parental control system. This was a really good improvement to previous kazzas. Of course if you like porn...you can download it! When you have downloaded your music (or whatever)you are free to burn on to cds ...

I was a long time user of Audiogalaxy Satellite and yearned for an adequate replacement. I am pleased to say that I have found just that in Kazaa but this also comes at a price. Not monetary of course but at the cost of my bandwidth. You see, the Kazaa exe. file not only installs itself to your HDD but a whole array of spyware. In short, spyware tracks your internet usage (try putting a search on an engine for a more in depth explanation) which OK, ... ...a lot of files for free but I find that Kazaa goes way over the top with it`s bundled spyware. OK if you`re cruising on Cable/DSL, but try downloading your top tunez in a hurry on 56k and you`ll be thinking of mollasses fairly quickly.
I`m pleased to say that I`ll be on ADSL from next month so the bandwidth problem won`t be an issue, but other than that, Kazaa is by far the best P2P app. on the market these days. ...

I first used Napster (and i kid you not!) the day before it got taken offline and into the law courts. Since then i have used a number of other P2P software packages including Audiogalaxy (another sadly missed utility), Morpheus,Soulseek & Bearshare. One of the best surviviors of this type of technology is Kazaa. It's ease of use is second to none as it's intuitive interface has you doing all the things you hoped and more in a relatively short period ... ...for a variety of different file types such as audio, video, software, documents etc. With over 5 million users online and sharing 500,000GB of files there isnt much that you cant find to suit you. It is also possible to simultaneously download the same file from multiple users-- each user being allocated a unit of the file to download, thus dramatically reducing download speed.

I first downloaded this in September after having used Audiogalaxy and Napster for downloading mp3s. But since the latter sites have started subscription I was forced to look somewhere else to get my music. I downloaded this from www.downloads.com and have been using it ever since. I have broadband installed and this enables me to download an mp3 in about 2 or 3 mins which is brilliant. It is a great p2p application as software , videos , pc games ... ...have with it is that it does not have specified users , ie you could type in any user name and it would let you connect.This can be annoying if you are trying to find a particular user and they have changed their name. Also sometimes it is quite slow and crashes but this doesn't happen very often. All in all, it is a great program to get all your music ...

Well, I have to say, KaZaA is actually BETTER than Napster was. And I'm not sure there has been any major threats to shut it down either - it'd be a big job. There have been over 100 million downloads over KaZaA already, and it's growing rapidly. KaZaA is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing network. Anyone who has downloaded KaZaA can search KaZaA for a certain song, and the program will search through the hard drives of other KaZaA users, and show ... ...file you wish. Typically, a search for any one song will throw back around 50-100 results. Usually, they are all what you want, but don't be fooled! Look carefully! Some may only be 30-second clips of a song, may be poor quality (look for higher bitrate), may download slower than others, and may not even be what they appear to be!
