    Disadvantages Disadvantages Flawed and 'floored' by poor customer service and money wasted on AdvertIsing and claims that were not backed up.

    Ever since the bubble began to burst for the many internet companies with good ideas, but little capital - LETSBUYIT.COM struggled. What seemed to be a great germ of an idea - a massive facility to 'co-buy' products at great prices - has foundered through lack of direction, lack of captital and poor customer service. Remember those crazy TV Ads with all the ants busily loading all kinds of products on their tiny backs, ready to deliver them to your door?     Like many people I was introduced to this site a year ago when those adverts with the little ants were on TV. I thought the collective buy ethos was a neat idea so I checked out the web site, expecting there to be a big catch. But there wasn't. The site is well designed and well explained. It's simple to start an account and your account manager pages are easy to access, and give you all the info you need. The co-buys also look very attractive. I would say on average the saving is approximately 25% on normal retail price. Of course the catch is that the co-buy needs enough people to join it ... more

    When LetsBuyIt.com first started advertising on tv I was on their site like a rocket. For those who don't know what LetsBuyIt.com is all about, it's a website that offers money off all types of goods - the amount being dependent on the number of people who choose to buy the goods. It was an instant hit, for me, and millions of others. The only problem was they went bust at the end of last year. They are back in business now, but there were 3 months between the new year and march when they were completely inactive.     I have only had one experience with Letsbuyit.com and I can clearly and without doubt say it will be the last experience I ever have with them. Two weeks ago, I joined a co-buy for a 28inch widescreen Samsung tv at an amazing £279.(after trawling the internet for the model elsewhere I could only find the next cheapest to be £344 so I thought this was a price to grab and quick!!) It was already at the best price so I was confidently happily waiting for my TV to arrive when the co-buy ended.     Well, I was sucked into the (I admit very good) idea of purchasing something. For a bargain. No hassle. To my door. After much searching around to see what they had, I plumped on two items. One I received quicker than promised. I was so impressed. Particularly with all the negative publicity surrounding the 'collapse', 'bankruptcy', whatever. Sadly, it has all gone downhill since and I am terribly unhapy and unimpressed with the horrific level of service I have received.     It was a good idea. An e-tailer that allowed its users to link their orders together so they could benefit from bulk purchase offers. Just over a dozen people buying the same Hi-Fi could see a reduction in price of around %25. The site was launched in April of last year in Sweden. The shares - which have now been suspended - are held on the Frankfurt stock exchange. The company is believed to have money left but has said it will require £50m to continue trading.     UPDATE: Since fighting with them for a refund I *finally* received a refund cheque this morning - 27/9/01 - not bad considing the order was made months ago!! Avoid them. Considering the company went bust and has managed to bring itself back in the dot.com world you’d think they would be interested – even mildly at least – in keeping hold of any customers who are prepared to give them another go.     Court battles and bankruptcy have plagued Letsbuyit.com in recent times however it promised so much when it was relaunched earlier in the year . However it seemed to be a different story 1 year ago when there were so many products to choose from. Also the deals were out of this world. I bought a Minolta APS camera for £100 half the price of high street prices. A Wind up radio 60% less than high street prices and there were more from where that came from.     Letsnotdeliverit.com is my summing of this site, it all seems brilliant on face of it but underneath there is a different story. The website seems so convincing and the television advertisement reiterate this, but when they come to delivering on the day they should they are absolutely shocking.!!!! The web page like I said is so convincing, it tells you what the site is about, it says that buying in bulk is cheaper, and because of co-buy, meaning more than one person buying, the price of the item is reduced.     I thought the point of this website was buying power, cheaper prices if we all shop there. Well it isn't. It simply doesn't work. Everything I have ever checked out on the site I have been able to buy cheaper (in some cases a lot cheaper) elsewhere. Often they don't have what your looking for and never seem to respond to e-mails or listen to their potential customers. I fail to see how they are still in business. My advice is don't bother with this site, look elsewhere, you'll probably pick it up cheaper in your local high street or shopping mall. I have even heard reports of people not ... more
