    Disadvantages Disadvantages They can't send correct items out, then accuse you of stealing

    Ordered 15 DVD ROM drives, 1st they sent me someone else's order (a keyboard) then they sent me 15 HDD caddies and agreed to refund. Sent items back via post office with proof of postage as asked, 1 parcel (the keyboard) went missing now they refuse to pay me my £400 order value, as although the post office ticket shows 2 items, they say that how do they know I didn't split the DVDs over 2 boxes and return just that order. They can't say that is what happened, just that the manager says it could have! They refuse to let me speak to this manager (he sits making decisions in the background), and ... more

    Last Monday was a frustrating morning. I had to go into the town centre and because I was there I decided to call on a hobby shop to see if they had some tools that I wanted. I have all the usual range of large power tools, drill etc. But I had a job to do that wanted small tools. I had to work in a very narrow space where a large power drill would not fit. Not even one of these cordless types. Among my model tools I have what is called a pin vice. It is a small hand drill that can accept drill bits of .5mm. Well I didn't need one that small.     Ordered a DVR CCTV Recorder bundle last year from their Newcastle upon tyne branch, to be honest, the attitude of the staff in the store was poor to begin with (should have seen that as a bad omen!), tried to order the above product and was told that we couldn't as it was discontinued, then as we were walking away the manager caught us up and said that there were some at the headoffice in stock and he could reserve one and get it sent to our home. We agreed to do this and paid for the system (plus postage I might add!) and waited (the delivery time was quoted as 2-3 working days, so waited ... more

    Maplin.co.uk has been very aggressive with its marketing and promotional offers and I regrettably made the mistake of being suckered into thinking that they provided quality electrical products at low prices. I purchased 3 items, rechargeable radio, remote controlled plane and a neon mp4 player all as gifts spending the best part of £200.The purchasing process is quick and efficient, as can be said of the delivery. However, within days of passing on the gifts I had recieved disturbing feedback from all three recipients. The rechargeable radio did not recharge, the mp4 player did not work and ... more

    I've purchased lots of different items from Maplin. From electrical components to Christmas gifts and gadgets. All the items I've received from Maplin, were received in perfect condition and not a fault with anything. And I've ordered items from very small to pretty big. A few times my deliveries have been delivered next day, even though they say within 3 working days. But those deliveries have been with Royal Mail. The Courier deliveries take there time, I've monitored my deliveries (with online parcel tracking) and most of the time I see them stuck in a warehouse over night, just sitting ... more

    I placed an order for the Humax Foxsat PVR. They took my money from me immediately and I was told a delivery on the 10th or 11th Dec 08. The information was provided on the basis that I was within the first 40 orders of which they had 40 units in stock, guaranteed delivery by DHL they said! On the 12th Dec they deny all knowledge of my delivery and now I am unliklely to get a PVR until after Xmas. It appears I am not the only customer who has received poor on line service from Maplin.     Maplin is good provider of electronic items at competitive prices, their shops are great, however I fear they have used cheap and inadequate systems to run their online shop. Firstly their payment system is very unstable on one order it crashed on me about 5-6 time, claiming some type of server error. In the end I gave up that day and tried a couple of days later. There payment system crashed a 4-5 times more before if finally went through. The next day I checked my emails to find my items have now been dispatched, except not to the dispatch address, but to the billing address. After entering ... more

    would like to complain to Maplin Store at the Oxford road Manchester. The Assistance Manager call Craig been absolutely rude to me. The Story was I bought the wrong item on the 2 Feb 2011. I bring it back to store on the 3 Feb 2011 and spoke with the person who served me yesterday. Regarding to wrong item. The Assistance Manager Craig he said the item it’s non refundable.     Appalling, I bought a battery charge and 9 batteries. My wife had also bought rechargeable batteries, so i did not need the batteries. £30 worth. i returned to the store half and hour later to be told that, although their receipt states 28 days refund if unopened etc, their terms and conditions in the catalogue state that it is at the managers discretion. Sales were obviously down the day i went in, the manager refused to issue a refund stating i could have opended the batteries and then put them back in.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Very poor returns policy for faulty goods, customer service is dreadful.

    Very poor customer service on faulty items. Even if the product is faulty when you get home they will not replace or refund you. Maplin policy is to send broken items to head office for inspection, this takes a long time, at least two weeks. Even then getting a refund is like getting blood from a stone. I brought an item from Maplin that cost £180, it was faulty and didn't look new (had a dirty label stuck on it with some sort of code in handwriting). Took it back expecting to get a replacement but was told they can't do that. I would have to have it sent back and wait two weeks for them to ... more
