Advantages: none Disadvantages: you don't get the tickets you pay for
I bought tickets from the megabus website. Or so I thought.
Their payment company worldpay took my money and sent me a confirmation. However megabus did not confirm my reservation and did not send me the reservation no. by text (which I paid extra for)
I am travelling in a few days and now there are no tickets left on any other bus services. I usually use Nat Express but they are sold out now.
In 3 days they have ignored 4 emails from me ...

megabus.com is a pretty good travel service online provider. Seats start from £1. What’s more, a one-off booking fee of 50p is charged for all reservations. You do not need a ticket when travelling. You simply show booking reference to driver. Life is easy, huh.
Megabus run in major big cities, like London, Oxford, Glasgow, Birmingham, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Edinburgh, Bristol, Sheffield, etc. You will see more information from the company’s web ...

We booked a trip to London from Cardiff a few weekends ago-it was last minute & we were looking to save money. I remebered the adverts "Cardiff to London from £1", so logged on-tickets the day before were phenomially cheap at £20 each way return so £40 for 2. The bus leaves Cardiff castle,we got into Cardiff and had some breakfast then headed over to the castle. It turned up at 7.45 bang on time we got the front seats on the right of the bus, nice and roomy,we were due in at 11.15 but got in at 10.40 which was class. Bus home 2.00 and arrived home at 4.45 an hour before we were expected-quality!!

...good strong motorway thumb.
However, Megabus.com can seemingly get you a seat on a bus going that way for exactly £2!!
I believe they can offer such cheap prices because of the whole 'cut-out-the-middleman' scenario...but £2 for a 185 mile journey on a comfortable bus?
They offer return fares...dated returns and open returns.
Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and England are covered.
All you do is visit the site www.megabus.com...

never again , take care as cheap means poor service and i felt the coaches were unsafe the doors didnt work the demister didnt work a man had to keep wipeing the window for the driver , i used it to go to birmingham it was 2 hours late due to breakdown , and waiting for another coach at winchester which you are not told about when you book , and on the way back another breakdown at oxford and no promise of anything as it was a saturday just another long wait , they are not safe , and even the driver said they wait till they stop befor they mend or maintain them ,rubbish , and stay clear .

Advantages: cheap cheap user friendly Disadvantages: slow and cramped
Well what bad can you really say about a company that offers trips across country for a mere pound?
The website is easy to use, you select the day you want to travel and then the time. Easy. The earlier you book, the cheaper the fare.
I took the Megabus from London to Leeds, and severely lacking money this amazingly cheap deal was to good to turn down. The journey itself took approximately 2 hours more than expected, and slightly less on the return ...

Advantages: Once you use them you'll never use them again Disadvantages: No frills, no toilet, no legroom, no luggage space, no point.
It was a hot sunny day not too long ago waiting for the London to Manchester connection at the station. There were the normal mega bus coaches around us plus one clapped out old local stage coach bus!! You know the ones, no room for your legs and a seat with a metal bar at the top that digs in under your shoulder blades. So myself and my travel companion joked about the poor travellers who had to get on it until we realised it was going to Glasgow ...

reasonable service , with a good quality of vehicle , well priced compared to train travel , however there are far fewer services on the inverness to edinburgh / glasgow route than there were when it was operated by Rapsons Coaches under the original Scottish Citylink contract

Advantages: None that I can think of Disadvantages: Buses run extremely late
Baltimore to NYC. Bus arrived on time, or so we thought, turns out the bus that arrived at 1755 was the bus that was delayed from two hours earlier and the driver would not let us on even though he arrived at our scheduled time. We were told that our 1755 bus would be along shortly. I called customer service and they told me it would be ten minutes, bus did not show up until over an hour later, or so we thought, turns out this was the bus to DC not ...

Advantages: can be cheap (but not always) Disadvantages: UNRELIABLE service, poorly trained drivers and inconvenient stops
I'm not able to comment on megabus elsewhere in the UK but my experience in Scotland has taught me to avoid megabus/stagecoach wherever possible. The megabus may sometimes appear very cheap but that's not the same thing as good value. I'd much rather pay a bit more than continue to suffer the unreliable service and sheer contempt for passengers that has been evident since Stagecoach aquired an effective monopoly of scottish intercity services in september ...

I've been forced as a student to use this service as my only means of going home, and it's awful.
Megabus seem to believe that just for being a few pounds cheaper they don't have to provide decent buses, run on time, or hire proper staff. I've had a driver asking passengers where bus stations are after we're under way, people with scabies, break downs, late connections, no heating or unstopable heating, them all.
I am currently in the process of ...

Advantages: cheap Disadvantages: old smelly uncomfortable buses arrive late
I recently took the Megabus travelling from Aberdeen to Glasgow. The double decker bus was old (H registration), uncomfortable and with poor ventilation. We were told that on the lower deck we were sitting on top of the engine vents. The bus shook all the way and slowed down noticeably on any uphill slope. The luggage facilties were inadequate and this also slowed down the journey (as passengers struggled to retrieve bags from the front of the bus). ...

Advantages: seems cheap enough Disadvantages: didnt go where i wanted to and can only book online
I am someone who finds sitting on 4 different trains to get home over 6 hours a pain in the arse and thought I'd look for a bus home, whereby you sit on your arse all the way and dont have to run for the next one cos the last one was delayed. I was advised to have a look at this site as my friends had used and said it was quick and easy to use, and cheap as chips. So I thought why not? Can't be any worse than any other public transport can it?

I currently live in London but comute to back to my home city of Birmingham most weekends to see family. Usally i would go by coach but after hearing about Megabus I thought why not try it.
I was under the impression that you could not bring any suitcases or large amounts of luggage with you on your journey. This was obvioulsy not true as when I arrived at the station by Victoria in London there was lots of people with suitcases and large amounts ...
