    Disadvantages Disadvantages Severe Delays.

I have used the megatrain service before and when I needed to get to Bournemouth on the cheap for a weekend I decided to have a look again. Unfortunately there were no train services available so I plumped for a bus down to London Victoria from Sheffield Meadowhall interchange and had to connect to a train from there! I'm a bit paranoid about being late/delayed so booked my megabus to arrive in London about 90 minutes before my connection was due to depart! Good idea in theory but when the bus didn't arrive in Sheffield until 45 minutes after it was supposed to depart I got a little jittery! I ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap intercity travelling, available a month in advance and last minute

Disadvantages Disadvantages None that I can think of

I was suprised to see the overall low rating that other reviewers have given the Megabus, and was therefore compelled to write a review! When I was a student back in 2003-2006, living in Cardiff, I went home very rarely, for 2 reasons; 1. I loved it in Cardiff and 2. The cost of travelling home to Southend. It is typical that the train companies seem to hike up the ticket prices for long journeys just in time for university holidays. Thanks- as if students aren't poor enough! Then, towards the end of my course, one of my fellow students said 'have you tried the megabus?' Tried it? I'd never ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Internet only and lack of comfort

Megabus.com is fantastic! You book your seats online from as little as £1 with a 50p fee per booking. There's no ticket so you do need to remember to print of your confirmation e-mail and bring it with you. I've travelled from Swindon to London and back on numerous occasions and you cannot go wrong for the price. The earlier you book, the cheaper it is. What would cost me over £45 on the train costs me £2.50 with megabus. (The most I've paid is £12.50 return when I left it until the day before to book) It does take a little longer than the train but the saving outweighs the extra travelling ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent value for money, great comfort on buses operated, good staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages Delays, bus stop in Birmingham is in the middle of nowhere

Megabus is the company who are ever increasing with their services thanks to the offer of exceptionally cheap travel to a variety of uk destinations. So what is all the fuss about? I have used Megabus on a couple of occassions now with one trip to Aberdeen from Glasgow and one from Glasgow to Birmingham (Aberdeen trip with a return journey also). I found the prices being paid for both trips to be exceptional and when compared to other bus companies I did wonder what I was letting myself in for but decided I would never know unless I gave them a shot. The buses both left from Glasgow Buchanan ... more

Advantages Advantages Very very cheap, fairly fast, good customer service

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not quite as quick as the coach or train

I recently had to make a journey from Portsmouth to London, and was faced with various ways of doing this - i could drive, but to be honest couldn't face any problems getting lost or stuck in traffic, and it costs a fair amount. I looked into getting the train, very regular services and also new trains - but this comes at a price. The coach was the next step down, cheaper but not as fast. The megabus was my last consideration, but i gave it a go. The booking system is excellent, the website is laid out so simply its fantastic, very easy to use and i booked my tickets with no problems. They ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

    Advantages Advantages none

Disadvantages Disadvantages you don't get the tickets you pay for

I bought tickets from the megabus website. Or so I thought. Their payment company worldpay took my money and sent me a confirmation. However megabus did not confirm my reservation and did not send me the reservation no. by text (which I paid extra for) I am travelling in a few days and now there are no tickets left on any other bus services. I usually use Nat Express but they are sold out now. In 3 days they have ignored 4 emails from me and i was stuck on their 10p a min. scamline for 15 mins before eventually getting through, when I was told that their website "must have crashed" and that ... more

megabus.com is a pretty good travel service online provider. Seats start from £1. What’s more, a one-off booking fee of 50p is charged for all reservations. You do not need a ticket when travelling. You simply show booking reference to driver. Life is easy, huh. Megabus run in major big cities, like London, Oxford, Glasgow, Birmingham, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Edinburgh, Bristol, Sheffield, etc. You will see more information from the company’s web site. The reason I like Megabus is that they accept Solo and Switch cards. When I first came to the UK as an international student, I could not get ... more

We booked a trip to London from Cardiff a few weekends ago-it was last minute & we were looking to save money. I remebered the adverts "Cardiff to London from £1", so logged on-tickets the day before were phenomially cheap at £20 each way return so £40 for 2. The bus leaves Cardiff castle,we got into Cardiff and had some breakfast then headed over to the castle. It turned up at 7.45 bang on time we got the front seats on the right of the bus, nice and roomy,we were due in at 11.15 but got in at 10.40 which was class. ... more

No, I am not going to write about the world's biggest super-hero bus...this is one heck of a site if it is true to its promise of cheap bus fares. www.megabus.com is an internet booking site which offer cheap bus travel in Scotland and England for 'on-line' buyers. If I wanted to travel to Glasgow from Inverness on £2 I always thought I would need a strong pair of walking boots, a map and a good strong motorway thumb. However, Megabus.com can seemingly get you a seat on a bus going that way for exactly £2!! I believe they can offer such cheap prices because of the whole 'cut-out-the-middleman' ... more
