The best thing since sliced bread!

Advantages: Brilliant way of communicating
Disadvantages: Very addictive

Msn is an instant message service, similar to the 'chat' feature on Facebook however msn is where they got the idea for it from. You can have conversations with multiple people at once, you just need to click on which contact you want to talk to & your conversation with that particular person will come up on the screen. Of course you know when someone has replied to your last message as the certain conversation box will flash orange & make a sound. ...
...live without msn. I don't know anyone who doesn't have it. I've been using it for years now & it has become almost like a way of life. The great thing about it is that it's free, better than using the phone. You can have conversations using webcams which eliminates the need for a phone altogether. It's great to be able to see who you're talking to, it's like video calling on mobiles but a lot better quality & the fact that msn is free to use! I've ...

How to find LOVE on the Internet

Advantages: Simple to use. Live communication with friends and loved ones. Free Service
Disadvantages: sometimes has logon problems and service downtime

Want to hear a true life Love Story? You do? Then read on, for it was because of MSN Instant Messenger that this tale of Internet love and romance became more than just a dream. I am sure by now that most of those who read my work know that I am living out in the USA with fellow CIAOer Pelenya. Many though, will be wondering how this all came about. Well, how we first met each other is our closely guarded secret, sufficed to say though that it was ...
...became our lifeline. It all began one day in February this year, when two lonely people, hurt by previous relationships, first made contact. It was a new and exhilarating experience to be contacting someone over 4000 miles away. After the initial contact between us, Ellen suggested we chat some time on MSN. At that point I had never used MSN before but eagerly downloaded and installed it. Then my life took off. Here I was in live contact with this ...

Simply the best....

Advantages: Easy to download and install, easy to use, fast, cheaper than text messages!
Disadvantages: Occasionally the service will be 'busy'.

In my opinion, MSN IM is by far the best Instant Messenger around...it beats Yahoo, AOL, ICQ easily. -------- DOWNLOAD -------- The downloading process is fast and simple. You just follow the on screen instructions. Best of all its completely free! NB: you have to have a hotmail or an MSN email account to enable you to use MSN IM. If you’ve not already got one go to: www.hotmail.com or www.msn.com there you can sign up for an email account ...
...The signing up is free, you’ve not even got to figure out your POP3 things in Outlook express seen as hotmail is a web based email server. -------------------- ADVANTAGES OF MSN IM -------------------- ~ Email notification ~ When you are logged on to MSN IM you are automatically notified when you receive new mail. This can be in the form of a few ways. Either, if you're settings are in default, a little box will appear in the bottom right ...

HELP, I Need Somebody

Advantages: Simple to use, does the job that it is required to do..
Disadvantages: none really.

"...but not just anybody..." Well you have to hand it to Microsoft, they may have jumped on the instant messaging bandwagon (mostly due to the success of ICQ), but they have managed to come up with a relatively simple yet very effective programme. I know a lot of people don't like these sort of programmes comparing them to chat-rooms and ICQ, but MSN Instant Messenger is JUST a chat programme for people who know who they want on their contact list. ...
...people that they don't know, so this isn't a chat-room programme, but simply a way of keeping friends intouch with each other. I used ICQ for a couple of years but became glowingly fed up with its over use of gimmicky features which inevitable cluttered up its friendly interface and usability. INSTALLATION: If you Messenger didn't come preloaded on your machine, you can go to msn.co.uk and there will be a link near the bottom of the screen which ...

Would Be Good If I Had Any Interesting Friends

Advantages: Easy to signup; easy to use; keep in touch for free; some nice features
Disadvantages: Some features exculsive to US & Canada; fundamental problems with instant messaging

If you’re reading this then you are on the internet- why? The internet was once the hideaway of geeks across the land, but now we all use in for this, that and tother (namely a little known site called ciao.com). So what on earth do we use it for? Shopping yes, researching yes, but the main reason for internet usage is communication, through emails, discussion forums, chat rooms and of course instant messaging programmes. An instant messaging ...
...a mini chat room with yourself and a friend, or friends. You type in a message and it pops up on their screen, they type a reply and it pops up on your screen. Quick, simple and “cool”. By far and away the most popular such programme is MSN Messenger and I must confess I waste many hours MSNing (so I ought to be in a good position to write an op on it)! Upon signing in to MSN Messenger (hereafter referred to as MSN) you will be greeted ...

Its good to talk

Advantages: So many options to use
Disadvantages: not enough people using it

I remember when i was at school and the internet was for the Geeky people who sat at the front of the class, always did their homework etc.. Then i went to Uni and discovered that i needed the net a lot more than i ever did before as it was the only way i could keep in touch with my friends who were at other universities - via email and as they all had hotmail accounts i got one and then msn messenger came about and i got that and now to this day ...

It's Good To Type

Advantages: You're always in contact with your friends.
Disadvantages: Can't think of any- the service does what you would expect of them.

I first discovered MSN Instant Messenger when I subscribed to Hotmail(Hotmail is run by MSN). I got it free with my Internet service provider but I didn't know what it was. To me, it was just an annoying little icon in the corner of my screen. Once I was subscribed to Hotmail I started to discover what MSN Messenger was and I also discovered that half my friends were using it already. Gradually I got the hang of it and now I can keep in close contact ...

You can have loads of people in on a conversation at one time so you can keep up with all the gossip. The Instant messenger is extremely easy to use. You can just go ...

MSN the best way to chat

Advantages: simple to install, configure, IMs, Emails, pager & phone call options, easy to navigate
Disadvantages: A bit slow to log on during peak hours, not a very exciting homepage

Well after earning my stripes using AIM and ICQ2K, I felt it was time to go a step further and take on board Microsoft's much raved-about MSN. I downloaded V3.5 with the minimum of fuss and although you don't necessarily need to be a member to use this I already had hotmail account & password setup which works very well with MSN. Once installed it isn't exactly the most exciting thing to look at compared to ICQ2K for example. However they often ...
...On the front screen you have a number of drop-down menus: File, View, Tools, Help. Along with four icons: Add, Send, Call & Page. Using the ADD function allows you to add contacts you're interested. To do this you have to know their email address or by a contact name search. Usually if the email address is recognised MSN logs that name and adds it to your list of names. And from that point you can IMs or emails to this person straight away. You ...

Simple and effective Web Service

Advantages: Ease of use
Disadvantages: Only chat to 5 people at a time

MSN messenger is a relatively simple chat resource where you can communicate easily to friends or people you have the e-mail addresses to. I find MSN very easy to use compared to some of the other chat resources such as Yahoo and ICQ although these services may offer many more features. MSN is also very easy to install and is ideal for somebody who is not especially skilled with computers. The basic interface for MSN messenger involves a long vertical ...

The name that is displayed is there username, whatever that may be and if you do not know there name, you can easily find out by right clicking on the name where it gives you an opportunity to send them an instant message, block them and other things. It also displays there email address automatically and this makes it safe to use if you are not sure who you are talking to. If somebody does become annoying on MSN messenger, then you ...

Instantaneous talking with MSN

Advantages: Great to stay in touch!
Disadvantages: Address in hotmail list

I was introduced to MSN about a year ago when I started university and it is absolutely great for keeping in touch with friends. Basically, it is what it says it is - an instant messenger. The idea behind it is simple. You can sign up to MSN (and hotmail's email service) at www.hotmail.com. Once you have got an email address and password, off you go. MSN can be accessed when you log into hotmail. Alternatively, MSN Messenger service can be downloaded ...
...to the internet on your home computer, MSN will start up. I began using MSN primarily so that I could keep in contact with my friends as we are always so busy. Whenever one of them is signed in to MSN, and I am too, MSN notifies me. By clicking on their name a dialogue box opens and then you just start chatting! It is relatively simple, but is highly effective. You can also see when they are typing a reply at the bottom of the dialogue box. If, ...

The best in Instant Messengers

Advantages: Free, easy to use, low system resources used, good functionality, reliable.
Disadvantages: You need to install it on your computer

MSN Messenger (Renamed Windows Messenger for Windows XP) MSN Messenger (‘MSN’) is by no means the oldest instant messenger service available but is certainly the most popular and in my view the best I have used. Instant Messaging bridges the gap between Phone and email with instant text chat on the net. The advantage of this is that you can see who else is online and talk privately over the net, adding more people to the conversation as you wish ...
...The obvious advantage being that the service is international and as long as you have some sort of un-metered access as is fast becoming the norm there are no call charges either. What can I use it for? Basically talk (type) to anyone that has a MSN Passport (in other words a Hotmail account). You can add anyone to your contacts with an email address ‘something@hotmail.com’ or ‘something@msn.com’. As well as just typing it also allows you to send ...

Pretty Much GREAT

Advantages: Lots of features
Disadvantages: A little more detail in places wouldnt go a miss

MSN is a Microsoft website which offers a massive range of features, which I detail below. MSN for Email and Instant Messaging ----------------------------------- Although Hotmail could be said to be another site all of its own, MSN offers massive integration with both your Hotmail account and MSN Messenger if you use it. On the home page there is a small section called the Communication Centre which lets you know how many new e-mail you have in ...

It offers a whole host of features, including separate folders for bulk mail, a spell checking option as well as all the usual email options. If you want a web based e-mail service you could do far worse than using Hotmail. But I've said it before, and I'll say ...
