3 Stars Does Mothercare? Review with images 29/03/2011

Advantages Advantages An excellent easy to navigate skillful site that has everything a customer needs to know.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Images can seem misleading regarding colours. Deficient product in personal experience.

Please note > Pictures of baby not mine! The Web site ~*~ 'Mother Dearest' The Mothercare website has a lovely professional appearance. The Home page is one the consumer is taken to upon entering the site, http://www.mothercare.com/ As with quality brand consumer sites in general, the top heading is laid out with the click assist pages 'Home, Store Finder, Shopping Basket, My Account, My Wish List, Gift List and Help', then just underneath is the 'your basket 0 items £0.00' with 'Checkout' alongside. Additionally, there is a 'Search In' clicking list and as a quick assistance, one can enter ... more

Advantages Advantages Quality Products, Reasonable Prices

Disadvantages Disadvantages Almost non-existant customer care

I always say that a good review approaches a product from all angles even if their overall opinion of said product is negative. Well tough, I hate them, they're making me miserable - that's my review right there. Not enough to go on? *sighs* fine I'll give it a go. Well firstly I'll start with why I ordered from Mothercare online in the first place. I needed a toddler bed for my tall (almost falling out of his cot) little boy and couldn't possibly have fitted even a flat-pack bed in my little car. Originally I was going to order from Argos online however what I really wanted was a white bed to ... more

Advantages Advantages Straightforward site, price promise guarantee, fast delivery

Disadvantages Disadvantages Delivery normally only free for orders over £150

As I am pregnant with my third child, I am more than a little familiar with the Mothercare brand and have been a frequent shopper instore over the years. Surprisingly, I haven't ever placed an order with Mothercare online probably because we have a large store about a twenty minute drive away and because I'm always reluctant to pay any additional delivery charges. I do think it is best to go into an actual store to actually see most baby items in person and get a feel for them (particularly items such as pushchairs and car seats.) After this initial research, I then tend to go online and see ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick and easy, you don't get tired feet.

Disadvantages Disadvantages limited to what is on the website

My little girl had grown out of her first car seat and I needed to get a new one for the next time my mum came to pick us up in her Mo-mo. (this is what my mum call’s her car, worrying I know but well you’ve not met my mother!) As we don’t have a car actually going somewhere to purchase a seat was going to be difficult, we’d have to get there and then bring a bulky car seat home with us. Suddenly and idea struck! “Why don’t you check out the mothercare website?” My husband suggested “they'll probably have car seats and then we can get it delivered, oh and you can use your card too!” I sprinted ... more

Advantages Advantages SHOP FROM HOME, HOME DELIVERY AVAILABLE, NO-HASSLE RETURNS

Disadvantages Disadvantages NOT EVERYTHING CAN BE FOUND ON WEBSITE

When i was expecting my second child, I found shopping a nightmare. Not only did I have a one-hour round drive to the main shopping centre, but added to that an over inquisitive 5 year old to contend with. Not my idea of fun at any time, so after a few stressful trips to countless baby shops and hunting for a car parking space in easy walking distance I decided enough was enough and it was high time I tried out online shopping. As it was five years since I'd had my daughter we had lent most of our stuff to friends and family and it had been handed back looking old and tatty so I realised it ... more

Advantages Advantages shop anytime day or night

Disadvantages Disadvantages can take up to 3 days to get a mistake corrected unless you go to a shop for an instock item

While expecting our new arrival, we looked all over the place at baby things. We soon settled on Mothercare for sourcing most of our goods. They had the furniture, the decor, and clothes, toys and more. The prices were good, and when they have sales, the prices are just that much better. Time went on, and I discovered Mothercare.com, the online version of their catalogue service, Mothercare Direct. We registered with the site, and used the giftlist facilty to make a shopping list. Friends and family who were given the access code could even view and shop from the list. We actually ordered from ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick delivery, easy safe transaction, great online discounts compared to the store

Disadvantages Disadvantages Discounts only offered online

At my age I have had the experience of many friends who have had family members as well as children within my family and everyone has praised mothercare. In the months leading up to the arrival of your little baby it is important to have a good look around for the products that you are looking to purchase and to also get a good feel for what you want and need. We went to Mothercare to take a look at the prams after visiting the very overprices Mamas and Papas shop and the larger department stores and found that Mothercare was just what we had been looking for. We had visited the shop and ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick and easy, no temptation for things you donl;t need

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only take major credit cards

I have to admit that I'm not a big lover of Mothercare - far too much Winnie the Pooh stuff at very expensive prices - however, the website shopping is very good. Firstly, it's convenient. I don;t have to load the kids into the car or spend 2 days persuading my husband that we need to set foot inside the store. The search facility is quite good and you can find quite a lot of things through it,. Obviously the choice of products isn't as big as the store, but it does have it's benefits. I no longer spend 2 hours or so wandering around looking at all the really nice things that I just can;t ... more

Advantages Advantages quite quick and easy

Disadvantages Disadvantages site layout not always helpful

When you are eight months gone and can no longer see your feet, probably the last thing you want to do is trudge around shops in search of baby stuff - its hard work and travelling with a bump is no fun at all. Furthermore, if you don't live somewhere large, you may not even have access to a maternity/baby shop without making a huge trip. Shopping online has a good few advantages - speed, not having to get large bulky items home, not having to drag your weary self around narrow aisles and the like. Sites tend to be better stocked than local shops, which might run out of the critical thing you ... more

I have mixed feelings about Mothercare,I think they have become somewhat complacent about the service the provide. There still the first place most people go for baby equipment but why? Is it because they are the only high street store that dedicate themselves to selling baby equipment.I know thats the only reason I go if there was an alternative I would not shop at Mothercare. The Mothercare in the town where I live is one of there larger stores and its on two levels the lower floor is for clothes and everything else is upstairs but the main problem is actually finding staff to help you.
