I am a confirmed muso having played in bands for many years and MP3.com is an ideal platform for musicians to get their sounds heard. MP3.com has had a lot of publiciity through it's court cases where it's trying to make it's service legal and come to agreements with the labels. But it's my.mp3.com service which has had all the publicity doesn't work for most cds here in the uk, so it isn't that useful. It doesn't seem to contain many bands / singers blah blah blah whatever, that I have ever heard of, but the ones that it does have, are sometimes quite amazing. The best feature of the site is the endless lists of top 40's (they go right back in to the 1000's actually), with a chart dedicated to each different genre (of ...
...many thousand songs to pick from to download, these individual charts give a rough representation of which are the best. They also give a worldwide opinion and not just a localised view. The sites search facility is very easy to use, and quite often comes up with exactly what you're looking for (if its there). Before fully downloading a song, it also gives you the chance to listen to it in Lo-Fi, so you can see if you like it. This is what I like ...
