    Napster was by far the most accurate, fast, efficient and one of a kind peer2peer mp3 downloader. I use the word “was” because no one has writen something since the day that we had to pay for it. Suddenly became the “bad” guy on the web, because now everyone has to pay for something that it used to be free. I don’t say that I wasn’t disappointed when I heard that I have to pay for the songs, but I thought that it was something like demo or free trial software, where they want you to get used to it, and then they say that you have to pay.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Being actively handicapped by the USA high court.

    Napster is certainly causing a lot of headline news right now. The mp3 file sharing system has come under attack for not securing the service against copyright fraud. This has meant that people can download copyrighted songs for free - losing the record compnies an estimated revenue in the million pounds mark. It's hard to see how they can arrive at this figure though - but thats what they say. I personally have used Napster almost a year. Shaun Fannings dream came true and the site now has over 2million members using its software (this is rapidly increasing - especially with all the headlines ... more

    Don’t Fancy paying out money for a single?, then why not get it for free!! With one of the most popular program around today, I give you NAPSTER!!     Dear beloved, we are gathered here today to lament the passing of a friend treasured and beloved by all of us. The Napster we knew (v2.0 Beta 9.6) has died, the upstanding defender of freedom to exchange material has been murdered brutally by the forces of capitalism. Many of us came to know Napster only in its latter years at Internet bandwidth increased and downloading times dropped to the point that obtaining an average MP3 file via Napster needn't take the average user more than fifteen minutes or so.     Napster has been in the press so much lately. Its name is almost synonymous with that of MP3. It offers a service by allowing users of music stored on their PC to communicate with each other and to swap music files. For the price of a local call, which in some cases is now nothing anyway, users can spend about 10-15 minutes depending on modem speed downloading tracks that they want.     A while ago I downloaded ‘Napster 2.0 beta 7’ because a male friend of mine had been going on about it for months, telling me how brilliant it was and how he downloaded scores of old tracks and loads of new ones. I’ve just downloaded the next version which is beta 9.6. It takes about 5 minutes to download the software from the site, which is very fresh and well planned out, but after you’ve started downloading it can get a little boring.     Napster is the most famous MP3 site. It is world renowned for providing free music, via their idea of 'file sharing', which the US Government isn't too keen on. The idea of 'file sharing' is that every Napster user can download files free of charge from other users of Napster, and that other users can download from you. Napster probably has every song ever made somewhere in it, and providing you are patient, you will eventually find it.
