Advantages: Quick, simple to use, very user-friendly Disadvantages: May become integrated into the eBay web site
I’ve been using www.ebay.com now for the best part of two years. In that time, I’ve sold loads of different things, but mainly music CDs. In my experience, the way to really maximise your chances of getting good loot is to open your auction out to the global community. Sadly, this can lead to delays and complications for both parties, because cash payments take a long time to arrive. For my latest batch of auctions – some 500 in total – I decided ...

Advantages: Swift transfer of money from one end of the world to the other. Disadvantages: charges.
I like Paypal. There are those who argue against it because of the charges that they levy for their services, but for me, it is a swift way of getting money from A to B, and if I have to pay a little for the use of their services, I really do not mind very much.
WHAT IS PAYPAL ?
Well its a secure way of getting money from A to B. Suppose for example, you want to sell something on Ebay (one of the auction sites on the internet). People place ...

Advantages: Fast and trustworthy, reduce bank commission charges Disadvantages: Site can be slow loading
If like me, you spend a lot of buying and selling at auctions, or have a website where you want to sell to folks worldwide, sending and receiving payments overseas can be a nightmare! Banks and Building Societies can charge you a fortune in commission for converting cheques into sterling (and vice versa) and you can lose a lot of profit. An alternative is PayPal, a simple and reliable way to send money to any email address in the world and accruing ...

Advantages: Quick, secure, easy Disadvantages: Small charge made
As you know I have recently opened a shop on Ebay selling watches and clocks – the shop address is on my Ciao home page if you’re interested. I had quite a few overseas bidders ask if I used any of the automated payment sites and I had to say ‘no’ and request cheques including an extra £5 costs so that they could be converted back to sterling by my bank.
Clearly this isn’t a good idea and, if wanted my shop to be a success, I needed to sort out ...

Advantages: great in theory Disadvantages: not so great in practice
The premise behind paypal is both simple and appealing: The internet is a slightly scary place to shop, so rather than risking giving your credit card details out online, you set up a paypal acocunt and shift money through there - they deal with the companies, you get added piece of mind and everything is joyous. Better yet, you can send money to people, demand money from people, all at no cost. Furthermore, reward sites can reward you, shifting money ...

Advantages: Fast and simple transactions, can attract more eBay custom Disadvantages: Hidden charges can prove very expensive, terms and conditions are often vague
PayPal has always meant "no cheques needed" to me, someone who must have spent at least a thirtieth of his life on eBay and who is sick of licking those thin, long envelopes. When I received my 'proper' debit card from the bank on turning 18 I went straight to it, and began to build up a considerable balance through selling things on eBay. But now, this has ceased... read on to discover the terrible secrets of PayPal.com...

Advantages: Collects money owed to you Disadvantages: Payment in U.S. Dollars, Need an account which allows $ transfers.
A lot of new internet sites are springing up especially in the U.S. and most of them allow U.K. members to collect rewards, especially "Paid to Click" and Paid e-mail sites, however with most of them the pay out can be very small, around 50c to $2 a month each, payment being in U.S. currency, a lot of them also have a minimum payment varying from around $15 to as much as $100, this obviously can take a long time to collect, indeed with the earnings ...

Advantages: Convenient way to send payments via the Internet Disadvantages: Poor customer service when things go wrong
Paypal can be a wonderful way to send and receive money securely and anybody who uses it will agree. It is easy to do transactions and you are always emailed a copy of your transaction be it money going out or in.
This is where the praise ends!!!!!!
Firstly Paypal is not a bank it is a company who handles online secure payments and is therefore not governed by the same rules or regulations of banking institutions

Advantages: Fast Secure Deposits and Withdrawals (Now to UK Banks) Disadvantages: Not enough Casinos use it at present, Access can be slow at times , possibly due to the site being busy at the US peak period
I gamble in a small way at online casinos, my tactics have been to cash in when my account showed $100+ balance.
However some casinos will charge $25 to send a cheque, taking up to six weeks to arrive from the USA to the UK, and then my bank was charging $15 (£10) to cash it, leaving me with $60 (£40).
I was starting to wonder if it was worth the hassle, considering I was leaving my credit card details with lots of different Casinos mainly in ...

Paypal for those that don't know is essentially a way to pay people over the internet by debit/credit cards. As long as they have an email address they can receive money. All good in theory as may not want to wait for check to clear or may have difficulties paying with cash etc.
