    Having lots of animals I like having a look through various animal related websites to have a look at any new items I can find. It is also useful to look at animal related websites as quite often they have lots of useful information regarding various pets which is always useful to read. This is where I came across www.petsathome.co.uk which is the online version of the shop Pet’s At Home.     Having pets these days can be extremely expensive, but generally the rewards of having a family pet mean the money is well spent. I am always trying to cut down on money that is wasted unnecessarily and I am always on the look out for a bargain! As I have previously mentioned in my opinion on Chappie Dog food, this is the only brand my dog can stomach on a regular basis. In fact we only tried this on the recommendation of our Vet.     I love get something for nothing so when I saw a flyer for a free goodie bag for my dog at my local pet shop, I picked it up. The flyer was advertising an online pet website called WWW.PETSATHOME.COM. All you had to do was go online, register for free and answer four very easy pet questions ( when I say easy, I mean easy!! An example is “ how many legs does a spider have?”). So I did this, and about ten days later I got a pencil case (!) and a few variety of dog treats, plus a pencil and rubber.     Having bought my first ever pet from this store, in Rugby, I have stuck to it ever since. Their shops are well-stocked and the staff are very helpful. The website is an added bonus, because there is no store close to where I live now. This website is more than excellent, covering food, housing, toys, tips and advice and more. It is user-friendly, everything is clearly priced and there is a picture for every product as well as an informative description.     As a dedicated and loving pet owner, I love to browse through pet departments looking for new products, gadgets and gizmos etc. I began to shop at Pets At Home stores and found all of them to be kept clean and tidy, well staffed and the best part of all, the animals looking clean and healthy, bright eyed and bushy tailed. The animals have plenty of room to meet their needs and there are always staff around to check on the little (and large) critters.     Pets at Home is just another massive chain store with just wanting money. Personally i think they don't even care about the animals and just see them as another product on the shelf. As a breeder of parrots, parakeets and various other finches i can see that the birds at pets at home are poor quality, ill, in over crowded cages and very very over priced. The birds sit there in cramp smelly cages, with no room to fly, no bathes, not enough perching space and kept and fed by un knowledgeable pets at home staff.     Only recently did i look on the petsathome website to realise that it had very very little information and a new site was coming soon, i'd of expected them to keep the old site running un-til the new one was online. I went on their to look for a product i was intrested in purchasing and instead of being able to just have a look at it and get the general idea of how good the product was and compare different brands of the product suitabe for what i wanted by simply looking on their site we had to drive to the nearest petsathome 15miles away.     Ive always popped into the local pets at home store , to buy stuff for my dog. It always seems clean, and although the animals are kept in small stuffy cages and seem to be distressed (especially the birds) I assumed that as they would be sold on at least they would be going to a better home. A friend of mine stsarted working there the other week and is absolutly discusted in the way in which the animals are treated. My friend first job was a fish run, where you remove dead fish from tanks. A few times my friend has been asked to remove ill looking fish, not to be put in an isolation unit ... more

    An utterly atrocious experience without doubt! Pet at Home are clearly just in this industry for the money, and everything they can take from this sector of the market. Uniformed, pretentious and/or "wrong" products and poor conditions for animals who are in poor condition themselves. What gals me most is their pretence to care for pets and their owners, at least have the honesty to say you're going to take them for a ride and treat them like fools! I sincerely hope that this pet store giant suffer the same fate as the titanic and sinks into the icy depth never to mislead any pet owner ever ... more

    I work in a pets at home store and id just like to say that in the store that i work the animals are very well looked after and the staff do care about the welfare of the animals they recieve fresh fruit and veg every other day and are cleaned out daily and the cages are never over crowded, when selling any of the animals staff do their best to make sure that they will be going to loving knowledgable homes an its made clear that buying an animal is not just a spur of the moment thing, if anything seems unwell whilst in the shop i work ins care then they are taken off sale and an appointment is ... more
