    I put in a product request for this about 3 months ago and forgot to write a review I come back and not one but eleven people had beat me to it! What would the people of Ciao do without my proposals? HOW I CAME ACROSS PIXMANIA My birthday was on the 18th September and I decided that I wanted a mini Ipod from my mum and dad but didn't bother looking on the net for one until the 17th September.     I was thinking of buying a new camera so I went online searching for the best deal I could find and discovered that Pixmania were offering it at a great price. Pixmania, for those of you who don't know, despite having a .co.uk site are actually based in France but offer some great deals on electrical products and cameras in particular. I first ordered from them way back in 2003 when I bought a digital camcorder and I was impressed with them then so I was quite happy to place an order again to see if they were just as good.     Hmm - Pixmania! Last week my tumble dryer went kaput for about the fourth time in two years. The money I have spent to get it fixed each time would have bought me a new one. So, this time I decided to actually get a new one. I spent all Saturday afternoon going through the various options; Tesco, Argos, Comet, Amazon ..... .     I am a regular online shopper and often search out bargains on line using search engines like pricerunner.com which is how I came across a great deal for a Canon CX6600 on pixmania.co.uk. It came up nearly £10 cheaper than Amazon and promised a rapid delivery. The site itself was quick to load, well laid out and well labeled with a phone number on every page and a Frequently asked questions page which covered all aspects of the buying and returns process.     I had decided to buy a Sony SR11 camcorder, and Pixmania appeared to be a reputable site. So I went through the online ordering process, managed eventually to fin dout how to delete the extras that Pixmania had added in to my shopping basket without my permnission, and then checked out to buy with my Amex card. The transaction failed, with the bald message saying that "Your transaction could not be completed, try again". So I did, with exactly the same result.     Thanks to everyone that posted a review about Pixmania. I had an order in for a Canon digital camera. I ordered it on the 20th June 2006 and have been waiting since, the order tracking said it had received the payment after a few days but it never went past the payment phase. I also had the dhl next day delivery option. I tried to contact them, there's an email on the irish site but I got a failed delivery report saying it didn't exist.     As the mixed reviews of Pixmania appeared to show that they had improved their customer service, I decided to give them a shot. I accessed the site thru a rather worthwhile price comparison link on Ciao, otherwise I would never have heard of them. I am glad I did! The website was bright and easy to negotiate. I found what I wanted (an Olympus Camedia C160) very easily, and ordered one, along with a 128Mb card and a carrying pouch, with extreme ease. The articles for sale are able to be purchased singly or included in pre-chosen bundles. I am not sure whether you can order "odd" things ... more

    My experience with this company has been pretty bad. I bought a pair of infrared headphones, which were supposedly in stock, and a couple of weeks later I received a package containing not the expected headphones, but some cheap earbud-style ones. I checked the order and invoice and these were supposedly a free gift which accompanied the model I had ordered. But where were the ones I had ordered? I got in touch with Pixmania, although having ordered from the Spanish section of the site they wouldn’t accept my enquiry in English and I had to write back in Spanish - terrible customer service ... more

    I purchased a £ 750 Projector from them. The web site incdicated it was 'In Stock'. After several days it hadn't turned up despite paying a premium price, so I contacted them. They said there had been a problem with my transaction and I needed to send in a Photo copy of my passport and a utility bill ! Strangely the money had been taken out of my account so there didn't seem to be any problem in reality. This seemed to be delaying tactics and I guessed they didn't actually have one in stock.     I was pleased with the service, the price, and the use of the website. However, please be warned that the after-sales service is TERRIBLE! I had a WiFi accessory which was faulty, and broke down within about 5-6 weeks of delivery. However, instead of a replacement, Pixmania insisted they would have to take it in for repairs. I had to re-package the item and send it off (paying for this myself). It took about 2-3 weeks for them to acknowledge reciept of the item (because their returns process goes through so many courier depots).
