Advantages Advantages Lots of fun, wide range of products

Disadvantages Disadvantages High Postage and call charges

I first encountered Price Drop TV when we purchased our Freeview box early last year. Flicking through the channels, I noticed there were a couple of Shopping channels, namely QVC, Bid Up TV and price Drop TV. I didn't really take much notice of them - the idea of sitting there with the presenters trying to sell some obscure object really didn't appeal to me. However, I received a phone call one day from my mum who excitedly told me she had managed to buy my brother a brand new mountain bike for just £1. At first I thought she was going a bit mad - after all, what company can afford to sell ... more

This review is for the television channel price-drop.tv. Who Are They? Price drop TV is actually a part of a Virgin Media Company named Sit-Up and this channel was launched in 2003 and there is another 3 shopping channels distributed by this firm which are Bid.tv, Speed Auction.tv and Screen shop. They make in excess of £100 million pounds a year turnover which is quite a large sum and you will find out why as this review continues, they win many awards for their great prices and innovations. How the Process Works The idea is you go to the channel either on Sky or Freeview and you basically ... more

Advantages Advantages The odd genuine bargain, excellent production

Disadvantages Disadvantages Isn't as rewarding for the buyer as the format sounds

With the roaring success of Freeview, the battle to conquer the television shopping market is well and truly up for grabs. It seems that not a month goes by without the introduction of a brand new retail station offering us "the finest bargains available". At the front of that market is Price-Drop TV, owned and produced by sit-up Ltd - the brains behind several sister stations, all of which aim to steal away with our hard earned dosh. So who are these seedy auctioneers with the promise to sell you the greatest deals on the planet? Good question. Shopping via the television is a relatively new ... more

What is price-drop tv? price-drop tv is the 2nd shopping channel to have been launched by Sit-up Shopping Limited. Prior to the launch of price-drop tv in 2003, Sit-up shopping operated their only other shopping channel at the time, bid-up tv, which consisted of a rising price dynamic. Due to the overwhelming success of bid-up tv ( now bid tv) , sit-up shopping launched price-drop tv, in 2003. Since the launch of price-drop tv, sit-up tv have gone on to launch a further shopping channel, titled Speed Auction TV, although nowadays, the name is a little irrelevant - initially the channel was a ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages music gets annoying, P&P a little high, £1 to call.

In the last month or so id got to hear about Price-drop.tv . How addicting can this channel get? Well if you’re addicted to Ebay then don’t watch this channel. You have been warned. The only reason I had to go have a look at this shopping shop was because a friend told me that they were selling a bike. The guide price was £299 and it MEGA dropped to a £1. How fantastic is that. Well I was hooked before id even looked at this home shopping channel. In the first hour id bought a 5 piece pan set, with a 3 tier steamer for £28, the guide price was £100. Since then ive come to buy a few other items ... more

Price-drop.tv is a shopping channel available on Freeview and sky television. The channel aims to give the audience some spectacular deals on items ranging from electrical to towels and handbags. The channel first launched 7 years ago and they are currently having a small decline in the items they sell and this is mainly due to the quality of them rather than quantity. The show usually follows a set television guideline and you might find in the morning they have children’s toys on air and then afterwards jewellery but this is not always the case. The channel has various items broadcasted ... more

THE PROCUCTS This is quite a good shopping channel, they sell a variety of things these include clothing, cutlery, crockery, bedding, ornaments, toys, CD's, games and loads more. I have bought a coat for £15, a set of 6 mugs for £10 and a digital camera for £50 from Price Drop and they have all be of good quality. The coat was a winter coat with fur around the collar and cuffs, you know the type I mean, it was thick and warm, exactly as described, and I still have it after about a year and a half so it is lasting quite well too. The mugs are wedgewood, so good quality as described, and the ... more

Advantages Advantages Range of products kind of entertaining at times

Disadvantages Disadvantages Real price is unclear as postage is clearly over what it should be

I had the house to myself this weekend and was well bored (as nice as it is to have a few days to myself I can't deny missing having other people around the house), however that combined with a rare day off, and miserable weather outside, left me channel surfing, until I stumbled across the 800 range, (which on Free Sat anyhow is where the shopping channels lurk). Pricedrop TV is located on channel 37 on freeview, 645 on Sky, 801 on Freesat and 741 on Virgin Media, basically chances are if for some reason you desire to watch it you can. Set up in 2003, and owned by Bid Shopping (also runs Bid ... more

Advantages Advantages Can grab a bargain -

Disadvantages Disadvantages Addictive, the postage, returns and customer services

I must sadly admit that when I first started watching this addictive shopping channel some 8 months ago on Sky Digital, I became rather self commited to tuning in when ever I got the chance! The friendly chatty hosts must have bedazzled me and tuned my mind into thinking that 'This was the place to shop for those great bargains'!! Like everyone else, I placed an order via the telephone with a £1 charge for the call - I then realised if I registered with them on line that placing a bid cost me nothing other than the internet connection I was already using !!!! No one phoned you back to confirm ... more
