Advantages: great selection, something different, good prices Disadvantages: "plus de" junk mail!
I'm not a fashion fascist or anything, but let's be clear – I know what I like. In my twenty-second year, I feel rather proud to say I've finally reached a good place in My Wardrobe Story. A good place is where you've finally done the grown-up thing after years of wondering why your legs aren't like hers and your breasts aren't like hers, and just accepted your shape and learned how to dress it in what suits it well. A good place is where you've ... ...where you've learned how to mix and match different things. Most importantly, a good place means you've found your own style.
So yes, I will smile graciously and throw up my hands just a tiny bit smugly, for I have reached a good place and I know what's what, kids.
So if I've reached a good place, why the heck hasn't the high street reached it, huh???!!
Let me elaborate. While on occasion I will go and impulse buy with the best of them, most shopping ...

La Redoute. I've always loved their clothes. As I used to live in Belgium, we had their catalogues all the times. From tiny tot to 23, I've always worn clothes from La Redoute. La Redoute have been in UK for 11 years now and are part of the Redcats' group, who are the world's 3rd largest home shopping organisation. Others in this group in the UK are Empirestores, Daxon and Vertbaudet. But what is La Redoute? La Redoute is foremost a catalogue company. ... ...website. In France, they even have shops, which means you can actually try on the clothes in the catalogue but unfortunately, they don't in this country. La Redoute is known all over the world. They have their catalogue and websites in 15 different countries including USA.
Nobody knew what I was talking about when I said Oh yay La Redoute has a catalogue in UK. Even after 11 years, they aren't a big catalogue in this country compared to what they ...

Advantages: Different, stylish clothes. Fast delivery. Online payment. Disadvantages: Where do I begin?! (see op)
I'm not sure if I fit into the mould of "typical woman". Typical woman would probably mean me having wardrobes and wardrobes of clothes and enjoy shopping for them. Well, I don't. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a miserable sod who dresses like a tramp(!) I just buy a few quality items and that's that. My particular hate, is buying stuff that I'll never wear again - stuff that's destined to hang in the back of the wardrobe for all eternity.
On that ... ...invited to my best friend's wedding (there's a film there somewhere!) Now as you can probably guess, I don't have a wardrobe stuffed full of wedding outfits! I was going to have to face up to the horrible truth that I would have to buy something dressy (and potentially destined for the depths of the wardrobe afterwards). My other half also pointed out that he was going to need a new shirt and trousers too. The thought of a trip into town shopping ...

Advantages: Good range of clothes, cheap, easy to order Disadvantages: some quality is not so good
I first ordered from La Redoute website (www.redoute.co.uk) recently when I was given an order code that gave me £25 off my order with no minimum spend value, plus free p&p so I thought I'd try it out. SEARCHING & ORDERING
I found the website easy to navigate and easy to use. There is a very wide range of products available and some can even be tried on your "Virtual Model" (www.mvm.co.uk) to get a good idea of what items look like before you order. ... ...basket and the payment and personal details sections were clear and easy to use.
PRICE
My first order worked out as completely free because of the special order code, however the prices on the website are pretty reasonable. They are approximately the same, if not a bit lower, than average high street prices, but has the convienience of being able to pay in small installments if you wish.
QUALITY
Most of the items I have ordered have been of good ...

Advantages: The free gifts Disadvantages: The sizing
My first introduction to the Redoute catalogue was via the Internet. There was an introductory offer of £25 off your first order which sounded a bit too good to be true to me but I thought I would have a look anyway. It's always difficult to have a good look at the clothes on the Internet but I managed to pick out some very reasonably priced sweaters, gave my debit card details on their secure site and waited.
A week or so later, the jumpers arrived ... ...I wanted to return them, all I had to do was to ring the telephone number on the parcel and they would come and collect them or I could take them to the Post Office if I wanted to. Should I want another item sent in it's place, no p+p would be charged. No problem there then. The paperwork inside was quite easy to follow. I was really chuffed with the sweaters and looked forward to seeing what else Redoute did.
Before long my catalogue arrived. A ...

La Redoute is a French, chic, stylish company with a fantastic website for online shopping that claims to be France's No1 fashion collection. The brand primarily focuses upon women's fashion, however its other departments are just as successful and incorporate; Women, Shoes and accessories, Lingerie, Plus-Size, Children, Sport, Men, Homeware, Verbaudet and a continuous Sale section. The women's collection has many high fashion and unique pieces, but also stocks classic pieces that one always needs which is great as it suits all ages. Nearly everything has an option for other colours which is fab if you're as fussy as me! The website also includes a range of designer items.
The children's section is particularly charming ...

Confession time - I am a bit of a catalogue fiend. There is nothing better than leafing through choosing new clothes at three in the morning when you can't sleep. From my current five catalogues, La Redoute is where I turn for unusual, good value items.
La Redoute is a french company that has grown in popularity over the last five years. When I first got into it, no-one over here had really heard of the company. It is still the case that none of ... ...plusses and minuses about using the company, and they are:
VERY BAD THINGS
1. This is one of the few catalogues that charge interest on your outstanding balance. Most of the time I pay my balance in full, but when money gets a bit tight I just pay the minimum till the next month. However, if you do not pay in full, then you do get hit by the interest, which I think works out at 29.9%APR - pretty steep, I'm sure you'll agree.
2. They charge for ...

I have not always used La Redoute as my first mail order catalogue but after hearing many recommendations from friends, I decided to give them a try. I received a catalogue promptly and begin flicking through the pages like a maniac looking for what I wanted to buy. I was not short on what to buy there were lots of great items and there always is and at affordable prices too.
I always flick through from start to finish missing out menswear but there ... ...for something specifically. There are lots of offers on and I am sent things too like getting 10% off orders over a certain amount. They have a lot of good brand names and lots of their own clothes too. They do womenswear, menswear, childrens, sportswear, bags and shoes, home items etc. Some people may say they are a typical catalogue but they are not because they are one of the few who have a lot of their own items so that they are original and ...

I am not a fan of mail-order shopping in general because it's hard to know what you're getting, but out of the ones I've tried, La Redoute is the cataloque I prefer. Maybe it's because I've lived in France and like French clothes! But I do find that La Redoute has the most clothes which appeal to me.
Of course I think there's a lot of junk in there too - by junk I mean styles I don't like. But there is a very wide range, so I would imagine there's ... ...those where you can buy very cheap clothes (particularly for the summer) which still look nice and are of reasonable quality. For example this summer I bought a pair of pink shorts (£13, catalogue no. 797.0927) and a stripy, orangey-coloured shirt in a light material (£13, catalogue no. 467.3263). I also like the section 'Soft Grey' which provides simple casuals in a medium price-range, but looks different to most of the clothes you see in England. ...

Advantages: Great Choice, cheap sections Disadvantages: Generally pricey, slow, uncommunicative, rubbish customer service, awful courier system, No Updates
I have used the service of this "French chic" catalogue on numerous occasions without a problem, my clothes have arrived, they usually fit, and it if they don't then you can arrange a day for a courier to come and collect the parcel free of charge.
My last two experiences have been somewhat different. In January I placed a lingerie order for my mums birthday present. Most items were out of stock, now I can appreciate that it was just after Christmas ... ...else. The payment was accepted and the goods arrived - late!
When placing an order (I did mine online) you are told that delivery will take 7 -10 days and cost £3.00 per order.
My latest order I placed on the 2nd April to the tune of approximately £200.00. Its not like it was a small order, not that this should make a difference. The website is very well presented and you are given the option to search the site or purchase your items using the ...

Advantages: good sales Disadvantages: very slow delivery, wrong items often sent
I have been using La Redoute for years now and the only thing I have the catalogue for is their sales. Their service in general is not very good but they do reduce their clothes a lot!
The clothes in the La Redoute catalogue are not your height of fashion clothes that you would be wearing out. They are basic things that you can wear every day. Obviously everybody needs these so having a catalogue full of them can’t be a bad thing!
Ordering ... ...on the internet or by post on an order form. All of these are very easy to do. Now this is where it all goes wrong. Order take ageeeeeeeees to deliver. If the items you have ordered are in stock you are looking at minimum two weeks. If they are not in stock you could be waiting up to two months for them. This is obviously completely useless if you have ordered yourself a new summer wardrobe and it takes two months to deliver it so when you do eventually ...

Advantages: Some good designs that don't have Designer price tags. Nice catalogues. Disadvantages: Not all the clothes they sell are value for money. Dodgy courier service.
I was a La Redoute member for about a year and a half. I must say their catalogues are always arranged in a very attractive way, and some of their clothing designs are quite nice and unique (not often seen on high street shops yet) and don't have an expensive Designer price tag. I've ordered clothes for myself, my husband and my daughter. However, some of their clothes look better on print than in reality. The materials used for some of their clothes ... ...cheap and doesn't feel very nice on the skin. Myself and my daughter suffer from eczema from time to time and these polyester-like clothings just aren't any good for us.
Their cotton and wool clothes are okay, but they aren't as cheap as the polyester ones of course. Also, some of them don't wash and keep very well. It really is "disposable" clothing, if you know what I mean. A lot of the clothes I'd bought from high street shops like NEXT or Jane ...

I love La Redoute. I turned to it when I was getting bored of my mother's catalogue (Kays) and wanted something different - most other UK catalogues look so samey. I tend to have a catalogue because I find it easier to browse through than staring at a computer screen, but maybe that's just my eyesight!
I will get the one disadvantage out of the way: there is a flat-rate postage and packing charge of £3.45. This is very reasonable when you're buying three or more items, but if you just want one cheap item, it bumps up the price by a good percentage. ...

I started using La Redoute catalogue, after I saw some clothes modelled in Mother and Baby Magazine. I have got to admit they are beautiful clothes. So I sent off for the catalogue which duly arrived (about 2 months later) and sat down to have a good flick through. There are three sections Femme, Enfant and Homme (by now you will have gathered that this is french fashion!!). The female section is quite classy, with clothes ranging from tailored suits ... ...this includes gear from well known names such as Adidas, Reebok etc. The clothes are well made and I like the casual gear, baggy tops, leggings etc (well I am a mommy!!)but, beware La Redoutes clothing size and a normal persons clothing size differ somewhat. A size 12 in our language is probably a size 14 in theirs!! It would be wise to order 2 sizes to make comparisons. The childrens section ranges from 0 to 16 years and has a section called Midi ...

La Redoute is a moderately priced catalogue that gives a good alternative to the regular mail-order catalogues. The range of clothes offered is good with an emphasis on fashion and is thus more suitable for the younger market. However, there are a good number of more classic lines which are suitable for all. One area that is worth a look at is their range of business suits. The mens section majors on smart casual clothes, in a medium price range and compares well with cotton traders and other smaller catalogues. ...
