Advantages: brilliantly designed, easy to use, loads of jobs! Disadvantages: Sign up process can be lengthy
reed.co.uk is a great online agency web site that offers thousands of jobs in hundreds of sectors. The site has well over forty thousand recruiters so there is no drought of vacancies. The web site is well designed and very professional
and the features of the web site are amazing and I've covered them in more detail later on in this review. I have covered my experience with reed, what I have found, and what my future with them will be.
My Experience ... ...first came across reed.co.uk when I was using a search engine to find agencies that offered Information and Communication Technology jobs in the London area. It was one of the highest ranked results in the search engine, but I
hadn't heard of them before. I had joined other agencies on the Internet and I was in the 'I want a new job mode' and decided that I would set aside some hours to join some agencies and complete everything to the best that ...

Advantages: Easy to use, they do get in touch Disadvantages: Make you feel they can practically guarantee an interview, then you never hear another word
I tried reed.co.uk after seeing some advertising for them. I was unhappy in my current job and wanted to move on to something new, and this seemed a good way of doing so. It was easy enough to fill in details and upload my CV, and I sat back and waited to see what reed.co.uk would find for me.
Sadly my experience with reed.co.uk hasn't been a positive one. To their credit they were the only job site I registered with (and I tried several) who actually ... ...might be interested in. The problem was that though their staff were very enthusiastic and polite (though sometimes a bit confused- they'd ask me if I'd registered with their particular office and I had to keep explaining I'd registered on-line), they'd tell you about a job and make it sound like they were really keen for you to apply for it and they thought you had a good chance of getting it as the employer needed it soon- and after all it was ...

Advantages: loads of various agencies adverising, free to advertise for agencies Disadvantages: no ability to see when the jobs were posted
Reed.co.uk is my favourite of the recruitment websites out there, the fact they offer a free service to agencies to advertise there positions on the website via the FreeCruit section means there is a constantly updated list of vacancies! The service from the website itself is very fast and throws out exactly what you ask from the searches, searching itself is very easy. On the left hand side of the main screen is drop down boxes where you can pick ... ...your registered all you have to do is click 'apply online' and if your registered it sends out your contact details and CV to the agencies advertising. This is ideal for applying for as many jobs as you can in as short a time as possible. The only piece of infomation I can give is don't apply for too many jobs in one go, because you will regret it the next day when companies are telephoning you up to get more infomation on you! The registration process ...

Advantages: Can search for jobs advertised directly by the employer. Disadvantages: Very few if any.
...my opinion, I have found reed.co.uk to be the best of the job web sites that I have used. There are two reasons for this; firstly you can filter out all employment agency advertised jobs and only get results of jobs advertised direct by employers. In the current very tough job market I believe this is a very important option to have because in general if you apply to an agency you are very unlikely to be offered an interview unless you fit the exact ... ...key and important feature of reed.co.uk is that you can search jobs by location/region/sector/job role, in fact you can search by one, more or all of these in conjunction with each other. So if I am looking for an accountancy job in Newcastle advertised directly by an employer it will do this search for me. A third feature I have just thought of is that it tells you against each vacancy how many applicants there have been so far, applicants that ...

I was quite happy and satisfied when I saw the search engines and the numerous positions advertised but whenever I decided to apply sending my CV online via the reed system everything was not working. Advantages: Liked the website design and layout Disadvantages: From my experience, they haven't done anything for me at all
I registered with the Reed graduates about a year ago now after I was recommended the website from my university careers service.
Since then I have searched for graduate and non graduate jobs on a regular basis and guess what???? they have exactly the kind of jobs that am looking for.
They may have the type of jobs that I am looking for but I have never ever got a response from any of the jobs I have applied for.

Advantages: online, web site easy to use, breaks down categories for you Disadvantages: not too many, if any, vacancies north of the border
I was recently surfing the recruitment agencies online and had a go with Reed as I've temped with them in the past.
The web site itself is easy to use, and you can search using geographical, occupational and salary criteria, and also whether or not you're looking for graduate jobs.
I'm not sure whether or not their online is in synch with their local branches, but even looking for IT jobs I could barely find any for Scotland, and definitely not ... ...look for administrative posts out of curiosity and also came up with 'nil points'.
The majority of jobs are based in the south-east which is fine if you want to move down there, or live there already. If like me, you live in the rest of the UK then you might be better off having a look at more locally based web sites, or just popping into your local Reed branch in person. I was quite surprised as there is a Reed branch in the city that I live in, ...

WWW.REED.CO.UK is by far the best online agency I have visited I would even rate it above Worktrain (the governments job centre website).
Reed are a recruitment agency and consultants.
My experiences have been very rewarding and I have been very pleased with the results.
Whether you are looking for Permanent or Temporary work there will always be something for you, they have a great search engine that you put in Location, Salary, Permenet/Temporary ... ...of available jobs (out of 100,000 currently online) not only from their database but other agencies as well so you have a great choice available to you.
As I noted above I think its better than Worktrain, on of the reasons is you can apply on line and send your CV and details so its less time messing about on the phone with the job centre.
If you decide to go for a REED registred job, a consultant will call you as soon as possible usually the same ...

Advantages: Free help on finding the right job Disadvantages: Slow to get any response
The attractions of online recruitment seem to be very appealing, especially to someone like myself who has been out of work for nearly a year and is now at the age where most people should be retiring.
I started on the Reed website about a year ago. The site is very user friendly but it relies very much on the accuracy of your input.
The first most important factor is setting up your personnal profile. This has to be an accurate resume of yourself ... ...qualifications and experience as exacting as possible.
The next factor is having a good CV. I changed mine several times before I got it right. When I was happy with it, your handiwork can then be pasted onto the site ready for employers to see.
The next thing to do is to set up the job you are looking for, the area of the country , and your expected salary level. The site will do a search for you based on the criteria provided.
If you find the ...

I have been recently looking for a new position and have found out to my cost some good lessons in finding a job.
1) Be prepared to wait for the right job but dont give up hope
2) Take along with you reeds your up to date CV it will save you alot of time and have it on disk so you can email them it.
3) Have a good look on all the sites and dont be affraid to look further afield because lets face it the UK is small and as long as you can travel ... ...Dont be affraid to ask for more money if you think your worth it and you know it then ask for it.
5) All because you havent heard from an agency doesnt mean they have forgotton about you, these agencies get paid for finding you a job so they wont ever forget about you.
6) Dont be affraid to turn a job down if you dont like it, its your life and whats the point in getting a job and then having to look for another in 6 months time.
7) Good luck ...

Advantages: Lots and lots of jobs Disadvantages: The branches are clueless
Reed is a frustrating experience for a job hunter.
Arguably, they have one of the best websites for jobs, in terms of volume and ease of use.
They have a lot of jobs that are actually from other agencies that they post on there - If you apply for one of these, then you may have some success as you are not actually dealing with the Reed branch direct.
However, if you apply for one of the Reed jobs, then you go into the inept service that is the ... ...Beware, they claim that their branches inform each other of jobs so you do not miss out, but in reality, they will stick to their own area only. So if you register in Kingston, you won't get any of the city jobs and vice versa.
Then if you find a job in another branch advertised they make it nigh on impossible to get considered for it.
Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired also. Many agencies will try and arrange appointments at the ...
