Advantages: Convenient, good customer service, punctual, easy to use, good value, efficient Disadvantages: None
I have been using online supermarkets for doing my weekly food shop for a couple of years now because I can't drive and got fed up of getting sore hands carrying my shopping back from town. I used other big name supermarkets but they were frequently late for their 2 hour delivery slot with no apology and items missing so I decided to try Sainsbury's.

I have found it easier to use than other supermarkets. It gives ... ...if you are following a diet as you can calculate whether or not it is suitable before buying from the comfort of your armchair. The site allows you to save your shopping list and remembers your usuals, you can view orders by date or by a list and it even remembers what you buy in-store personally (via my Nectar card I assume). The only aspect I have had issues with is when I save my shopping trolley and return to it things have been missing from ...

...(which is listed here as sainsburys.com for some reason - it's the same site by the way) for grocery shopping for about 12 months now. Why order online when there's a store so close, you might ask? Well that's because basically about once a month I order items for the office such as can drinks, tea, coffee, cereals, fruit, dishwasher supplies, cleaning products, etc. When I'm ordering 20 boxes of cereal and 100s of can of soft drinks and tea and ... ...to carry all that myself when we can have it delivered straight to our office kitchen! The site itself is very ORANGE obviously to go with their Sainsbury's logo which itself is orange, I try not to concentrate on the fact that there is just SO much orange on my screen when I log into the site. It's very easy to navigate the site and I find the pages refresh very quickly and to date I've never experienced delays in page changes or ...

Advantages: No more supermarkets! Good prices and product availability Disadvantages: None
...impressed with this I choose sainsburys.com to do my shopping, and I am so pleased that I did. No more trips to the supermarket for me! The delivery slots are hourly, and I even receive a phone call if the driver can not find the correct address. The product catalogue is brilliant, and substitutions are available, which are always good if the product you have chosen is unavailable. There are some great offers available on the website as well as the ...

So I decided to take the plunge and give home shopping a go - my partner is the only driver and away for two weeks so I thought home shopping would be cheaper than a bus there and taxi back.
I originally chose tesco's but had real trouble registering and it wouldn't delivery to my home address - kept saying it was business premises???
So I gave up on them and choose sainsburys instead.
THE WEBSITE:
It was very easy to register and link my nectarcard ... ...less than 5 minutes.
Once on the grocerys online part of the site it is all very clear and nicely split into categories:
Fresh food, Bakery, Food Cupboard, Frozen, Off Licence, Drinks, Health and Beauty, Baby, Household, Petshop, Newsagent and Summer.
(Compared to Asda - there is much more of a selection available. Compared to Tesco - much easier to navigate and sign up to.)
You are prompted immediately to pick a delivery slot - and that slot ...

Advantages: One hour delivery slots Disadvantages: Poor customer care
I am a big fan of internet grocery shopping as I find it saves me a great deal of time and hassle, and justify the delivery charge by the fact that I'm not using my car. After having used both Waitrose and Tesco for internet delivery and found them both good, I fancied a change and decided to try Sainsbury's.
I found the navigation around the site good, and liked that I could select 1 hour delivery slots, they also have a decent selection of homewares ... ...very frustrating that I couldn't add notes to the items e.g. 'boy coloured toothbrush please' or 'milk dated to 30th please' and this caused me problems with delivery and I had to send items back and then trail out to the shops for the items I had had to return. I was also unable to put delivery instructions on and had my groceries delivered to the front door instead of the back, where my kitchen is, but the delivery man was very courteous and helpful ...

Online shopping, well it has opened up a whole new world to me as a blind person.
I started using Sainsbury's online shopping around 9 months ago, and I have found it great. The first shop was the most difficult, I had to find everything, and as it was the first shop, had nothing in the usuals area. However, once you have done an initial shop, any items previously bought will be stored in my usuals.
I also like the fact that I am able to shop from ... ...is the same, this is a very convenient and quick way for me to shop. Just bring up the last order, adjust the quantities accordingly, and off you go.
The aisles are well set out, keeping fresh foods together, frozen together etc, then splitting down into smaller sections, so food and other items are easily located.
There is also a search facility, and you are also able to type in a whole list of products, which will then be located one at a time, ...

Advantages: Convenient Disadvantages: Substitutions and lack of care when packing
With the recent credit crunch upon us, I decided that it may be time to change my internet shopping company. I have been with Ocado for a few years and had no complaints except that the prices seemed to be creeping up and up. Before that I had used Sainsbury's, but had given up after the most ridiculous substitutions and items with a short shelf life. However, the best one came on the day I parted company with them way back in 2004.
I had ordered ... ...easy enough? The groceries at this time were picked from a large store in Coventry and not from my local store. When the shopping arrived the driver unpacked it all and then informed me that he was sorry but they had run out of ……….. ""MEAT!"" No meat in the entire store, so I packed everything back up and sent him away.
I have since found out that they now pick from my local store and as I often nip in there for bits and pieces I know what stock ...

Wow, can you believe it....my review for this was originally written in 2000 !!
Things have changed a bit since then. For starters you now don't have to wait 20 minutes for the site to load :)
OK, I admit it, I shop online....I'm not lazy, it's just more convenient. Sainsburys is my favourite place to shop and because I have a Necter Card then everything I buy is autmomatically logged on the shopping site. I can do my shop in 10 mins flat (it would take me 10 mins to go to the store, a further 5 to get the kids out of the car, then around an hour to complete my shop) Once logged in you can view all the stuff you usually ...

Sainsbury's has been my store for many years. We have a Morrisson's and Somerfioeld in this town but their choice of products is limited. I need to travel 8 miles to my nearest Sainsbury's and therefore the online shopping is wonderful. I have regularly used this service to do a big shop for storecupboard staples such as tined goods, pasta, rice, freezer goods and household cleaners. I have used Sainsburys a few times now for my grocery shopping and each time so far has gone through trouble free, the deliveries have arrived within the specified time slots which I must add you have to pay for, though I guess it is to be expected, and is cheaper than a taxi to my local Sainsburys.

Updated this a couple of times now! Updates at the bottom!
Having moved house in Summer, I was fairly keen to get to grips with this online grocery shopping lark. And I think Sainsbury's is a fantastic place to shop in - so much easier than "roughing it" at Tesco!
