    Buyer Beware Shiply is a brokerage service, it puts couriers in touch with those needing goods moved. In many ways it works like eBay, with users giving each other feedback and a sort of 'reverse-bidding' process to achieve the best price for a job. and for this reason users may assume - quite wrongly - that there is some form of buyer protection in place. Unfortunateley there is no buyer protection and Shiply are simply uninterested in helping resolve disputes between buyers and sellers, but meanwhile are happy to hold on to the fee that has been paid out!     Hi A courier cancelled on me (they often do/can as they juggle loads) and Shiply refused to refund my £38 despite being asked to do so many times. I don't think they have a right to keep my money. Then, after I found a different courier, they still refused to refund my money and I just went on to the Shiply website to review the courier that I used through Shiply and could not leave feedback because "Shiply" had already leaft positive feedback on my behalf !!     Hi, I've just come across these reviews and as a courier registered with Shiply I would like to give my opinion. I have been taking work via Shiply since it's establishment and have a 100% feedback. If I placed a bid, which a customer requiring a courier accepted, the deposit paid by the customer went to Shiply. However Shiply preferred customers to believe it went to the courier, not one penny of it does. Obviously Shiply have to earn an income for running the site which on the whole is very good.     Advantages Advantages Using the reverse auction system allows you to get an amazing price for a job!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None...provided you do your homework and find a decent courier.

    I wanted to arrange a motorbike shipment from Widnes near Liverpool to Wickford in Essex in early November 2009. I'd bought the bike on EBay but did not want the problem of collecting the bike myself. I searched for couriers on EBay and came across Shiply.com....all I can say is brilliant. The site is incredibly easy to use and having listed the job on their site, I started to receive quotes for performing the job.     Disadvantages Disadvantages I was put on hold for 1 hour and 3 mins on an 0845 number before they picked up the phone.

    I tried to ship a 2nd hand bicycle using Shiply, they acted as an intermediary, getting commission from a courier firm for the work.After paying my deposit to Shiply, the bicycle seller waited in for the courier van to arrive, but the goods weren't collected. I contacted the courier firm who claimed that they knew nothing about this order placed through Shiply. I tried to call Shiply to find out what had gone wrong, but I was put on hold for 1 hour and 3 mins on an 0845 number before they picked up the phone. They apologised but then said that they must start the bid process all over again ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheapo quotes, but do you trust them?

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Neutral venue means you won't be getting a penny back if it goes wrong. Generic customer service.

    How this company ever managed to receive any "business awards" I have no idea and I would urge anyone who is considering using them to do so at their own risk. If this review saves just one person from losing money by using this company then my job is done ;) It works like this; You place an advert in their auction style service for a transport provider, the transport providers (who are unverified by the way) give you quotes which you have the option of accepting. Once accepting you then have to pay a fee to Shiply, another fee as a "deposit" for the transport provider (NOTE: They keep this ... more

    iv used shiply and other sites like them before and not had a good service with them. firtly they take a deposite (this not given to the transporter - they keep it!) and sometimes it works out the same as normal couriers! transpoters are not always the best as like other people have mention anyone can register and leave feedback for dud job! iv also seen alot of reviews saying that people have made payments to the transporter and then the job never gets done! this is my biggeest problem with sites like these. i have not yet found a company that is reliable and safe. however we might all have ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages the whole system and set up, and non existent customer service

    I attempted to arrange a collection and delivery through shiply, the carrier after I had paid my deposit , increased their price, I then cancelled the agreement and shply has stil not 3 months later refunded my deposit , despite repeated requests, and phone calls to a mystery number in Manchester that diverets you straight back to email, if anyone needs the number it;s 0161 8500 699. In my opinion no-one should use this company as they are very good at taking your money but not good at refunding when they have agreed to.     You will have to pay a service fee Shiply doesnt want the customers to know that they charge the Transport provider though. they tell them they have passed the deposit to the transporter. LIE!!!!!!!!!!! This is pasted directly from shiply emails to the transport provider Hi ??? (Censored), Congratulations your bid on delivery listing (Censored) has been accepted by (Censored) Censored has already paid a deposit of £7.20, this amount has been passed to you in credit and been used to offset your Shiply success fee.
