    I chose Shiply for the delivery of a hay baler. A good price came through and I accepted it. The transport company suddenly told me that they could not do the delivery because they had a van and the baler would need a flat bed trailer. Considering that I had made the situation clear about the item that needed delivering on the Shiply listing, it was very annoying. I contacted Shiply to ask for a refund. There was no reply. I have since had to escalate the issue through Paypal to try and get my money back that way. Word of advice for anyone thinking of using this very bad service would be to ... more

    Had to move my student room furniture (i.e. bed, mattress, laundry basket etc) to my new flat in London (about fifty miles away). Got it done for £40 with shiply. Less than the cost of a peak time return to London on the train. Stunning. Accepted the bid and had it moved four days later. The man with the van accepted moving far more than I had specified in the bid, and gave us a hand moving it in and out of the house. My girlfirend was charged £120 for a similar task a year before, because she did it the old fashioned way. Couldn't ask for more. The guy that moved my stuff apparently works ... more

    Advantages Advantages A nice idea to connect transportation providers with spare capacity to consumers

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poorly vetted companies offering services on Shiply. No refunds even if no service is provided!

    Shiply is a website which acts as a broker between couriers and consumers. They charge a rather large fee to do this and take a deposit on behalf of the courier once a collection is agreed. Unfortunately as I found out Shiply will not give refunds for either their fee or the deposit even if the courier for collection does not show up. The courier I booked through them did not show up, did not notify me before or after he failed to make collection, could not give any date for a subsequent collection.     I paid a deposit but due to circumstances beyond my controll i had to cancel my request within 24 hours. I spoke to someone in customer services and she said they would initiate a refund. When i tried to get the refund on their website, it said i had to wait 10 days, after 10 days i tried again only to realize they dont refund anything, not their fees and not the transport company's 10% that i had paid! I spoke to the transport company and they told me that they dont get a penny, that Shiply keeps it all! I thought that it is bad enough them keeping their so called "introduction fee" but to ... more

    I've used shiply a couple of times. I've generally had a good experience. Recently had a bad experience with a transport company (not saying this is shiply's fault), so I applied for a refund. After calling customer service the guy says the refund will be put on my shiply account. Then I relist the same delivery. I pay the deposit again. I call customer support again to make sure I have not been charged twice. She tells me that she cannot confirm this. Next month when I get my credit card statement I see that they have charged me twice. Now they won't refund me because 30 days have past. This ... more
