Advantages: Will save you money. Easy to use. Disadvantages: You need to register for the sites that you are referred to.
...old and guess what? Shopsmart.com is no more!! That's it, gone, finito. There's a sign on the site thanking everyone for their past support and then suggesting they use Kelkoo.co.uk instead!
I'm gutted, as I used to love this site. However, I have used Kelkoo before and have no problems going back in Shopsmarts absence.
Shopsmart is dead - Long live Kelkoo!

If you're going down town, into the city, or online to buy something, then you would be wise to check Shopsmart first.
This site basically compares prices for products from different retailers, both online and High Street Stores. I used Shopsmart just now. I want a Video Recorder, and went to the Currys website to pick one (as they have detailed specifications). I found what I wanted and went to Shopsmart to find the best price. Simply entering ... ...gave me a list of prices from £110 to £150 !
The trick is - don't stop there! When I found the cheapest place to get the recorder (at HED.co.uk which I never heard of before) I came straight to Ciao to get other peoples opinions on the retailer. Some retailers will really let customer service slip just to advertise products at low prices, but opinions written about HED on Ciao convinced me that this retailer is reliable.

I have used this site many times to find best prices for cd's. I always find that they have diverse shops with different delivery times and postage amounts but always seem to find that they find good value sites for example . i used them to find a cd recently . I’ve discovered another price comparison chart (well, to be honest, I read about it in a magazine and felt I had to take a look!). A few weeks ago I wrote an opinion about kelkoo.com, and recommended it if you wanted to compare prices online before you buy.
There is a very similar site at uk.shopsmart.com. Both sites work in a similar way – and are FREE to use. You don’t even need to register with them to gain access. You simply ... ...search for the item. After a few moments you will be provided with a list of suppliers for your chosen item, with the all-important price information. If there is a charge for postage and packing this will also be shown. You can ask for the information to be displayed in a number of ways - I find by total price to be most useful. Sleeping around is bad. Shopping around is good. Shopsmart exploits the latter of those two statements, and allows you to compare prices for a product in several of the largest online retailers, which is great. Though it isn't without its problems.
Shopsmart's interface is pretty easy – you type a title, artist/author or similar into the search box and select the relative product type, and the Shopsmart engine provides all the matches to your search. ... ..."Compare Prices" and you see what the item costs at various e-tailers, including the postage costs. When you're after the cheapest service you can find, it’s a very useful site.
However, Shopsmart has a few flaws. Firstly, its own search system isn't very powerful and often finds a number of bad matches. Sometimes, of course, the product you're after isn't in their database and so its impossible to search for it anyway. Often you might find two ...

...to go outside again when shopsmart.com is around must be mad. You basically type in an item then search; it tells you all the places you can buy it and the prices. (+P&P) It can easily save you a tenner in a few clicks. The best thing is the speed and ease of use. It is updated very often so special SALE offers are out up immedialtey. You then can go directly to the shop and buy wahtever you want. The price comparisons are only available for some ... ...expanding.
The website itself is well layed out. I find it quick but some others have found it too be slow, it really depends when you are on. Menus and small discreet adverts cover the main page but these are very rarely used. The search engine is medium, not bad becuase of it's speed and results, not good because it does not cover every shop on the web and every item on the web, however this is not expected from one website.

Shopsmart is the ideal way to shop online. You just visit their site and then you make your way to the shops(it's almost like a tourist info site). They will direct you to any sort of shop you need, such as sports or electronics, flowers or fabrics. This is far easier to use than your traditional search engine. Shopsmart.com is without doubt a handy tool to have. it is I suppose only a directory of shopping sites but it does seem to give an unbiased view of each shops content. The ease of use makes Shopsmart ideal for searching and comparing goods and prices. There are hundreds of shops within the Shopsmart site some far better than others this making the experience of browseing a lot more educational. Shopsmart.com is a site that does in essence the shopping around for you, I must admit to being one of them people that thinks there must be a place or site that a certain product may be cheaper. Well I’m right and now I can use this site to see who is offering the cheapest and best offers. It has access to thousands of site where the site has the ability to compare products, I only found out last week about it when I saw it advertised right ... ...games, and videos.
I am an avid fan of Danielle Steel and have been using Amazon to order my books, but when I put it into the search I got so many places where I could have bought it cheaper, I felt like a fool for paying what I did. When I first starting using the web I would have told anyone and everyone to use shopsmart for their unbiased, excellent reviews and good descriptions, but now things have changed. Like most of the shopping portals they have now gone for paid listings. So the more you pay the higher you get listed. Now I realise that a lot of people do not realise this and will think that the best sites are those listed at the top. This can be the case sometimes, ... ...money.
Most shopping sites now charge for listings and this ranges from around £100 pound to over £3000 a month. I was really disappointed when shopsmart started to get more and more commercial. I was hoping they could survive on banner advertising and other promotional stuff, but it was not to be.
But I should say some postive points about shopsmart, it does have a good selection of shops and is still one of my first places to go when I am looking ...

I stumbled across shopsmart by accident. A leaflet from ASDA was handed to me and I thought I'd check it out. Previous to this discovery, I was trying to buy uni textbooks. They are about £30-£40 each on the high street, so as a student, I wanted to save every penny I could, so I was going to every online merchant I could think of INDIVIDUALLY and writing down the price of each book, and the hidden costs for each merchant, i.e. the postage. It took ... ...You just type in what you want, and it really does do all the hard work for you. I would recommend it to anyone. Even to those who are a bit sceptical of internet shopping since it makes it obvious just how much you can save if you shop around. ...

I saw shopsmart.com advertised on ciao, and so I thought I should have a look at the site. I have heard of other sites that compare prices like Kelkoo.com which is very good, so it has high standards to reach if it was going to topple my favourite site at the moment (kelkoo.com).
It was well organised with good range of categories. They have 1000 secure, UK based online stores which the can compare prices for. So, I put a search in a search I only ... ...if I had looked up shopsmart.com I would have saved £4.89, which is a lot. It was so simple and it saves you money. So, shopsmart.com really is a way to easier shopping, the results are so good and you really can make a saving. So, kelkoo.com or shopsmart.com well I think I will use now both from now on.
