Advantages Advantages Reliable, informative, updated regularly

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be a bit slow sometimes

Soccernet was previously sponsored and maintained by the Daily Mail newspaper, but about a year ago the running of the site was taken over by ESPN, the giant American sports broadcaster. I initially feared that this would have a detrimental effect on the integrity and reliability of the information on Soccernet, given that US companies tend not to place too much emphasis on football (or should I say soccer?). However, it appears that the opposite is true in this case, as Soccernet has improved in leaps and bounds lately, and is now my first port of call for football news each day. The site is ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great stasticis

Disadvantages Disadvantages No live radio coverage

I am currently based in USA and so find it frustrating that I cannot follow sports on live TV without paying through the nose. However there are several great sites that allow me to keep in touch with the British sporting world. One of these is Soccernet.com. from ESPN. The contents Soccernet.com is the definitive soccer web site on the net. Within it you will find detailed coverage of all domestic football, the major world tournaments and even a summarized section on Global soccer. As you delve in the site you find it to be full of statistics, including results, tables, etc. One great feature ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of news; loads quickly; many features

Disadvantages Disadvantages News mainly based on English Premier League

Soccernet is a site that is managed by the American giant ESPN. I consider the site as very professional and is arguably the best football site there is on Internet together with the one of Skysports, which is also tremendous. Navigating through the site is really easy. The menu is bar is situated on the left hand side and includes tabs for the English Premiership, European Football, Champions League, Global Football, TV Listings, Fantasy League, Store and Betting Zone. I particularly like this site because whenever you enter there is always something new to read about. It is continuously ... more

Advantages Advantages Regularly updated, un biased, wide range.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly plain.

I find that with sports websites (and news, film and entertainment sites for that matter), you are usually loyal to one - like with newspapers. I used to be a football365.com goon, but I got annoyed with their constant redesign and the fact that their editor is Danny Kelly, a die hard Spurs fan (sworn enemy of all Gunners like myself), so I switched to Soccernet, and am so far very impressed. They update the site very reguarly, and have a good system where you can check on the latest news from your club. They also have a daily poll, and opinions from top pundits and football stars. Their ... more

Advantages Advantages IT IS NOTHING LESS THAN HEAVEN

Disadvantages Disadvantages not enough about Man Utd

So for many of us in the world of work we leave the house before the papaerboy deems it fit do deliver our 5 pages of useful news and 30 odd other pages of rubbish and naked women. This means that we football supporters have to be fed with the latest new while at work, or what else would we have to talk about at dinnertimes. The thought of not knowing Shmeichal has gone to Villa in the pub after work sends shivers down my spines. Thats where football websites come in i.e. HEAVEN. In particular, soccernet is an absolute gem. It is presented well and constantly updated throughout the day. ESPN ... more

This is a very small website that just provides all the latest football headlines. The target audience is in the UK and the stories that the site runs are all related to the English and Scottish leagues. You also get all the big international headlines and reports from the big international tournaments i.e. European Championships, World Cups etc. The index page for this site is made up of hundreds of headlines with a brief description of the story beneath. The headline of each story is a link to another page where you’ll find the story in full. There is not much more to this site than that – ... more

Advantages Advantages Comprehensive latest scores, good match report.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Inaccurate, looks poor, humourless.

The title simply describes the way this site feels. In terms of initial visual impact this site lags behind other colourful more exuberant counterparts such as planetfootball. There are other things going for this site however. I find that it is better written than other sites and just as well informed. The latest scores on match day are very good and comprehensive as they cover all the Scottish Leagues and the English ones but the live commentary is poor and slow. The site provides news and speculation in a fairly cold, hard facts style without any humour and sometimes the info provided by ... more

Advantages Advantages Wide scope, good detail

Disadvantages Disadvantages Won't have your favourite player's favourite colour

Covering football from around the globe, ESPN’s soccernet gives surprisingly in depth information for British clubs in all divisions, fixtures, news, results, reports and tables, as you would expect from any football site. In addition, for each team, there are brief profiles of all the squad members by position. The left-hand panel allows you to navigate between the different nations, leagues, and cup competitions as well as the tables, clubs, fixtures and results. The right-hand panel allow you to pick a particular month, then day of the current season. Match previews describe the team news ... more

    Advantages Advantages good sports site

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

A very good site that is most of the time reports true stories unlike teamtalk.com. It gives you an excellent in depth reports on your team and seem much more professional in it’s approach than teamtalk.com. The site is really well presented, although the homepage has a lot of stories on it, it’s ok and doesn’t annoy you. Just shows how much stories they have to report. Why soccernet.com because…….. -it I more truthful than teamtalk so if you only have five minutes you want the correct football stories -you can catch up with European clubs, and I like following Real Madrid so I can do so ... more

    Advantages Advantages Informative, well designed

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you don't like the beautiful game...

If you're like me and like to be at the forefront of the football news word then there's only one site that can satisfy your insatiable apetite - and that site, ladies & gentlemen, is soccernet.com . Although run by American sports television giant ESPN, the website has lost none of football's British appeal. If you read the Daily Mail, then you may well found that it's strikingly similar. That is probably because it's the same company behind the paper and the website. Soccernet.com manages to strike a fine balance between fact and rumour - unlike TeamTalk - which allows the reader to engage ... more
