For what it costs, and the different increments on every bid, telebid/Swoopo is simply a not working! Some auctions have a .01 increment, and you can end up spending your entire bid pack before you see anything won! I know there is a new one coming out on the 15th, that promises one bid increment that will never change, and losing bidders will get bids back. Win/Win situation. Also I hear they will be giving away 30k worth of free items the launch date. I am going to win me something for free! Website is Shobid.com. I was just surfing the internet when an advert came up at the side saying about telebid.com. I thought i'd give it a look to see if i could get any of the products at the prices it was offering. I went to sign up and then realised that you had to buy your bids and the chances of actually winning were slim. Personally i think its just a scam that has been thought through to pull people in. This is the worst site out - you can't get a bargain unless your just really lucky. I spent over £500 in a day and I didn't win a thing. Please don't make the same mistake, this site should come with a warning. I would recommend you heed my advice. However, I have won something on it and that only ended up costing £200, after bidding for other things and then bidding on a dvd i didn't want. This was on my first visit a year ago. Once bitten twice shy - £700 for a dvd (that costs about £12 - (BARGAIN!!!)

This is the same system as tv bidding shows such as "biduptv" where you pay a premium rate to bid (in the tv show a phone call, on telebid you buy Bids), then in an "ebayesque" way your bid rises by pennys. A good example is a Nintendo Wii that went for £71.68. The required bid automatically increments by 7 pence everytime a bid is placed, which means 1,024 bids were placed for the Wii. Each bid is 50 pence, which means the site owners have actually earned £512 on that item. Neat profit for them. As usual if something looks too good to be true it usually is.

I would urge people to be very wary of this web site. It purports to offer opportunities for bargains but it is in fact a very cynical gambling site. As someone who has studied psychology for a few years the whole operation is designed to elicit as much money from you as possible. It's revenue must be staggering. Telebid is a con, a skank is i say. Just the fact that they have automated machines biddong on their own items so people do not win. Also when so many people bid at the same time, the timer goes up a certain amount from say 30secs to anywhere near 3hours! So people bidding on it will thing oh sod that and leave, then 3 hours later, new people to the site will think they have a chance of winning and the process repeats. In simple words the site is CON, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

CON CON CON I sat and watched what happens on this site and in my considered opinion - it's a CON. Everytime somebody bids it costs them 50p. That's fine BUT the stated countdown timer will INCREASE with every new bid. Sometimes I have seen 15 minutes added to the auction time remaining when a bid is placed. So during an auction for a £70 item I saw one person spend in excess of £20 in bids with the item price now around the £27 mark - yes, still a bargain IF that person wins it eventually. Then when you check the SMALL print you see the auction doesn't really end for 2 weeks - as long as somebody keeps bidding. A CON - STAY AWAY

To put it simply telebid is a gambling site... you have to pay for bids which can then be used for items e.g ps3 nintendo wii etc... its 50p a bid and every bid on an item makes the price of the item go up by 7p... you have single bids and a clever system called the bid butler.....to give an example of this..... an auction will start at £0...then you get a couple people putting in single bids (50 p a bid...7pence added on to the total ... I was conned out of £60 by this site !! do not go near it. It amazes me how they can run what is clearly a rip off and get away with it.

bit of a con i just wasted £10 on 20 bids that i used on an auction that was supposidly to fin in a few min but more and more time kept getting added on to it so it was still going hours later!! if you are going to join read the terms and conditions VERY carefully. i feel i have just thrown £10 away on nothing

www.grababid.com is better and cheaper! The concept of Telebid is good.. If you are clever and know what you are doing, you can bag a bargain. Other sites have the same offerings - Much cheaper! Telebid is over priced - Other sites I have found are more cost effective - www.grababid.com being one for example!

Not sure how they can get away with this......don't bother its a lottery to win an item, plus the German site sells bids for 50c so they get more bids for their money but are betting on the same items we are...... telebid are making so much money from each item.........with bids costing 50p........haven't seen any penny auctions yet either.......its a con.......
