Advantages: Easy to book, Great choice, Brilliant Prices! Disadvantages: Have to be Quick, Security?
Me and my boyfriend recently visited the Greek island Kos and stayed in a luxurious 4 star half board complex which (for once) really was worthy of its 4 stars! We booked through First Choice and were lucky enough to get a last minute deal and our holiday had been reduced… bargain we thought! However once at the hotel we got chatting to a few other Brits – two of whom had booked through First Choice in advance and paid over £100 more per person than ... ...booked over teletext and paid half of what we paid! (I just felt sorry for those that had paid more than us!) And so, a little dubiously I must add, that’s how I came to be looking at teletext holidays last weekend – now there’s 2 options here, ITV text has a wide range of channels covering holidays – from last minute bargains, to deals of the day, to advance bookings and secondly, www.teletextholidays.co.uk which is the online version.

Searching for holidays online can be a bit of a minefield, one the one hand you can find great deals and see a range of choice that you may not find walking around travel agents and looking through brochures. However, the choice and different website can be bewildering. This is why teletext is such a great site to look at. Essentially it’s like a portal site linking you to holiday offers based on the requirements you enter into their search engine.
... ...sections are colour coded, I like a bit of colour coding! On the homepage you have the opportunity to do a quick search for a holiday based on where and when you want to go, how much you want to pay and where you want to go from, if you want you can order the results by price, date, destination, departure point and holiday company.

Advantages: good, cheap and easy Disadvantages: bad customer service
About September time me and my friends decided we would embark on our first holiday together as just the girlies... We were all looking forward to it immensly but beofre we had even got there we had been messed about twice.
Although I can't really complain each time they changed our hotel we got an upgrade, I mean we paid for a 2 * and got a 3 *, but we were still out of the way from all the clubs and the beach and it was a fair walk if you didn't ... ...it on the chin and when we got there we were dropped off in the middle of nowhere not knowing where to go...Literally not knowing where to go and at the age of 18 it was quite daunting. We ended up asking for a taxi number from one of the hotels colsest to us and realised we were a fifteen minute walk from our hotel with all our luggage in a country we didn't know the languague...
Once at the hotel the apartment was perfect (for what we had paid), ...

Advantages: Less sales pressure .. Disadvantages: Pages not always updated regularly ..
These days, travel agents offer LESS of a choice, not more. The reason for this is the fact that the big chains are owned by major tour operators such as Thomson and Airtours and they want their staff to sell THEIR own products not the competitors. Generous staff commission payments ensure that if you walk into a Lunn Poly shop, a smiling assistant will do his or her best to sell you a Thomson holiday, even if its not what you want. Similarly, My ... ...to opt for Airtours. So can you really trust them to find what's best for you ..?
Not so with Teletext holiday pages. Here, you can browse in the comfort of your own living room, pen and phone at the ready, confident in the knowledge that these guys are really in competition with each other. They have learned over the years that advertising a holiday just a few pounds more expensive than their competitors means the difference between the phone ringing ...

I find that booking holidays can be so stressful that you need the holiday to get over the stress from booking! Travel agents put pressure on you to take the higher priced deals, or are so damned useless you are in the office for 3 days just trying to communicate to them that you don't want to go on a package holiday to Benidorm. I hate it. I generally travel independently in any case, but last year I tried to book a lastminute break, ony to find ... ...so fed up with travel agents I jsut bought an interrail pass and fled.
Then my brother told me about Teletext.co.uk's holiday search. I knew about the normal teletext on the telly version, but don't have text so thought it would be of no help to me. The website is great though.
The opening page is nice and bright. You're first choice is what type of thing you want - overseas, UK, flight only, cruise or ski. You can browse the ads or you can search ...

Ceefax or Teletext can offer some great bargains. I went for 14 nights all inclusive to Jamaica earlier this tear for £250. It was the best holiday of my life! The key is to be flexible as to when and where you want to go and have the patience to sit and read through pages and pages of teletext offers - although now you can even do it at work online (not that I would!) at www.teletext.co.uk The more you look, the more chance there is of getting a ...

As long as your flexible about the destination of your holiday I can assure you teletext will be able to find you a bargin. The later you leave booking the holiday to the departure date the cheaper and cheaper it will become.
Last year I purchased a holiday to Ibiza using teletext, this turned out to be the best value for money Ive ever had. A week at the end of june in a 5 star hotel in Es Cana (the quieter but not to quiet side of ibiza!) cost ... ...was the flight from Gatwick, but that is a good point for alot of people. The hotel was brilliant, we had a great holiday and im now searching teletext for a last minute deal for a quick break in july for this year.
The process of searching for the holiday can be a bit time consuming and could be costly if you havent got cheap rates on the internet. There are extra costs however when booking a holiday on line there is the ticket on departure charge ...

this is a great website and offers competitive prices for holidays. you can find almost any holiday that you want at almost any time of the year and a wicked price. the only negative thing though is you really have to sort of know what you want cause there is so much information on this site you would be searching for hours if you didnt know what you wanted. you can get really cheap tickets if you book late enough on the late escapes page and if ...
