themoneybag.com is a great website for a variety of financial discussions. The range of topics has expanded since its beginning to include many interesting opportunities. The centre of the site is really the discussion forum, for which you must subscribe. My favorite section is the 'Deals, offers and freebies' section. The site provides a forum for information and discussion on a range of wealth enhancing ideas. Carpetbagging is certainly well represented, both Building Societies and Life Insurance. This site is packed with personal finance information and its all FREE!!! As a novice stockmarket investor, I've found the shares sections useful. Very basic questions are answered in a non-patronising manner, and people are willing to help you out. There are sections on carpetbagging building societies and life companies. The Moneybag.co.uk is basically a windfall website, much like the Carpetbagger.com, which revolves around about ten discussion forums that help out the less knowledgable investor. There are a hardcore group of users who provide most of the information and comments as well as a professional IFA so this site is very good if you have some questions and can't find the info on the web - or don't want to pay for it. I have long been a fan of the Carpetbagger website, but would also like to recommend a similar site that provides topical information about personal finance and money related issues. Moneybag is free to join but you do need to register first. There are currently over 5000 registered members and you can tell how many members are active at any one time, the most ever online at any one time being 51 as recorded last month. This site was set up in Feb 2000 and originally discussions centred around the demutualisation debate and the best ways of obtaining windfalls. I have visited the site on and off since it was launched and have noticed it has developed into a rounded financial website as apose to a carpet bagging based site. The site offers information on all aspects of personal finance from Life Assurance to Stocks and Shares - it even has its own IFA. I like this one a lot. There are loads of great ideas on how to save/make money by opening accounts with Building Societies and other Mutual organistaions. In addition there are links to all sorts of other sites specialising in a wide range of financial services.
