What is Tucows?
A huge archive of freeware, shareware and demo software, all of which can be downloaded from this one website. Tucows also reviews the software by giving it a brief overview and a rating between one and five cows. So what?
Well rather than go out and spend hundreds of pounds on the latest software apps, there is normally a free product that does the same thing on Tucows. It also saves searching around the web for software; just ... ...download speed?
Tucows has hundreds of mirror sites setup around the globe; so you can pick a mirror near to where you are and nearly always get a good download speed. Infact the mirroring with Tucows is done in a very clever and painless way. You go in to Tucows, search for your product, choose to download it and then you choose which mirror to download from. The mirrors are also rated by how often they are updated each day.

There are many sites that offer shareware and freeware , but TUCOWS is one of the granddaddies of them all. It has been around since I've been using the web and lives up to it's contrived acronymic name (The Ultimate Collection Of Windows Software).

Around the internet there are many downloads sites. If you re looking to update the way your computer looks, you could spend hours searching for the right site! Whilst browsing around aimlessly I found that there is a site dedicated to software that will help you change the way your computer looks, as well as a huge archive of music and other software! Tucows is set out to look like a search engine! It has your search bar, ... ...The text is all easy to read, and relevant to the software download theme! The dominant colour is blue, this helps to show where each section begins. On the left hand side of the page is a section called "Toolbox". ...and don't read on. Tucows.com as you might think, well I thought it anyway!, about Cows, damn shame, it is actually an internet download resource centre much like Download.com (provided by CNET). In many ways this is a very similar site, apart from the fact that it has cows in its logo, cool!

Well my first experiences of Tucows.com was very good, very good indeed. They certainly know how to look after the general net user. I would not say that this site was for total beginners but for anyone with even slight net knowledge will find this site more than usefull. This site has everything you would expect from a download site. It has shareware, tools, utilities and themes. everything the more "major" download sites have. I have not yet found ... ...me or not I say this is not major only because I only heard of this site well after Zdnet and Cnet which are more reconised throughout the net comunity. What I really love about this site is the amount of Mirror sites it has. The UK has loads of mirrors and the rest of the world is covered aswell, with sites in Africa and Asia, this may be no use to you but it shows how dedicated to qulaity the team at Tucows are. Tucows is a great search engine for finding downloads that companys have but samples or freeware software on so the general public can compare different software. I tried using after a had a few recomendations for tucows from freinds who said it was good. Advantages: Always what you want. Disadvantages: Not that big yet.
At this Magical website you can download most anything you want. Apart from Mp3's which is slightly annoying. But the software is nearly un-limitless. The Reason that this download site is better than most others is that most of the stuff you want to download, such as programs, games etc. Comes from a place near you, instead of the other side of the world.
For example if you live in Manchester like I do, there will be a mirror(A site that you can ... ...Most of the links work but there are a few that are either slow or the server is down, but don't worry due to there being so many different mirrors as there are, you will get what you want..
My advice is to get a download program such as Gozilla or real-download and use Tucows while using one of them programs. This will surely maximize the speed of your download. It makes perfect sense.
Most of the programs and games on this site are Demo's. And ...

Advantages: loads of stuff to find here Disadvantages: might not be able to find what you want exactly
this site is great for all sorts of stuff, there are utilities, editing tools, games and much more.
what i like about this site is that there are plenty of mirrors around the world, thus, u cut down your download time by choosing a site nearer to you. also, the sites are frequently updated and you can always find the things that you want (not necessarily what you wanted in the 1st place tho)

Tucows is a massive archive of Shareware, Demos and Freeware.
All the software is categorised and the site is easy to navigate. The download speeds from the site are good and the site itself is fast. Their database is constantly updated so you will not miss out on the latest offerings.

This is one of the most useful sites that has ever been uploaded onto the net.
Tucows (for those that have never been there) is a site devoted to freeware (software you never have to pay for) and shareware (software you get free for a period of time, and then you have to pay a fee if you want to continue using).
The site operates very much as a portal, and offers software for most if not all operating systems. You can either do a search for the ... ...software – i.e. html editors, or alternatively just go in and have a browse around.
Once you find something you like then you are presented with a host of information about the particular item of software such as for example:
Type – shareware / freeware
Source – often with a link to their website
Download size
Cost if anything
Length of trial period
Basic synopsis of what the software does and its features

Tucows.com is the first site I check for downloads as it has thousands of programs, and there are so many affiliate sites that the download speed is always fairly high. If you need some Internet software there is in my opinion no better place to start looking than Tucows. The software archive is vast and covers just about any Internet application you might need but that is not where Tucows strength lies. The main benefit of downloading from Tucows is it's International Mirror network. This is a great number of ISPs and Companies world wide who keep a copy of the Tucows archive on their own networks. For the user ... ...there is a server with the archive on close to them.
If you are looking for some Internet software to download to solve a specific problem or just fancy browsing for some useful tool I advise you take a look at www.tucows.com (or tucows.mirror.ac.uk for us here in the UK) ...

This is a collection of sites around the world where you can download the most popular internet software.
The site is divided into sections for different types of software. Each programme is reviewed and rated on the site.
The main advantage is that you are unlikely to get rubbish on the site as only worthwile programs are included.
There are other site with much larger indexes but you risk spending your time downloading rubbish with these site.
