What is Twitter? So for those of you not on Twitter and still don't know what it is, I applaud you but where have you been?. Twitter "is a real-time information network powered by people all around the world that lets you share and discover what's happening now" according to the company Twitter Inc. who own the brand. Twitter asks "what's happening" and makes the answer spread across the globe to millions, immediately" according to the people behind the actual application and it is based in San Francisco in the United States of America. Over time it seems Twitter, like Facebook, has evolved ... more

Advantages Advantages Fairly easy to use, great way to communicate with the great and the good

Disadvantages Disadvantages Spam, site sometimes cannot cope and grinds to a halt

I first tried social media back in the days when it was called “Friends Reunited” and you were charged for the privilege of trying to get in touch with people you hadn’t seen for 25 years. For a while, Friends Reunited was one of the most popular websites in the UK, but it was eventually overtaken by free variants on what was essentially the same thing. Having tried Bebo and finding it a bit juvenile, I fell in love with Facebook and have been happily using it for several years now. When Twitter fell into the spotlight following the crash landing of a US Airways jet on the Hudson River in New ... more

Advantages Advantages Good web layout, many ways to use, easy to use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages I may be missing something... but I don't see it being that useful

The internet is full of websites to help you network, and keep in touch, and being a twenty-something year old, I'm just in the right generation to have tried them all. I've let people into MySpace, I've Facebooked everyone I know, I've blogged, I've uploaded to YouTube, I've chatted on many types of instant messenger, played game sites with a community and done things most people have probably never heard of. And so when I heard of this up and coming new way to network on the internet, who was I to resist? So I clicked onto Twitter and signed up, and this is my view. A Brief History Of ... more

    - Introduction - I'd been thinking about doing a review on twitter for some time but I hadn't got around to it until now. The reason why I thought I'd review it is because I use it alot, every day and I've gained many benefits from using it which I feel its worth making others aware of, so this is my aim of my review. I'd be surprised if many people aren't aware of the service but you might not be aware of all the benefits, so I hope this review is useful/insightful for you if your interested in learning about the service. - What is Twitter? - Twitter is basically a social networking site with ... more

Advantages Advantages Great site, simple to use, loads well, lots of celebrities online, short & sweet status updates.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

Twitter.com is an online social networking site that allows you to connect with other people around the world for free and see what they have been up to. Twitter is free to join and signup is easy and simple. Just provide your name, username, email address & a secure password. Once you have signed up you can then add an avatar or profile picture to your account as well as customise some settings such as making your Twitter updates only available to people that you approve. This is a fantastic feature as it means you can rant safe in the knowledge that certain people can't actually read what ... more

Although Twitter has been an active member of the social networking and blogging community since 2006, its popularity blew out of proportion late last year, with millions of people joining including celebrities and businesses, which in turn prompted a good majority of the internet society to join and see what the whole fuss was about which saw Twitter’s user count shot up with everyone joining, tweeting and using all the Twitter related services (Twitpic, etc). Here I will do a basic review of Twitters features and function discussing the good and the bad as well as any other details worth ... more

Advantages Advantages Outreaching to others worldwide.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little complicated in places.

Twitter is described in a nutshell as a social networking and microblogging site. It is important to remember the social aspect of Twitter. It is something that so many people forget when they explore its uses and their views on Twitter, that primarily, its use is social. Twitter was 'born' on March 21st 2006, although it wasn't fully made available to the public till July 2006. Jack Dorsey is the designer of Twitter, although in recent years Evan Williams has taken over the position as CEO and is better well known and in my opinion, more widely credited with the rise of Twitter in recent ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple layout & idea, Microblogging, Some peoples Tweets are very interesting, short quick news.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Others mundane Tweets often clog up your page, random people adding you is not always wanted.

**This review is also listed on DooYoo, under my username "MonsoonBaby"** There is no denying that the internet plays a rather important part in life for a considerably large amount of people. Social networking sites have over the last few years increasingly gained more and more popularity, that even the media and businesses are cashing in on it's success now. With what seems like pretty much everyone around you on Facebook, there is time for you to join one more-Twitter. Twitter is a much more simplified social networking website-it is the Facebook status function without the rest of it ... more

Advantages Advantages Speedy to use, simple to use and easy to register. Anonymity if you so wish.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lacks the features of other social networking sites, some unsavoury characters.

Until very recently I didn't really get Twitter. It always seemed to me to be Facebook's inferior cousin. You know like when you watch the remake of The Karate Kid and just think, "There isn't anything wrong with it but what does it actually add to the franchise?" There are a few reasons however why Twitter is taking more chunks out of my time by the day whereas my interest in facebook is on the wane. For the people who don't know, Twitter is a social networking site that allows you to share your thoughts with other people online. Where it differs from the likes of myspace, Bebo and facebook ... more

Advantages Advantages Can use it to find interesting discussions, catch up with the news

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not many of my friends are actually on there

It was only a matter of time before another social networking site popped up and here it is in the form of twitter.com. 'Not another one' I can already hear you thinking! Twitter calls itself a 'free social networking and micro-blogging service', and enables you to read what other users have posted in updates known as 'tweets'. These posts can be upto 140 bytes in length so really are micro-blogs, I'm used to reading much longer blogs which go into more detail so immediately I'm sceptical as to whether this is enough. People will use these tweets to talk about anything, from what they are ... more
