It's Text.... Text... Textmania - Cured!

Advantages: Save money, easy to use, lots of other benefits
Disadvantages: No UK Customer service, sometimes messages delayed

I first discovered www.Uboot.com, on online text/SMS service, 2 years ago when they were young and free. Since then alas, they have started charging for their service… but I knew this would happen. The subscription cost is nothing compared to the savings you make if you decide to join. I’m not kidding – my mobile bill has changed radically since becoming a member and Uboot gives me what I need to satiate my texting needs as well as some fun stuff ...
...WHY USE UBOOT? If you are a text addict like myself, you will know the agony of opening up the latest mobile bill and gasping with horror at all the texts you ‘supposedly’ sent last month. You frown with annoyance, check your breathing and vow that you never sent this many (‘they must be wrong’) and if you did, this must stop. From now on you will only send a maximum of two a day, that’s it, no more exorbitant text-sending for you. But this doesn’t ...

BOOTIFULL FREE SMS FOR U ......

Advantages: Unlimited Free SMS,Email, Extras.
Disadvantages: Not All Free.

Not long ago I told you about The free SMS site Vizzavi, however it is not the only site of it’s kind available. www.uboot.com is another excellent free site that also has added extras thrown in and it's free for text messaging. First of course you will need to register, choose a uboot nickname, enter password and your email details, plus your mobile phone number, however you do not even need to have a mobile to be able to send and receive ...

For those that have a mobile, you will get the messages on your phone but you can send text messages from uboot to mobiles without your real mobile number being given out. Textual attraction

Advantages: Free, easy to use, email facilities
Disadvantages: Will it stay free? can't always get replies to inbox.

WOW! I recently wrote about SMS free texting using Lycos but was tempted to look at this site through another site (Dooyoo!) member's comment (thanks to Helen 79 on Dooyoo!). It seems it's just as well as since singing the praises of the Lycos SMS service I have had nothing but problems with slow service and constant error messages when trying to send texts. So I decided to check out U Boot and I can confirm it's great! All free, it provides free ...
...network people can even reply to your SMS messages to your computer Uboot inbox but I haven't had any luck with that yet. Quite how they offer all their services free I don't know as this site appears devoted to messaging and there is very little advertising evident apart from advertising their own services?! Hmmm, will it last? Apart from questions of possible longevity, for now the site has a lot to offer. Signing up is free, you choose a nickname ...

Uboot boots the competition....

Advantages: Free to sue, efficient, unlimited SMS messages, lots of features
Disadvantages: Occasional slow messages

If you’re paying a small fortune sending text messages from your own mobile phone, you may want to check out this site as a completely free alternative. Once you’ve registered, you can send unlimited text messages to any mobile phone number within the UK, or any other Uboot member, and it won’t cost you a penny! You’re given your own SMS number too, so that people can message you back not only via your phone but through the ...
...have a mobile, you can still send and receive text messages through your Uboot account! Registration is a piece of cake, you just need to choose a username, supply a password and a few other basic details and you’re ready to start. Not only can you send and receive texts, but you can also send emails direct from your mobile phone (dependant on mobile network compatibility), although this is one service I’ve never had cause to use, so ...

nice ass...mind if i have a go

Advantages: very effiecient
Disadvantages: no file attachments

uboot is brilliannt. Ever since I first got onto it I have used every single time i have been on the net and I feel this is the complete online mobile package. It is completely geared towards connecting the mobiles and intenet, and includes many different features In my uni and with my friends on the internet it seemed to reach a high level of interest around christmas but due to some problems many dropped it as a regular visitor. However in recent ...
...it. Before, when you opened your inbox you could not tell who the messages were off but this has since been changed. All the broken links have also been corrected. It can send text messages as expected but does it far easier than having to go through many pages of terms and conditions i.e. lycos (which many peeps still use). It has an address book where you can store the numbers you want to text with their names, email address etc. This is very VERY ...

a uboot sinks in server problems

Advantages: free sms, free mail, simple handling, design
Disadvantages: server probs, many idiots in the community :-)

...***** the idea ***** Uboot.com ist a typical provider for e-mail functions. But his isn’t everything. Uboot is much more… chat rooms, Short Message Services (SMS) and a guest book. The site is paid by banners form sponsors. ***** the appearance ***** The Design impressed me most and probably it was the reason for joining there. For a better understanding I decide to divide in the following into two sections (main page und account ...

Uboot - who r U

Advantages: it's a free unlimited service
Disadvantages: it doesn't cope well with lots of traffic

There are various services offering free sms on the internet. Unlike some of the others (genie, orange and Vizzavi to name but a few) Uboot offers unlimited text messages to be sent daily. You can register a user id without having to give a lot of information. If you are registering your mobile phone with them they will send you a code as a text message to confirm you have put in the right number and that it is your phone. You automatically get ...

You also get a guestbook on this page where people can enter comments and you have the ability to delete the ones you don't wish to keep. There is also a direct texting facility which allows other users to send a text direct to you without giving them your number. But this is optional so if you don't want to receive ...

AT last, No Advertising

Advantages: Many features, no advertisements
Disadvantages: None

I have at last found the site that offers you advertising free SMS. I have been to all, and I mean all of the sites that offer no advertising on their text messages, although i have found a few, they have been slow unreliable and tacky. With U-boot, you are allowed the full 160 character capacity, although you do have to be cever to get this. Before I go into the ins and outs of U-boot I am going to digress In the past i have had a problem with ...
...advertisements that are appended to their text messages, simply because a message is personal and nobody likes the idea of someone else cashing in on it. In the past I have really fallen out with friends over this, not becuase I am cheap or immature, no, becuase say for example if I have to text mate with a simple message like Yes/No or something else very short, it seemed to be the shorter the massages were, the longer the advertisements were. ...

UBooted

Advantages: Cheaper text messaging
Disadvantages: Server problems, slow support, impossible to change registered number

I've been a member of UBoot since it started towards the end of 2000, and the service was great. Recently though it has become problematic and nigh on impossible to use. The original premise was great. Free text messaging and e-mails delivered to your mobiile phone (although these had to be 140 characters or less) and for a while this worked fine. Then, as the SMS services proved costly to run, they phased out the free messages and replaced it with ...
...card which you can add money two in a number of ways, One was dialling a premium rate phone number, paying £1 and you get around 20 messages for this (each message costs 5p and is 'debited' from your account) or joining something called Club UBoot which had a various price plans starting at £3.99 for 2 months of up to 200 messages a month. At first I decided to use the £1 option as it allowed me to send enough messages and it was still 50% cheaper ...

The SMS Community - Uboot

Advantages: free SMS, email, chat
Disadvantages: slow, all black, not always reliable

This site is available in three countries - United Kingdom, Austria and Germany. Anybody who havent heard of this site before is that this site is a online community where people chat to each other without giving out your true identity to anybody else. This means that you can chat to other people that are online at the same time as you on the site itself. Also you can send free text messages (SMS) from this site and you can send anonymous messages ...
...where or who you are. This can be a bad thing as people can flood your mobile with text messages through your nickname. They dont actually see your mobile number. Hoever you can disable this feature so they cannot forward any messages to your phone. Te best thing about this site is that it is free and you can save about 10p sending SMS from this site instead of your mobile phone. If nobody knows what SMS is, it is a text that you send to mobile ...

The phone networks lose out

Advantages: Free text messages!
Disadvantages: Promised a free gift that didn't turn up.

I discovered Uboot as I got a text message from one of my friends using Uboot. I thought that I could benefit from this service and I was very impressed. With Uboot you get an email address, and are given the ability to send text messages from your computer. These messages are anonymous which I thought could be worrying for someone recieving one with no name left at the end but between friends it's fun. The SMS text messaging service has proved ...
...hate it when you recieve a text message that says text back, you've got a pay as you talk phone with no credit and so can't text back. Then the person who sent the message thinks that you're ignoring their message and there's no way you can tell them. Ok, maybe I'm just paranoid but I know that others have the same problems. Uboot takes away the problem because it is free to join and you are able to send text messages for absolutely nothing. The ...

Truly Ubootiful

Advantages: Every type of communication is free! There are many friendly people using uboot already.
Disadvantages: Extra (chosen) types of communication e.g. long text costs.

Uboot is a great free SMS and communication sight. It is set out so easily that you could be new to computers and work it. Once you have signed up you have access to free texts from the net, free email, a free web type page, free chatroom access and access to Uboot’s own photo community. When you sign up for a uboot account you will be asked for a chosen name to use and then your mobile number. If you have a mobile you can connect it to the ...

You can tell people all about yourself, the things you enjoy and your favourite web pages. You can also upload your own picture to display to the uboot community. When you have set up your page it becomes a big guest book and as you make friends you can post lots of messages onto other people’s pages. When you make friends ...

Best communications site available - it is for me

Advantages: Free Site, SMS, Email, Chatrooms, Reliable and has many excellent features
Disadvantages: Not 100% sure that ur texts reach the desired place but then thats the same with all texts even from mobiles.

Ive been a member of UBoot for quite some time now and i recommend this site to all. When i first joined UBoot it was hardly known and there wasnt many available options to choose from apart from SMS txt and Chat but now it has been greatly transformed into a very popular choice of communicating. Free SMS

Advantages: Free SMS, email, easy to use
Disadvantages: Can't reply

Uboot is the first service that I came across on the net to offer free SMS. So far I have not found a better one. Some limit you to how many you send a day. This is not the case with uboot. You do have to register with them but then you do for most other SMS services. The messages are sent really quickly and you don't get annoying adverts which really slow thing down. When the message is sent it gives your username. I have made my username my name. ...
...at the bottom of each message. You get 160 characters which is the same amount from my mobile. It has saved me an absolute fortune when sending messages to my friends. Another great thing is that all the messages you send are also sent to your outbox. This means that if you forget who you sent what to you can check. Great if you are sending lots of messages to different people. The only disadvantage that I can think of is that the person you have ...

Disappointing but fun

Advantages: free sms messaging, no daily limits
Disadvantages: sometimes webpages take a long time to load

My very first impressions of uboot.com was brilliant, what could be better than being able to send sms messages from the internet for free, being someone who uses the internet alot I felt that this would be a valuable service as it costs me a fortune to send sms off my mobile and you have all the hastle of having to try to key it in on that little keypad(how annoying and frustrating.) They allow up to 160 characters per sms message, and there is ...
...text messages are almost instant, I havn't heard of one to take more than 20 minutes to get there. But the over advantage of using this service is the fact that you dont have to send them all instantly, you can write up as any messages as you want assign them all different times and hey presto you have just saved yourself another whole bundle of time. All messages sent through uboot are anonymous, so if you are sending to someone you know etc, ...
